Charlie Kirk and Pastor David Engelhardt Confront Sexual Anarchy, Canadian Truckers, and the Spiritual Battle Over America

Charlie Kirk sits down with New York City pastor and attorney David Engelhardt at Dream City Church in Scottsdale to discuss the spiritual war facing America. From supporting the Canadian trucker convoy fighting vaccine mandates to confronting a national satanic conference coming to Scottsdale, Kirk and Engelhart tackle sexual anarchy, the collapse of biblical identity, and why life is an investment, not a gift. Engelhart shares how his Manhattan church survived the Black Lives Matter movement's infiltration and explains the dangerous consequences of throwing off God's moral order. With a satanic convention scheduled for February 11-13 in Scottsdale and critical race theory dividing communities, Kirk and Engelhart call believers to prayer, action, and renewed commitment to biblical truth.

Freedom Night at Dream City Church

Charlie Kirk opened the evening by expressing gratitude for the growing community gathering monthly at Dream City Church in Scottsdale and Phoenix. He shared a powerful story from a previous Freedom Night event featuring Jack Hibbs, where nurses facing termination over vaccine mandates received immediate job offers after sharing their testimonies. Kirk announced that the event would continue as "Freedom Night in America" while attendees could still call it what they wished, demonstrating a spirit of cooperation with other organizations doing similar work.

The Rise of the Citizen and Fall of the Regime

Kirk highlighted what he called "the rise of the citizen and the fall of the regime," pointing to the Canadian trucker convoy as a prime example. The convoy formed in response to Canada's requirement that all truckers show proof of full vaccination, including boosters, or face severe restrictions. Unvaccinated Canadians cannot freely enter grocery stores without health escorts during limited hours, cannot move freely between provinces, and must quarantine for two weeks when entering Canada from the United States.

The truckers organized a massive convoy across the arctic tundra to Ottawa, peacefully occupying the streets and refusing to leave until tyrannical orders are lifted. Kirk emphasized that these are the essential workers who kept the economy functioning during lockdowns, yet they're being forced to choose between their livelihoods and bodily autonomy. He connected their civil disobedience to the biblical story of Daniel, who consciously chose to obey God rather than man, opening his window to pray despite government prohibition, which led to his placement in the lion's den. The promise remains the same: God will not forsake His children who honor His commandments against tyranny.

Political Engagement and the Church

Kirk addressed confusion among some pastors who claim politics doesn't matter. He argued that politics matters tremendously, pointing out that in Canada, pastors like Artur Pawlowski in Alberta have been arrested simply for holding church services. When government crosses certain lines, citizens risk arrest for basic freedoms. Kirk insisted that how we form government matters significantly to the body of Christ and the free expression of faith.

Satan Convention Coming to Scottsdale

In a sobering announcement, Kirk informed attendees that SatanCon, the national satanic conference, would be held in Scottsdale from February 11-13 at a local hotel. The event is sold out. Kirk noted the irony that Turning Point USA struggles to book hotels due to being labeled controversial, while satanists can rent entire ballrooms without issue.

The former Scottsdale mayor initially took a stand against allowing the Church of Satan to offer prayers at city council meetings, which Kirk praised as the right move. However, the mayor has since backed away from that position, claiming the satanic convention represents free speech. Kirk questioned whether satanic conventions were what the Founding Fathers envisioned as the fruits of liberty.

Programming for the event includes an "Impurity Ball" described as a display of bodily autonomy and the joys of sinning. Ironically, the satanic conference requires proof of vaccination and N95 masks at all times. Kirk pointed out that while satanists preach bodily autonomy, they enforce strict medical compliance. More concerning, the organization is working to implement after-school Satan clubs in public schools across Arizona and the country, with some already approved in places like Moline, Illinois.

Kirk called on believers to respond through prayer, fasting, and peaceful protest. He acknowledged the local Catholic diocese for organizing opposition and expressed hope for a large spiritual counterbalance. While recognizing the legal and political complexities, Kirk drew a clear line: "I draw the line at satan conferences."

Introducing Pastor David Engelhardt

Kirk welcomed Pastor David Engelhardt, a pastor, attorney, and board member at Turning Point USA, to discuss his new book "Good Kills." Engelhart pastors a church in lower Manhattan and has a unique background, having gone from pastoral ministry into law and then back to doing both simultaneously. He believes God divinely called him into this dual role, which has proven especially valuable given the battles the church faces today regarding constitutional rights and the ability to speak the gospel freely.

Engelhart's church has taken bold stands, refusing to check vaccination status at the door and opening the church for meals when unvaccinated members couldn't access restaurants. The church has faced intense challenges, particularly during the Black Lives Matter movement.

Life as Investment, Not Gift

One of the most compelling discussions centered on a fundamental misconception many Christians hold. Kirk admitted he had long believed the popular saying "life is a gift," often expressed in movies like Kung Fu Panda where the wise turtle declares that today is a gift. Engelhart corrected this notion, explaining that not a single scripture in the entire Bible says life is a gift. Christ is a gift, salvation is a gift, and the grace of God is a gift, but life comes with specific obligations.

Engelhart explained that God invests life into us and then expects us to do something with it, like the parable of the talents. A gift can be treated however one wants, but an investment comes with obligations. God breathed life into man and immediately gave instructions on what He wanted mankind to do. Romans 9 records Paul saying he would give his own salvation for his nation and people, demonstrating that the Bible teaches believers to love their nation deeply.

This distinction changes everything. People quickly forget birthday and Christmas gifts, but they never forget when someone invests in their business, counsels them through struggle, and creates obligations tied to support. The Christian life is not about God giving life and saying "do whatever you want as long as you don't sin that much." God calls believers to bring His kingdom to earth, exercise dominion, and save the nations He's given them.

Sexual Anarchy and God's Three-Part System

Engelhart introduced the concept of "sexual anarchy," which forms a major section of his book. He defined anarchy as throwing off all rules and obligations to do whatever one wants. In Matthew 19, Jesus established a three-part system for human sexuality: first, He made them male and female; second, He joined couples in sexual union as one flesh; third, this was meant to be a permanent relationship.

America has systematically dismantled this order in reverse. In the early 1990s, no-fault divorce came to California, and within two or three years, the divorce rate increased seven to eight times. Suddenly, children grew up without fathers or mothers at home. As a nation, America declared that permanent commitment could be thrown away without cause. Malachi says that when a man divorces his wife, he wears violence as a cloak before God.

The second step was questioning whether sexual union needed to be between male and female. Since at least the Obama administration, this has been culturally dismantled. The third and final pillar, the very first thing Jesus mentioned, that God made them male and female, is now destroyed in American culture. Apple has pregnant men emojis. At Google and many college campuses, it is considered hate speech to say only women can become pregnant.

Engelhart's father once asked him, "Wouldn't it be horrible if you didn't know if you were a boy or a girl?" His father wasn't thinking about future transgender movements; he was simply saying it would be awful to be so lost, so without identity. That is the culture we now inhabit because we've thrown off God's moral order. When we sin in sexuality, which is about creating identities, our own identity ultimately becomes destroyed.

From Liberal Activism to Forced Recruitment

Kirk expanded on how liberal movements evolve into authoritarian campaigns. Liberalism often starts by identifying downtrodden groups that need rights and acceptance. Sometimes these causes are legitimate, like women's suffrage or the anti-slavery movement. But activists never stop. They see progress as a reason to push further.

The transgender movement illustrates this progression. Phase one achieved media acceptance, like Vanity Fair featuring Bruce Jenner as Caitlyn Jenner. Phase two enacted laws for taxpayer-funded chemical castration and sexual reassignment surgery without parental consent for minors in Oregon and soon California. Phase three, now emerging, involves training activists to create more transgender people.

Kirk cited an alarming lawsuit in California where a mother is suing teachers for recruiting her daughter into becoming transgender through private closed-door sessions. The teachers have admitted this in California teacher union meetings. Arizona Christian University released a study showing 40 percent of young people ages 16 to 22 identify as gay, bisexual, or transgender. Kirk initially didn't believe these numbers, but hundreds of parents emailed confirming that 16 out of 20 students in their children's classes identify as LGBTQ. It has become a trendy social currency.

The Sodom and Gomorrah Warning

Engelhart shared insights from spending three weeks preaching through Sodom and Gomorrah, topics rarely addressed on Sunday mornings. He discovered that if you match the city names with their kings, Sodom means "place of burning" and Gomorrah means "place of drowning." The kings' names mean "son of evil" and "destruction."

These represent two natural gifts outside the bounds of blessing. A river inside its riverbed provides life, fishing, and beauty for families. But when the river floods beyond its banks, it brings horror and destruction. Fire contained in a fireplace warms families and creates community. But when fire is removed from its constraints and placed on the living room floor, everyone dies.

Sodom and Gomorrah picture the natural gift of sexuality outside the bounds that create blessing. It consumes entire societies. America is in the midst of that consumption. The only response is calling on Jesus and offering the truth that God has incredible beauty and paradise for humanity, while the lie brings consuming destruction. The blessing becomes a curse when it goes outside the borders and boundaries God established.

A Higher Hierarchy of Moral Order

Engelhart's book includes a chapter called "A Higher Hierarchy," explaining that Christians derive hierarchical moral order from Scripture. Jesus said that causing little ones to go astray would be worse than tying a millstone around your neck and throwing yourself into the sea. He rebuked the Pharisees for caring about bugs in their wine while swallowing entire camels, focusing on minute legal matters while ignoring giant moral issues that incentivized themselves.

This teaches that some sins are bug-sized and some are camel-sized sins that destroy entire societies. Murdering innocent life sits at the top of the hierarchy of moral order. This becomes even worse when people claim God is okay with it, doing evil in the name of God.

Modern culture illustrates this inverted hierarchy. Aggressive mask enforcement has consumed enormous resources and attention while 104,000 Americans die annually from fentanyl overdoses. People claim society can "walk and chew gum at the same time," solving all problems simultaneously. But if you think you can solve everything at once with equal effort and resources, you're claiming to be divine. Hierarchy means triage. Hospitals treat gunshot victims before common colds. Society and justice should operate the same way.

God's View of Freedom Over Safety

Engelhart pointed out that there are no prisons established in the Old Testament by the people of God. God never said to throw someone in a box for 20 years for stealing a camel and assume they'll be better when they emerge. This is because God values freedom over safety. God allows a snake in the Garden. He allows things in our lives to buffet us and transform us into the nature and character of Christ.

The Westminster Catechism explains that Old Testament ceremonial laws ended with Christ, but civil laws should inform our society for "the general equity thereof," providing God's paradigm and wisdom for what matters and what doesn't. These foundational laws have been forgotten, so society randomly tries ideas and hopes they work, with devastating results.

The Obligation to Love Your Nation

Romans 9 records Paul saying he would give his own salvation for his nation, his race, those of his own blood. The Bible teaches believers to love their nation with such depth that they would have broken hearts for their home country. This connects to honoring mother and father, the only commandment that comes with a promise and mentions your country: "Honor your father and mother so that you may live long in the land." It incorporates obligation to family and nation. No other commandment touches both.

America lives in a church culture that has mostly forgotten obligations and mostly talks about gifts. Yet gifts without strings are quickly forgotten. No one remembers what they received for Christmas five years ago. But when someone invests in your business, counsels you through crisis, and creates mutual obligations, you never forget. That's the difference between a gift and an investment.

Identity Politics and Tribalization

When asked about identity, both Kirk and Engelhart emphasized that the only identity that truly matters is identity in Christ. Paul wrote that there is neither slave nor Greek nor Jew, we are all one in Jesus Christ. First Samuel says God doesn't look at outward appearance but at the heart.

Kirk pointed out that the most racially divided places in America are prisons. In environments of fear, control, and scarcity with no commerce or free speech, people tribalize by race for survival. Whites, Mexicans, and Blacks separate with little co-mingling. This happens because in fearful totalitarian settings, people pledge allegiance to those who look like them for protection.

The current push for identity politics attempts to re-tribalize Americans into a state of perpetual fear and control. God's promise through Christ breaks us free from wild tribalism where we only associate with people who look like us. Only through Christ do we care about what's inside, not outside. The gospel is the only thing that will truly unify the country, which is precisely why it's the one thing being destroyed and ignored.

The New Secular Religion

Kirk argued that while America is far from becoming a Christian theocracy, it has become a theocracy of secular religion. There is no scientific, reasonable, or rational explanation for two years of restrictive measures except as a religion of secular science operating like an incantation. Their religious ceremony is vaccination, like receiving the Eucharist. Their virtue signal, their cross, is the mask.

This secular religion has revealing hierarchies. When Black Lives Matter activists didn't want vaccination, it didn't matter. Vaccinations trumped racial identity politics. When Kyrie Irving, a beloved Black NBA player earning 26 million dollars annually, refused vaccination, he was forced to stay home. Biomedical compliance mattered more than racial politics or economic power. When Dave Chappelle, a darling of Hollywood, made fun of the transgender movement in his Netflix special, his Blackness didn't protect him. Transgenderism in this current moment matters more than racial politics.

The Deeper Transhumanist Agenda

Kirk suggested that the transgender movement actually matters even more than biomedical mandates, and they work together. The transgender movement is an introductory phase to strip people of their humanity and merge them with machines, called transhumanism. If you can choose any gender, why not have an exoskeleton or machine integration? This is what Meta and the metaverse pursue. Kids staring at screens all day long represents where Silicon Valley is heading.

This explains the insistence on transgender ideology. If you stop being a man or woman, maybe you can stop being human and plug into some machine. This is Silicon Valley's control and profit motive for the future. Extensive literature documents this agenda. The goal resembles Ready Player One meets Inception, where people hook up to machines all day, controlled by five companies that direct their thoughts and feelings. The real world becomes the unreal world where everyone wears goggles constantly. This is the deeper significance of the transgender movement that few want to discuss.

All Laws Are Moral Laws

Addressing concerns about theocracy, Engelhart explained that all laws are moral. A 25 mph speed limit in a school zone is a moral law because it values human life and protecting children. It's not an arbitrary idea from humanism and logic. It flows from valuing human life and not wanting to kill. Almost all moral laws have religious underpinnings unless they have arbitrary humanistic foundations.

The concept of the "Dark Ages" frustrates Engelhart. Plutarch, the father of humanism, coined this term, and now everyone accepts that when the church ruled, it was dark. This secular and humanistic interpretation warns that church influence brings darkness. This is historically inaccurate. Natural law exists, everyone sees it, and natural law requires a natural law giver. There are proper places where human beings flourish and places where they don't.

Questions and Practical Application

During the question-and-answer session, a young person asked about friends involved in witchcraft and Harry Potter-related practices. Kirk and Engelhart both urged caution, especially for children. Exposure to witchcraft and sorcery at a young age can allow digestion of unclean spirits for many years. The Bible explicitly lists sorcery among the fruits of the anti-spirit. Parents must carefully monitor who their children spend time with, as good company corrupts bad morals.

Another attendee asked about restoring normative values without becoming a theocracy like the Pilgrims fled. Kirk acknowledged this tension, explaining that the Founders accomplished this for a time. They were clear that pluralism didn't mean accepting everything. There's tension between liberty and licentiousness (license to do everything). Colonial states had laws against behaviors like public drunkenness, derived from biblical principles, because these behaviors made America less free and less likely to glorify God.

The challenge lies in recognizing that salvation must come through the church while also contesting for righteousness in government. The concern about theocracy is ironic because America already has one, a secular religion running the country with religious fervor in implementing policies that defy science and reason.

Critical Race Theory's Dangerous Implementation

A congressional candidate asked about Critical Race Theory's integration into schools and colleges. Kirk explained that CRT has become a top issue, but many remain confused about it. He recommended a 59-minute podcast conversation with James Lindsay, author of "Race Marxism," who despite being an atheist, has concluded through his research that CRT is literally from the devil, sowing division, distrust, chaos, and confusion with constantly changing rules.

CRT isn't confined to colleges. It spreads to Congress and corporate boardrooms, making America more dangerous and unpleasant. In New York City, monoclonal antibodies were distributed based on racial preferences and quotas, with white patients sent to the back of the line. Medical racial discrimination is ruining medicine. United Airlines announced 50 percent of new pilots would be Black, prioritizing diversity over competency in situations where lives depend on skill.

A Call to Spiritual Action

Kirk and Engelhart closed by emphasizing that America faces a spiritual war made manifest in physical reality. The Canadian truckers demonstrate peaceful civil disobedience in the tradition of Daniel. The satanic conference in Scottsdale represents literal darkness encroaching on communities. Sexual anarchy destroys identity and society. Critical race theory divides rather than unifies.

The answer remains rooted in biblical truth, prayer, fasting, and action. Believers must love what is good and hate what is evil. They must remember that life is an investment with obligations, not merely a gift. They must uphold God's three-part system for sexuality, maintain proper hierarchy in moral concerns, and recognize that Christ has already given victory over Satan. The book ends with believers winning, but the battle requires engagement, not passivity.
