Rita Panahi Reports From Phoenix as Thousands Prepare to Honor Charlie Kirk at Memorial Service
Rita Panahi traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, to capture the atmosphere ahead of Charlie Kirk's memorial service at a major football stadium. The 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder touched countless lives through his dedication to faith, American values, and empowering young conservatives to speak boldly. Panahi interviewed attendees who traveled from across America, including students and families who shared how Kirk inspired them to defend their beliefs against cancel culture. With the President and Vice President scheduled to speak, the service represents a moment of both mourning and determination to continue Kirk's mission.
A Stadium Full of Supporters Gather to Remember Charlie Kirk
Rita Panahi traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, to report on the remarkable outpouring of support ahead of Charlie Kirk's memorial service. The event is taking place at a major football stadium where the Cardinals play, but this gathering has nothing to do with sports. Instead, thousands are expected to fill the venue to honor a man who spoke about politics and inspired a generation of young conservatives.
Panahi visited Turning Point USA headquarters earlier in the day, where she encountered people from all across America who had traveled to pay their respects to the 31-year-old who had such a significant impact on the conservative movement. The memorial service features speakers including the President, the Vice President, and other senior members of the administration.
Young People Share How Kirk Changed Their Lives
Throughout the day, Panahi spoke with attendees from different backgrounds and families, many of them young people who shared deeply personal stories about what Charlie Kirk meant to them and how he shaped their political views and worldview.
One attendee named Dylan described Kirk as "such a good messenger" who embodied God, family, and doing the right thing. Dylan and his companion had traveled all the way from Georgia to attend the service. They recalled watching a reel where Charlie advised, "Before you get married, take a really long road trip because you will figure out what you don't and don't like about each other."
Another attendee, who had been part of Turning Point USA for six years, credited Kirk with fundamentally shaping who they are today. "Charlie is the reason I am who I am today. I've always been a conservative, but if it wasn't for Turning Point USA and what he built, I would have never had the courage to speak out boldly about my views. He really brought out a side in me that I never even knew I had."
Courage to Stand Against Cancel Culture
This same individual ran the Turning Point USA chapter at Ryder University in New Jersey for two and a half years, inspired by Kirk's example. When asked about the biggest values Charlie espoused, they pointed to his faith and his defense of American values and the U.S. Constitution. "He was not afraid to go against the woke political culture and cancel culture. And I think he gave that courage to everyone that was a part of Turning Point USA and everyone that was a member of their chapter."
Other young attendees noted that Kirk's influence extended beyond the conservative base. "I think that a lot of people who were independent that were in the middle are now getting pushed towards the right now because of what have happened," one person observed. Another shared how Kirk impacted how they speak out at school and among friends, noting, "He's changed my look out on some things and I think it's pretty cool how words can do so much."
A Time of Healing and Determination
One attendee captured the prevailing sentiment: "This is the time of healing. This is a time that we need to get together for a father, a husband or for a young man who just trying to debate fairly to bring truth to the world."
Panahi summarized the atmosphere as a mixture of emotions. "There is a lot of sadness. There's a lot of anger, but also determination to follow in Charlie's footsteps and continue his great work."
The memorial service represents not just a moment to mourn the loss of a young leader taken too soon, but a rallying point for those committed to carrying forward his mission of defending faith, family, and American constitutional values.
