Candace Owens Confronts Gender Ideology Claims at Georgia Tech on Charlie Kirk's Live Free Tour

Candace Owens faces off with students at Georgia Tech during Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA's Live Free Tour, addressing claims about historical transgender identity among Native Americans and biological men competing in women's sports. The exchanges highlight the clash between progressive gender ideology and biological reality, with Owens defending the integrity of women's sports while students attempt to reframe history. From Native American spiritual practices to the controversy surrounding swimmers like Lia Thomas, Owens maintains that biological facts cannot be erased by feelings or historical revisionism, no matter how much activists try to blur the lines.

Challenging Historical Revisionism on Gender Identity

During a live event at Georgia Tech hosted by Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA as part of the Live Free Tour, Candace Owens engaged in heated exchanges with students over gender ideology. The first confrontation began when a student claimed that "two-spirited people" in Native American tribes proved that transgender individuals have existed for thousands of years, therefore contradicting the idea that modern gender ideology is a recent phenomenon.

Owens immediately challenged this premise, pointing out the dramatic increase in people identifying as transgender. She questioned how we went from zero transgender people in her high school graduating class to an explosion of transgender identification today. When the student insisted on the historical precedent of "two-spirited" individuals in multiple Native American tribes, Owens requested specific historical evidence while noting that Native Americans also practiced cannibalism, asking whether we should adopt all historical practices simply because they existed.

The student provided some names, claiming these were "trans Native Americans," but Owens clarified that what likely occurred was a spiritual belief system rather than physical gender transition. She emphasized that Native Americans were highly spiritual people who used various substances, which could lead to different perceptions of reality. However, she drew a clear distinction between someone having spiritual feelings about gender and the modern practice of surgical intervention to change one's body.

Owens stressed that there is no historical evidence of Native Americans performing genital surgeries to change their sex, which is fundamentally different from today's transgender movement. She compared it to people who take substances like ayahuasca and have visions of past lives, noting that having a feeling or belief does not change biological reality.

The Battle Over Women's Sports

The second confrontation centered on biological males competing in women's sports. A student attempted to trap Owens by asking about a case in Texas where "a boy who won the girls wrestling state championship" should have been allowed to compete in that division. The student revealed that this individual was "actually born female and forced to compete in that division despite being on" hormones.

Owens responded that she believes a man taking down a woman on a mat should warrant a call to the police and should not be considered sport. She expressed openness to transgender people having their own competitive division, even saying she would "love to watch it." However, she made clear that what is unacceptable is allowing biological men to compete in women's divisions where they will naturally dominate due to physical advantages.

When the student challenged her about swimmer Lia Thomas, claiming Thomas went from second place to first, Owens corrected her, stating that as someone who competed in athletics herself, Thomas was not in second place when competing against men. The student attempted to interrupt, but Owens insisted on being allowed to answer the question she was asked, calling the constant interruptions "obnoxious."

Owens referenced Riley Gaines, who has spoken publicly about competing against Lia Thomas and how unfair it was. She reiterated her openness to transgender individuals having their own category at the Olympics, high schools, and universities, but remained firm that biological men should not compete against women. She pointed to actual Olympic records, noting the time differences between men's and women's events in sprints and other competitions as evidence of biological reality.

Addressing the Separate But Equal Claim

The student attempted one final gotcha moment, sarcastically saying, "I love that your solution is separate but equal," trying to compare Owens' position to racial segregation. Owens immediately shut this down by pointing out that we already have separate men's and women's divisions in sports, asking if the student considered that "separate but equal." This effectively ended the exchange, with Owens moving on to the next question.

Throughout both confrontations, Owens maintained that biological reality cannot be erased by feelings, historical revisionism, or progressive ideology. She emphasized that male and female differences are rooted in biology, and that creating fair competition requires acknowledging these differences rather than pretending they don't exist.
