Candace Owens Uncovers Erika Kirk's Swedish Family Connections and Pattern of Misrepresentations About Her Past

February 25, 2026

Candace Owens launches an investigative series into Erika Kirk, the woman who assumed leadership of Turning Point USA following Charlie Kirk's public assassination. Despite claims of being raised by a single mother, records reveal a very different story involving present fathers, Swedish citizenship pursuits, mysterious family connections to the Rothstein family and Zion's Gate in Jerusalem, and ties to gambling operations spanning multiple generations. When simple questions about her background go unanswered and a two-minute trailer triggers an aggressive PR campaign, Owens asks why the truth requires such protection. What emerges is a pattern of inconsistencies about Erika's upbringing, her family relationships, and her rapid transformation into a devoted political spouse.

The Untouchable Widow Narrative

A peculiar situation has emerged where a young woman with no professional qualifications has been placed at the helm of a charity organization that generated over a quarter billion dollars last year. The media insists the public has no right to inquire about her background or credentials. The justification offered is simple: her husband was murdered, therefore she has the right to assume his position. Despite Turning Point USA being a tax-exempt charity that pays no taxes on its massive income or the alleged billions it's projected to earn through a deal with someone named Pierre, talking heads claim that citizens simply wanting to ensure the person running the organization is honest about her identity makes them monsters.

The message being delivered is clear: go to work, accept the unsolicited emails and text messages reminding you that Charlie Kirk was executed in broad daylight, and that his widow needs your 401k and house. The emails arrive at an alarming rate while virtually nothing the federal authorities reveal about his murder makes objective sense. But if anyone feels uncomfortable about any of this, they're constantly reminded that she is a grieving widow. That phrase has become this year's "trust the science" - a thought-terminating cliche designed to shut down inquiry.

The mainstream media effectively tells the public to accept the situation without question, to allow Erika Kirk to grieve in the privacy of the billion-dollar charity she took over. The messaging employs the same emotional manipulation used during pandemic lockdowns: resist your human instincts, obey authority, and if you have questions or concerns about who Erika Kirk is and why she seems to have lied repeatedly on record, you're destroying Charlie's legacy.

An Aggressive Preemptive Strike

Importantly, nothing substantial had even been released yet. A two-minute trailer resulted in one of the most aggressive preemptive PR strikes ever witnessed. Photos of the producer's infant daughter were posted online, along with images of the makeup artist and family members. Voicemails flooded in for the production team. This series was initially planned for just three episodes, but the reaction has inspired plans for season two and three.

The principle is straightforward: innocent people should not be targeted, attacked, or shot in the neck in broad daylight. No one objected when entire investigative series and books were written about Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, or Meghan Markle because they're public figures. Ten years in politics has meant enduring non-stop exposés and investigations. But somehow Erika is presented as untouchable. The truth does not require a multi-million dollar PR campaign, nor does it fear inspection.

The Single Mother Story That Doesn't Add Up

Something is demonstrably wrong with Erika Kirk's public narrative. Despite an aggressive influence campaign that included a signed letter from the Secretary of Treasury assuring everyone that Turning Point is an above-board organization, and dramatic videos from supporters calling investigations "sheer evil," the public remains unconvinced that she is simply a grieving widow. She's also the CEO and chairman of an organization, and that matters.

During preparation for this series, investigative journalist Elizabeth Lane went viral for articulating what millions worldwide were feeling but couldn't express. Lane wrote about reaching a point where she finds Erika Kirk deeply disturbing, not because of rumors or gossip, but because of consistent observable patterns of behavior. Lane comes from the world of acting and modeling, having spent years around social climbers, opportunists, and image curators. Most such people are shallow and harmless, but a few are dangerous. Lane believes Erika falls into the latter category because of how calculated and performative her ambition appears.

The Uncomfortable Truth About Authenticity

What stands out immediately is the reaction Erika provokes in other people, even those who support her publicly. The private reaction is consistent: "I can't watch her." This isn't mere criticism but a physical discomfort. People turn off interviews because the presentation feels artificial to the point of being unbearable. Research in psychology shows that humans are highly sensitive to emotional incongruence - mismatches between facial expression, tone, and content. When affect appears simulated rather than genuine, the brain registers it as a threat, activating discomfort and avoidance even if the person cannot consciously explain why.

Studies on psychopathy, particularly those building on psychologist Robert Hare's work, describe traits such as rehearsed emotional displays and shallow affect. These traits create what observers experience as an uncanny interpersonal dynamic. The discomfort arises because most people rarely encounter extreme affective mimicry in everyday life, so the brain struggles to categorize what it's detecting. Erika possessed every tool to sell her story organically except one: authentic emotion. The entire narrative of what happened could have helped her, but the FBI's mistakes, Turning Point USA's alleged lies, and her perceived fake performance changed everything.

The Absence of a Single Mother

According to public statements, Erika France was raised by a strong, independent, entrepreneurial single mother who taught her to be a good Christian - a devout Catholic mother named Lori Frantzve. This Catholic mother has been married four times. More importantly, Erika told the New York Times days after Charlie's public assassination that the least traumatizing part about potentially raising her children alone was that she had seen the example set by her mother growing up. People magazine later echoed this, stating that after welcoming her daughter in November 1988, France divorced Erika's father, Kent Fray, and raised her as a single mother in Scottsdale, Arizona. Lorie spent nearly two decades working for General Electric before founding multiple companies in the network security industry.

The only problem is that none of this is true. Erika was not raised by a single mother at all. Erika's father, Kent Fray (who goes by Kent), was always in her life. So much so that for entire years of her childhood, Kent was actually a stay-at-home dad. In Erika's own words during a podcast appearance, she acknowledged this directly, stating that her dad was a stay-at-home dad for a few years starting when she was four, calling it "really sweet and really special."

Erika was ten years old when her parents divorced in 1998, meaning her father was very much part of her early childhood and did not stop being involved in her teenage years. Classmates and past boyfriends are bewildered as to why Erika publicly represents as though she doesn't have a relationship with Kent. Even removing Kent from the equation, Erika was raised with her stepfather Larry Ginta in her home. Her high school yearbook includes Kent in a collage along with his parents, her grandparents Carl and Elaine, reasonably indicating her father was in her life. The yearbook also features her stepfather Larry prominently because he had been a fixture in her life since before her parents' divorce was finalized. Both Larry and his son appear in the collage, and classmates confirmed that Larry and Lorie were together since Erika's elementary school days.

Erika grew up with what's now termed a "bonus dad" situation - both her biological father and stepfather figure were present, all living in and around the Scottsdale area. Why the public misrepresentation? This would be offensive to any stay-at-home father to suddenly have someone claim it was all done alone by the mother.

The Birthday Mystery and Document Irregularities

Throughout this investigation, there are numerous small wrinkles in Erika's story. These discrepancies serve a broader purpose, similar to an intentional strategy of deception described in Xavier Poussard's book about how media creates and curates a legend by intentionally making minor edits or overlooking certain dates. Small adjustments made over a long period aren't noticeable even though they ultimately amount to significant deceptions. Minor tweaks over time that almost look like mistakes raise the question: do people really make these kinds of mistakes?

Erika France Fray was reportedly born on November 20, 1988, in Cincinnati, Ohio. A newspaper relic announcing her birth appeared two weeks later on December 6, stating she was born at Good Samaritan Hospital to Kent and Lori France. Interestingly, Good Samaritan Hospital used to be the US Marine Hospital, which once caused scandal for unethically experimenting on patients' brains. The newspaper clipping indicates Erika was born on November 20, which she maintains today. But oddly, that would be news to her parents.

Kent and Lorie, for whatever reason, think Erika was born two days later on November 22. This is known from their 1998 divorce filings. On the initial divorce filing, Lori lists Erika as having been born on November 22 multiple times. The filing done by her mother Lori only has four statements of fact - essentially a one-pager. One fact states that Kent and Lorie were married on November 20, 1995, in Marblehead, Massachusetts, meaning they decided to get married on what would have been Erika's seventh birthday according to the birthday she claims, but the document says she was born two days later.

Attached to the July 20, 1998 filing is another document - a separation agreement that is not notarized and not dated, making it questionable. It completely edits the marriage date between Kent and Lorie from November 20, 1995, down to November 7, 1982 - a casual 13 years and 13 days wiped out. As a notary, one cannot simply skip over a notary portion of a document. Research into Ohio law and other publicly available divorce documents shows they require proper notarization.

The Fastest Divorce With Hand-Edited Dates

The divorce decree is even more absurd. Lori filed on July 20, 1998, and received a decree on November 10 of the same year - approximately three months later, remarkably fast for a divorce. Once again, the initial marriage date between Kent and Lori is listed as November 20, 1995, in Marblehead, Massachusetts. But oddly, someone went in and tried to edit that date by hand afterward, adjusting the wedding date down to 1985, not 1982, apparently hoping no one would catch it. The un-notarized 1982 seen in the initial filing would have been too obvious, so this time they attempted to edit by hand, moving the date back just ten years instead of thirteen.

This is not subtle or normal, and it's deeply troubling. That's not how modifications work on court documents. You cannot just use a pen and write something on a divorce decree. People have to initial, date, and witness such changes. The suspicion is that this was done after the fact, perhaps by someone with a friend at the county clerk's office responsible for scanning documents into the system. The divorce decree includes yet another casually added separation agreement that remains un-notarized with an entirely different marriage date. In that separation agreement, Kent France waives his rights to an attorney with no notary present, simply agreeing that Lori's lawyer can represent him on everything.

Four different plausible marriage dates between Kent and Lori Frantzve exist across two documents. No trace of their alleged marriage could be found in Marblehead, Massachusetts, across any date. Marblehead is notably the recognized birthplace of the Marine Corps - an interesting detail as Marines keep appearing throughout this story. While there are divorce-related documents available in Ohio online that aren't publicly accessible for privacy reasons, making it plausible errors were corrected, the point is demonstrating how even the most mundane facts about Erika's life are frustrating to verify.

The Swedish Connection and the Morfar Problem

That's just an appetizer, because an interesting email arrived from Sweden that led to even more questions about Erika's paternity. Erika France Fray is Syrian-Lebanese on her mother's side and Swedish on her father's side. Something immediately odd about Erika is how deeply she identifies as Swedish despite her public insistence that she was raised by a single mother. From a social perspective, if Erika was indeed raised by a single mother, wouldn't one expect her to identify more deeply with those Lebanese-Syrian roots? One might even understand if she resented her Swedish roots, thinking her father didn't do anything. To the contrary, Erika feels so deeply attached to her Scandinavian roots that in 2019, she began the process of obtaining dual citizenship, posting about it with "Dual citizenship commenced."

She comes from a very long line of Swedish Freemasons. She was definitively close to her grandfather, as evidenced by many posts over the years referring to him affectionately as her "morfar." She posts about him and her love for him repeatedly. She even mentions her grandmother, his wife Elaine, saying she is her "angel in heaven" whom she calls "mormor." In another post reflecting on losing him in 2016, she again addresses him as her morfar.

This presents a significant wrinkle. Fans in Sweden sent emails about this particular post, and what they explained made everything worth reconsidering. The Swedish language is quite literal. "Morfar" translates to "mother's father" - mor (mother) and far (father). "Farfar" translates to "father's father." These have entirely different meanings. One would never call their father's father "morfar." That's what Erika is doing. Carl Kenneth Fray is Erika's paternal grandfather - her father's father, making him her farfar, not morfar.

As one Swedish viewer explained, no Swedish grandfather would ever allow someone to refer to him as morfar if he was not actually their morfar. If he was their farfar, he would correct them. This would be akin to being someone's grandfather and allowing them to call you uncle - it's simply wrong. Words have meaning. So why is her very Swedish grandfather, from a long line of Swedish Freemasons, allowing Erika to call him "my mother's father"? This is an incredibly interesting wrinkle. Is Erika lying? Is she making a mistake? Or is she accidentally revealing the truth?

The Rothstein Family Connection

Other interesting details emerge. On March 21, 2019, Erika visits Jerusalem with Charlie. At Zion's Gate in Jerusalem, she posts a picture with a curious caption that reads in part: "Meet Darla, a Romanian Jew that now calls Israel home. She was sitting by my family's dedication sign for restoring the Zion gate in Jerusalem." Why is Erika describing Zion's Gate as her family's dedication?

Why does her one-time roommate Nicole Rothstein allege that half of their family - referring to her and Erika's family - is Jewish? Nicole also claimed that Erika was her best friend and her cousin. The Rothstein family's dedication is Zion's Gate. Nicole wouldn't be lying if she posted it was her family's dedication. But how did Erika and Nicole Rothstein get so close?

If Erika is telling the truth about her paternity, Nicole Rothstein would be Erika's father's sister's husband's previous wife's daughter's daughter. In other words, zero blood relation, not even remotely related. It would be unusual to call each other cousins with such distant non-relation. Erika goes further, posting a tribute online to Alan Rothstein, Nicole's father, calling him "uncle." If Erika is telling the truth about who her parents are, Alan Rothstein would be her father's sister's husband's previous wife's daughter's husband - again, absolutely zero blood relation. Yet Erika is extraordinarily close to him as well.

The family tree shows how removed this relationship is - it's so far removed it barely fits on the chart. Erika's aunt Carla is married to a man named Jack, but Jack was previously married to someone else named Edna. Nicole comes from Edna and Jack's line, which has nothing to do with Erika France. How did she get so close to these people? Why is she referring to them as her family and declaring that Zion's Gate, which is actually their family's dedication with nothing to do with her aunt Carla, is her family's dedication? This makes no sense unless we consider another possibility.

The Jack Solomon Connection

There's one way this could make sense - her closeness to the Rothsteins, her dedication to Jerusalem - if and only if we take Erika literally when she says morfar. Assuming Grandpa Carl is indeed her mother's father would mean Lori obviously wouldn't be her mother. It would also mean Kent, by nature of being a man, is not her father. Looking for her mother's father leads to examining Kent's siblings who are female, providing only three options. The first choice would be Carla because she's married to Jack Solomon, and Zion's Gate is Jack Solomon's dedication. If Carla was her mother, it would make sense. Solomon is the man who financed the restoration of Zion's Gate in Jerusalem. If Jack Solomon was her father, then Nicole Rothstein would indeed be her blood relative cousin. But this is purely speculation.

Factually, Jack Solomon eventually married Carla Fray in 2002. Jack and Carla live in Utah. He graduated from what is now known as Utah Valley University and is very involved with the institution. It was formerly Utah Valley State College when he graduated. He also created the Center for Jewish Studies on their campus. With all the money he poured into that university, one might think he could call someone to get more footage of Tyler Robinson or Carla. Carla is married to the man and could have perhaps made it to the hospital when Charlie was shot and killed. Why did none of them make it to the hospital when they're all so nearby? Carla still lives in Utah. This happened in their backyard. Their family has significant power at UVU. Why not Auntie Carla rather than Stacy Sheridan accompanying Erika onto Air Force 2 as her husband's body was escorted to Arizona?

Jack Solomon was also a professor at BYU in political science and former director of the university's Jerusalem Center. He served on the board of the Center for Jewish Studies at UVU. Zion's Gate is his dedication. How did Jack get so rich? In 1968, Jack and his business partner Norman Vance began a company called Advanced Patent Technology that manufactured slot machines. Per his bio, in 1974, Jack gathered more than $5 million to purchase United Coin, a manufacturer of slot machines and holder of profitable Southern Nevada slot machine routes. In 1979, they announced plans for the Colorado Bell Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, the first of a series of hotels to be built in the Las Vegas area. They had significant power in that region. The gambling connection keeps coming up throughout this investigation.

A Family History of Gambling and Fraud

While one cannot openly suggest that Lori was committing fraud, what can be confirmed is that if she was breaking the law, fraud is something Lori's family is historically known for - they essentially arrived in this country doing just that. Lori France was born Loretta Abbis, named after her Syrian grandmother Loretta Abbis. The Abbis family history is steeped in gambling and casinos. As this series progresses, the history and present of gambling and casinos becomes increasingly relevant.

The original Loretta Abbis, Erika's great-grandmother who died in 1990, was constantly arrested for running illegal slot machines. She came over from Syria and immediately began operations involving fraud in Pennsylvania. A 1941 article shows her testifying that she ran numbers, stating "Loretta Abbis of Washington testified that they engaged in the numbers business and had been arrested on numerous occasions." Another article from 1944 shows her pleading guilty to a lottery charge. State police executed a search warrant at her house and found a quantity of number slips. She was sentenced to pay costs and $200 or serve five months in county jail.

This was a family operation. Her husband was Mason Abbis, who was magnificently fraudulent - high-speed chases down highways with lottery tickets blowing in the wind. A 1935 article describes how he was overtaken in his automobile after a chase of several miles after failing to obey an officer's order to stop. Mason Abbis was arrested and held for court in default of a $1,000 bond on a charge of conducting a lottery and was fined $10 and costs for refusing to stop when ordered by a uniformed officer. During the race along the National Pike ending in West Alexander, Abbis allegedly threw a package of 100 lottery tickets from his car. Officers recovered the tickets as evidence.

Lottery gambling and slot machines appear not just on Erika's maternal Abbis side, but also the Swedish Fray side. The difference is the Swedish side appears to have been involved legally. Carl Kenneth Fray, Erika's paternal grandfather, participated extensively in horse racing. More crucially, he was an executive at the AmErikan Bank Note Company in Illinois, responsible for printing lottery tickets - a significant contract. A 1974 newspaper shows him examining the first tickets of the initial press run for Illinois state lottery tickets being distributed to agents.

The Tesseract School and Project Looking Glass

There was significant reaction to discussing time travel and specifically Project Looking Glass, the CIA program that allegedly involved stolen Sumerian technology to peer into the future. Imagine the surprise when examining Erika's early years revealed unexpected connections. The impression given was that Erika moved to Arizona after her parents divorced, placing her in Arizona after 1998. Her parents didn't divorce until she was ten, though it's possible that as a child, she associated divorce with earlier separations.

The true timeline shows Erika was in Cincinnati, Ohio, for daycare in 1992, attending Walnut Corner Children's Center located inside a massive corporate building. Thereafter, she moved to Arizona and attended a school they have virtually tried to wipe from public existence. Another school by the same name continued longer, but this particular school came to fruition when a man named John T. Goalie incorporated Educational Alternatives in Minnesota.

John T. Goalie was significant - he had formerly helped launch Roundup for Monsanto. This time he was pioneering charter schools in AmErika, teaming up with the Walton family and the Bush family. He and Jeb Bush went on Good Morning AmErika to announce the project. The schools would be known as Tesseract schools, named after the children's book "A Wrinkle in Time," a story about time travel where protagonists fly through space and time using a tesseract to rescue their family from evil forces - a battle between good and evil using time travel.

When these powerful families decided to start the Tesseract school in Arizona, they began with a small school in Paradise Valley. That specific school, which Erika attended, is virtually impossible to find documents about. They needed a space and decided to rent a building owned by a Jewish school called Gan Yaladim's Looking Glass School. So Tesseract was placed into a Looking Glass - the timing of the panic about discussing Project Looking Glass suddenly makes sense, as though they thought the connection to her attendance at this elite Looking Glass school was already known.

Tesseract itself was exceedingly Jewish in terms of administration, run by Jewish executive directors with Jewish teachers. Yearbooks confirm Erika attended from 1995-1996 in first grade, 1996-1997 in second grade, and 1997-1998 in third grade. Finding this Tesseract connection was significant because it unlocked important information about Erika's life and connections. Speaking to people who attended that specific school in Paradise Valley, which got shut down in the year 2000 while other Tesseract schools under different ownership continued, reveals interesting players involved in this school that went down for fraud - robbing the piggy bank, a recurring theme.
