Frank Turek's account, standing roughly 25 feet away, jumping into the SUV, holding Kirk during the drive to the hospital, has become the primary firsthand record most subsequent coverage builds from, cited by friendly and skeptical commentators alike as either confirming or complicating other claims about the day's timeline.

That same category of testimony became a target for scrutiny rather than automatic trust: independent investigators picked apart specific details in Turek's and others' accounts, including whether the timing of a reported embrace between Erika Kirk and Andrew Kolvet at the airport was physically possible given known flight schedules, treating inconsistencies in sincere firsthand recollection as evidence of a cover-up rather than the ordinary imprecision of memory under trauma. Eyewitness testimony as the most direct evidence available, and eyewitness testimony as inherently reconstructable and therefore suspect, both readings run through nearly every competing account of what happened on September 10th.
