[00:43] Charlie wrote this uh about a month

[00:45] before he was less than a month before

[00:47] he was assassinated. Uh he said this is

[00:50] the social compact breaking down and

[00:52] he's reacting to a graph of estimated

[00:55] percentage of 30-year-olds who are both

[00:56] married and homeowners. So if you go

[00:58] back to it looks like what 1950 it was

[01:01] over 50%.

[01:02] >> Mhm. And then you fast forward to 2020s

[01:07] basically and it's less than 15%. His

[01:10] here's a formula for fixing this. Mass

[01:12] deportations. Stop the H-1B scam.

[01:15] Dramatically reduce legal immigration.

[01:17] End chen chain migration and the visa

[01:19] lottery. Build 10 million homes for

[01:21] Americans. Crushed the college cartel.

[01:24] And the I, by the way, I not to work

[01:27] backwards from Charlie's list, but we've

[01:28] been talking about his book, The College

[01:30] Scam, which you should all buy and check

[01:31] it out because it's more relevant than

[01:33] ever. colleges have the the the the lack

[01:38] of I would just say

[01:42] real training that is going on at the

[01:43] college level training Americans for

[01:45] actual jobs is really really depressing

[01:49] and they get you into all this debt. You

[01:52] are more worried about paying off your

[01:53] college loans than buying a house,

[01:55] getting a mortgage, things like that.

[01:57] You delay these really formational life

[02:00] experiences like having kids, getting

[02:01] married. Mikey, you got married young,

[02:03] and we love that. We, you know, it's not

[02:06] going to work for everybody. Sometimes

[02:07] you don't find the right person. I have

[02:09] a lot of I have a lot of sympathy for

[02:10] people that don't don't get married

[02:12] young because they they can't find the

[02:13] right person. But you should be, we

[02:15] should be uh I think ratcheting up that

[02:17] expectation. Start your life. Start your

[02:20] life.

[02:20] >> If if Charlie's death proves anything,

[02:22] it's like don't waste time. That's

[02:24] bitter. When you look back at your life

[02:25] and you look, I wasted time. And we want

[02:27] to set our kids up

[02:28] >> so that they don't have to waste time.

[02:29] They can get started right

[02:30] [clears throat] away. P personally, you

[02:32] know, I maybe this is a story that'll

[02:34] help that situation. My wife and I have

[02:35] discussed this many times. We waited too

[02:37] long. We we were dating in college. We

[02:39] were dating at 19 years old. We didn't

[02:41] get married until I was 27. I think she

[02:43] was 26. And then we didn't have our

[02:45] first kid until we were in our 30s. And

[02:47] like we were we bought into the idea of,

[02:49] okay, you got to buy a house. You got to

[02:50] do XYZ in your career before you're

[02:52] ready to do all that sort of stuff. And

[02:54] what I found out having kids now is I

[02:57] used to think I was productive. I think

[02:59] the more kids you have, the more

[03:00] productive you actually become. And so

[03:02] if you can get that started earlier,

[03:04] there's a tangible benefit to that. And

[03:06] I am a testament to

[03:07] >> So is Mikey.

[03:08] >> I wish I Well, I wish I would have just

[03:09] >> Oh, the opposite. Yeah.

[03:10] >> No, we I wish we would have gotten we

[03:12] would have started sooner, like had we

[03:13] gotten married three years ago.

[03:14] >> I wish I would have had kids probably

[03:16] two years earlier than I did.

[03:17] >> Yeah. So that's not a huge difference,

[03:19] but totally

[03:20] >> probably probably like seven or eight.

[03:21] We we should have gotten married sooner.

[03:23] We should have had kids sooner. And

[03:24] honestly, you know, career-wise, who

[03:26] knows where I would have been. I I've

[03:28] gotten so much more productive since

[03:29] kids. Well, message received on the

[03:31] kids, guys.

[03:33] >> Mikey, this is a nice [laughter] little

[03:34] hint.

[03:35] >> It's an intervention.

[03:36] >> Yeah, but I I will say Charlie was the

[03:38] big reason why I got married young. He

[03:40] said, "When you date, date with the

[03:41] intention to marry and then get married

[03:43] young. Have more children than you can

[03:45] afford." I am working on it. We're going

[03:47] to get there.

[03:48] >> And then uh

[03:49] >> we're working on the you not being able

[03:50] to afford them.

[03:51] >> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah. No, but even like

[03:53] you just do it. Do it. Yeah. Do what

[03:56] society tells you not.

[03:57] >> I will tell you that God will bring the

[03:58] provision. What I found in my life is

[04:00] that when you set out on big, bold,

[04:02] audacious things, the provision comes.

[04:04] I'm not saying be reckless or anything

[04:05] like that, but I mean, it goes back to

[04:07] that interview with that Charlie had

[04:08] with Tucker. I mean, it was I think it

[04:10] was the first time we had Tucker at

[04:11] Amfest

[04:12] >> and he's like, "You're about to go talk

[04:13] to our our students." This is like 2021

[04:15] maybe.

[04:16] >> And he said, and Tucker was like, "Have

[04:18] more kids than you can afford. Take a

[04:19] job you're not qualified. Live boldly."

[04:21] Like, you know, don't waste time. And I

[04:24] think that those those things are so so

[04:26] valuable. And I'm not even trying to

[04:28] wait into the Tucker thing. We've talked

[04:29] about on this show. I'm not afraid to.

[04:30] But what I'm saying is that's just good

[04:32] life advice.

[04:32] >> Well, and two, it really sets your

[04:34] priorities up, right? Because I used to,

[04:36] you know, climbing the career ladder,

[04:38] like I was a political consultant for a

[04:39] really long time. I was running

[04:40] campaigns, doing a lot of quote unquote

[04:42] big things in my world. And then you

[04:44] have kids. You're like, "Okay, well,

[04:46] what I do doesn't actually matter. This

[04:48] is the actual thing that matters." I am

[04:50] thankful and I'm blessed for the career

[04:51] that I have now. And I would push carts

[04:54] at Costco if I needed to to be able to

[04:57] support the only thing that actually

[04:58] matters, which is my kids and my family.

[05:00] And so it it it really puts things in

[05:03] perspective. Obviously you get more

[05:04] productive out of necessity but at the

[05:07] same time you you start understanding

[05:08] okay so none of the tangible goals I had

[05:12] for my life you know buying houses

[05:14] getting moving up the the career

[05:15] [snorts] ladder income ladder

[05:17] >> it doesn't really matter when you

[05:19] actually have the thing that is going to

[05:21] take priority over all of those things

[05:24] and I wish there was a better way to

[05:26] communicate that to young people.
