Skyler Baird Witnessed the Charlie Kirk Tragedy and Shares His Powerful Message of Hope

Skyler Baird was there when the unthinkable happened at a Charlie Kirk event in Utah. In this emotional account, he walks through the moments before the tragedy, the traumatic aftermath, and the therapy that helped him process what he witnessed. But Skylar's message goes beyond trauma, he speaks about the danger of hatred, the importance of love, and why evil's attempt to silence Charlie Kirk will only create a million more voices standing up for hope, faith, and truth.

The Moments Before Tragedy

Skyler Baird begins by recalling the positive atmosphere at the event. Charlie Kirk arrived energized and enthusiastic, engaging with the crowd in Utah. People were chanting, excited to see him. Charlie was tossing out hats, clearly proud of the movement he had started and grateful to be there.

The event proceeded normally through the first question. Then came the second question about transgender mass shooters. The questioner asked Charlie how many transgender mass shooters there had been in the last 10 years. Charlie responded, "Too many." The questioner acknowledged this answer and mentioned the number was five.

The follow-up question was about how many mass shooters there had been in the last 10 years. As Charlie began to respond, asking if the questioner was including gang violence, the shot rang out. The moment the word "violence" came out of Charlie's mouth, the gunshot sounded.

Processing Traumatic Images Through Therapy

Skylar immediately recognized the sound as a gunshot. The image that followed became seared into his mind—an image he went to therapy to help process. He emphasizes that anyone who was at that event should seek professional help, as therapy gave him tools to combat the replaying images.

During meditation and therapy, Skylar experienced a powerful vision. In his mind's eye, he photoshopped away the blood, sat Charlie back up, put a smile back on his face, and rewound the tape. He visualized the bullet traveling backward into the rifle, where he placed a flower inside. Continuing to rewind in his mind, he saw the shooter going back down the stairs.

Then he pressed play differently. In this alternative vision, the shooter stops halfway up on the landing, turns around, and doesn't go through with it. Instead, the shooter returns to his car and ends his own life. Only a few people mourn—his parents, his sister, a few close friends. Nobody else really cares or understands, and the event continues normally.

Understanding the Message God Wanted Him to Hear

Skylar believes this vision contained an important message from God. There are many people who don't feel seen or heard. The only thing they have is their ideology or their identity. When that's attacked, they feel like it's an attack on them personally.

What we need to do, Skylar explains, is assist those individuals in knowing that love is real, that God is real, and that they can feel loved again.

A Message About the Cancer of Hatred

When asked what message he hopes people will take away, Skylar delivers a powerful statement. If you feel hatred in your heart, if this moment made you happy in any way, then there's a cancer in your soul. You have succumbed to a great evil.

If celebrating the loss of a husband and father of two little children has made you happy, then you need to seek help. You are broken. You need to find God and find love in your heart again, because the only way any of this stops is to find love and to love others around you.

Skylar clarifies that this doesn't mean validating everything going on in someone's mind. That's not what love is. Love is getting help—true help that can solve deep-rooted issues that would cause someone to find joy in the death of another.

Evil Does Not Understand the Human Heart

When asked how he wants Charlie Kirk to be remembered, Skylar shares a profound insight: the good thing about evil is it does not understand the human heart. Evil thinks that killing Charlie will silence him.

But here's the truth about the human heart—in trying to silence Charlie, evil just created a million more. A million more people are going to rise up and share the same message of hope, divinity, and God. They're going to stand up in the face of evil.

People have been quiet for too long, Skylar says. They allowed the cancellations, the pushback, people being fired because they have conservative ideals. That's not going to happen anymore. Conservatives are going to stand up in a righteous way and continue to be loud and vocal, changing the world for a better place.

A Final Message for Those Struggling

Skylar ends with a message for the thousands of people who attended the event and the millions around the world who saw the footage. Those images don't go away, he warns. Don't allow them to stay with you, to infiltrate your mind and be heavy on you.

Go seek help. Talk to people. These images won't go away by yourself. You need to go to therapy, be with your loved ones. Nothing has helped Skylar more than receiving hugs from strangers, messages from strangers, people coming to his door offering priesthood blessings, and knowing that so many people around him care tremendously.

There are people right now who are alone, struggling with those thoughts and images. You need to reach out and find those people around you too.
