Legal Immigration Versus Illegal Entry
Charlie Kirk responded to a question from Sasara, the vice president of the Turning Point USA chapter at San Diego State University, who emigrated legally from Ukraine. She asked what Kirk thinks about those who cut in line in front of legal immigrants like herself, and what should be done about illegal immigration.
Kirk began by thanking her family for coming to America legally, stating that legal immigration needs to be the standard. He described people who come into the country illegally as "line cutters, border jumpers" who are "squatting in our country" and should be deported and sent back to their country of origin—every single one of them.
The Law Is Clear on Illegal Entry
Kirk emphasized that there is a law on the books prohibiting people from breaking into America, but the government has decided not to enforce that law. Those crossing illegally know they're breaking the law, and many claim asylum as a way to circumvent the legal immigration process. Kirk expressed skepticism about these asylum claims, particularly when people are coming from countries like China, Iran, Russia, and over 115 other nations currently represented in the invasion happening at the southern border.
National Security Risks at the Border
Kirk highlighted the serious national security concerns posed by the current border situation. Between 10,000 to 15,000 people are walking into the country without DNA testing or background checks. He noted that well over 1,500 people on the Department of Homeland Security Terror Watch List have walked across the southern border.
He shared a recent example from three days prior to his remarks, when Border Patrol apprehended someone who openly stated, "I want to go bomb New York City." Kirk praised Border Patrol for doing their job and flagging this individual for further questioning, preventing a potential terrorist attack.
The Moral Distinction Between Legal and Illegal Immigration
Kirk called it "reprehensible and disgusting" that families who wait in line, fill out paperwork, wait their turn, and pay fees are treated as a moral equivalent to someone who flies to Mexicali, takes a bus to the Yuma Mexico border, claims asylum, and cuts in line. Legal immigrants do things the right way, and that distinction matters.
He concluded by affirming that America is a nation of laws and order. Every single person who breaks immigration law should be returned to their country of origin. This stance, according to Kirk, is about respecting those who follow the rules and maintaining the integrity of the American legal system.
