[00:25] through every everything around where I

[00:27] am is destroyed um I was asked to

[00:32] evacuate um on Tuesday night I did and

[00:37] haven't been able to return obviously

[00:39] and I'm not really sure what the status

[00:41] is of my home although you know it's not

[00:45] looking good because literally

[00:48] everything around it was

[00:51] destroyed goodness gracious Adam I'm so

[00:53] sorry to hear that and well thank you

[00:55] for taking the time in the midst of all

[00:57] of this um unspeakable horror

[01:00] how are you thinking about this and how

[01:02] can you explain it to somebody who is

[01:05] having difficulty

[01:07] comprehending how the Los Angeles city

[01:09] government in California refuses to do

[01:11] basic things that could prevent such

[01:13] widespread uh scale of

[01:16] Destruction well you know they say

[01:19] actions have consequences but

[01:22] inactions have even bigger consequences

[01:25] sometimes meaning doing nothing this is

[01:28] a result of them doing

[01:30] nothing

[01:32] obviously they're putting their efforts

[01:34] into Dei

[01:36] hires and environment I mean there

[01:39] there's two major concerns it's how does

[01:42] this impact the environment and then the

[01:45] other major concern is Dei those are the

[01:48] two things that the fire department the

[01:51] mayor and the city council focus on most

[01:54] sharply later on if there's some money

[01:57] and some time left over we can talk

[01:59] about

[02:00] infrastructure fire hydrants water

[02:02] pressure aqueducts and so on and so

[02:05] forth but that's the real focus is on

[02:08] the environment and Dei and then this

[02:12] happens and this is no different than

[02:16] announcing your Sanctuary sitting you

[02:19] just announce it and everyone pass you

[02:21] on the back and then at some point

[02:23] couple of bus loads of Hondurans get

[02:26] dropped off on your doorstep and you

[02:28] yell what's going on on that's

[02:31] essentially what this is and that's how

[02:33] they are sort of globally in Los Angeles

[02:37] it's all talk it's all fluff until the

[02:40] fire start or the shooting

[02:49] testimony you gave uh It's 121 where you

[02:52] explained how you wanted to be a

[02:54] firefighter play Cut

[02:55] 121 I could not find a job I walked to a

[02:59] fire station and in North Hollywood I

[03:00] was 19 I was living in the garage of my

[03:03] family home my mom was on welfare and

[03:05] food stamps and I said can I get a job

[03:08] as a fireman and they said no because

[03:10] you're not black Hispanic or woman uh

[03:13] we'll see in about 7 years and I went to

[03:16] a construction site and dug ditches and

[03:18] picked up garbage for the next seven

[03:20] years I got a letter in the mail sent to

[03:23] my father's house saying your time has

[03:25] come to do the written exam for the LA

[03:28] fire department I took it and I was

[03:30] standing in line and I had a young woman

[03:32] of color standing behind me in line and

[03:34] I said just out of curiosity when did

[03:36] you sign up to become a firan because I

[03:39] did it or person seven years ago and she

[03:42] said

[03:43] Wednesday um that is an example of my

[03:46] white privilege

[03:48] it's Adam it's almost hard to believe

[03:50] and now in Los Angeles it's not a joke

[03:53] it's I mean it is a joke there are three

[03:55] fire chiefs that are all named Kristen

[03:59] and they are all lesbian it's very hard

[04:01] to even comprehend that that are in

[04:03] charge of the Los Angeles Fire response

[04:07] do you think part of this this

[04:09] lackluster um ability to handle this is

[04:12] because of embracing these ideologies

[04:14] over

[04:17] meritocracy well it would have to

[04:20] because

[04:21] meritocracy is the best regardless of

[04:25] gender

[04:26] seties skin color what have you as soon

[04:29] as as you start factoring in other

[04:33] factors whether it's being an airline

[04:36] pilot or as we found out um Vice

[04:39] President of the United States as soon

[04:41] as you start factoring in other factors

[04:44] the product's going to be hurt it's

[04:46] going to be harmed I mean imagine if you

[04:49] tried this in the NFL you went you know

[04:52] the cornerbacks well they're all

[04:54] African-American but I'd like to get a

[04:56] little diversity in there I'd like to

[04:57] get a little someone with a little

[04:59] Jewish blood someone with some Asian

[05:00] blood in there perhaps uh someone from

[05:03] the LGBT

[05:05] community how fast would the product go

[05:10] down it would have to it it just has to

[05:14] so that's what we're living and we we're

[05:16] seeing it all over the place I think we

[05:18] saw it in New Orleans we see it

[05:21] nationwide now picking a bunch of

[05:23] incompetent people shoving them into

[05:26] positions of power and expecting

[05:29] result that we're not going to get

[05:31] because this is what we're

[05:39] in a lot of pain right now and that it's

[05:42] it's difficult to think clearly in times

[06:19] used to be a builder so as you heard

[06:21] from my testimony in front of Congress

[06:24] when I couldn't be a fireman I end up

[06:27] being a carpenter and a builder and a

[06:29] contractor

[06:30] and that's how I made my living and I

[06:31] had to deal with the city and I had to

[06:33] deal with permits I had to deal with red

[06:35] tape and bureaucracy my entire career

[06:38] and then later on when I got the show

[06:40] business I renovated my homes built

[06:42] homes did a lot of work and it was a

[06:44] constant burden to deal with the city

[06:47] and I used to shout to everyone all the

[06:49] time you don't you don't get who these

[06:51] people are but everyone I knew didn't do

[06:54] it you know Bill Maher tried to pull

[06:57] some permits to get his soul Shack built

[07:01] famously a few years ago and now he

[07:03] hates red tape right because Bill Maher

[07:07] hardle blue leaning liberal had to deal

[07:11] with the city had to pull permits got

[07:14] screwed and then realize oh this is an

[07:18] sell and I I want less of this well

[07:21] every single one of these people in

[07:23] Malibu Palisades Santa Monica they're

[07:26] going to want to rebuild and guess what

[07:29] the coastal commission is going to get

[07:31] involved and the coastal commission is

[07:33] going to tell them no or going to tell

[07:35] them it's going to take four years to

[07:36] get a permit you're going to have a

[07:38] bunch of blue liberal people who would

[07:42] like to rebuild their homes in Malibu

[07:46] and Santa Monica and the palace say and

[07:48] they're going to have to go through the

[07:49] permit process and when they do they're

[07:52] going to be converted to Donald Trump
