[00:00] Folks, let me tell you about my good
[00:01] friend Todd Nettleton from The Voice of
[00:03] the Martyrs. For over two decades, Todd
[00:05] has risked his life to bring attention
[00:07] to the persecution of Christians around
[00:09] the world. Now, he's written a powerful
[00:11] book called Faith is Forbidden detailing
[00:14] his travels and experiences. As a
[00:16] special gift to my listeners, you can
[00:18] get a free copy of this incredible book
[00:21] by simply clicking the link in the
[00:22] description below or call 844-4643043.
[00:29] Joining us now is a very good friend of
[00:31] mine, by the way. We're here live at the
[00:32] Bitcoin.com studio. That's bitcoin.com.
[00:34] Is a great friend, Alex Marlo. He's
[00:36] terrific. We got to have Alex on more.
[00:37] He's just terrific. And Salem radio uh
[00:40] network and amongst many other things.
[00:42] What was your reaction to my
[00:44] conversation with Bill Maher? I thought
[00:45] it was very friendly. Uh it was very
[00:48] cordial and in some ways very hopeful.
[00:51] Alex, your thoughts? Um so my reaction
[00:54] is very positive. I'm glad you're doing
[00:55] it. I'm glad he's doing this. So, in
[00:57] general, I'm in the camp that Mars
[01:00] stick, he's got a couple sticks, but one
[01:01] of them is he's saying all the stuff
[01:03] that folks like you and me and Steve and
[01:06] and all all Donald Trump were saying 8
[01:08] 10 years ago and people are talking
[01:10] about him like he's a genius for saying
[01:12] them. And I do find that a little
[01:13] irritating and frustrating. But he does
[01:15] have one other other stick that I love,
[01:18] which is he literally is the only person
[01:20] who's talking to all people of every
[01:22] political angle. I know you would talk
[01:24] to them, Charlie. I know I would talk to
[01:26] them on my show, but they don't tend to
[01:28] show up. For whatever reason, he's
[01:29] figured out a way to get all these
[01:31] people to show up and talk to him of all
[01:32] these different viewpoints and it is a
[01:34] terrific product that he puts out
[01:36] because of that. And it's not that he's
[01:38] so amazing, even though he's of course
[01:40] got some skills, uh, but his ability to
[01:42] bring people in is a skill in and of
[01:44] itself. And you've absolutely got to
[01:46] hand it to him for that. and it makes it
[01:47] so that you're able to get deeper on
[01:49] conversations and topics that you're
[01:51] just not going to be able to do in a
[01:53] two-minute soundbite or people talking
[01:54] past each other on social media. So, uh
[01:57] I'm glad you're doing it and I'm glad
[01:59] that uh this could be hopefully open up
[02:02] some doors for some people. Let's just
[02:03] play one piece of tape here and then I
[02:05] want to get into some of the news of the
[02:06] day. Uh because we did talk a lot about
[02:08] Garcia. That was a big portion of my
[02:10] conversation uh with Bill
[02:13] Maher. Let's play a little funny one.
[02:16] Let's play cut 123.
[02:19] Drink. No, I'm good. Thank you. You
[02:20] don't drink? No. Or smoke pot? No. And
[02:24] you're married and super Christian.
[02:25] We're going to get along great. You
[02:26] know, we're This is This is going to
[02:28] just be perfect. And we did get along
[02:30] great. It's It's a good example of how
[02:33] we can heal the country. Yeah, it is.
[02:36] And I do like that you guys got along. I
[02:37] think it's a good thing because for me,
[02:39] I I'm an information guy and I am
[02:42] ideologically conservative. I'm a
[02:44] Catholic. I'm a Christian. It's the I've
[02:46] been a Republican for my whole life,
[02:48] even though that's been hard sometimes.
[02:49] Uh, but I will tell you, Charlie, what
[02:51] what animates me more as a news person
[02:53] is what's next, what's coming down the
[02:55] pike, what's exciting, what interesting
[02:58] conversations are being had. And so, I
[03:00] want more of that. I don't need
[03:02] agreement. This world will be incredibly
[03:03] uninteresting if people only agreed. So,
[03:05] if there's a new uh willingness to talk
[03:10] amongst people who do not have your same
[03:13] viewpoint or lifestyle, uh you have
[03:15] children, he's twice your age and has no
[03:17] children. I mean, there's so many
[03:18] differences, but it does make for an
[03:19] interesting conversation. I'm just sad
[03:21] to see it's so infrequent. It really is
[03:23] still too infrequent. This is
[03:24] unfortunately the exception and not the
[03:25] rule. But let's make it the rule. Let's
[03:27] make it the rule that we actually start
[03:28] talking. So, so Alex, now transitioning
[03:31] to Mr. Abrego
[03:33] Garcia, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, your
[03:36] favorite Maryland resident,
[03:38] the Maryland dad, the the Maryland man,
[03:40] the upstanding citizen. Where does this
[03:42] whole situation stand and what is your
[03:44] analysis of it? Um, so what's
[03:47] interesting about this case is that I
[03:49] think both sides, it's a rorchack test.
[03:51] Both sides think they're going to win
[03:52] this thing. Um, we see it as these
[03:54] people are lunatics. They are all in for
[03:58] MS-13, meaning the Democrats. They're
[04:00] going down there with the have
[04:02] margaritas with MS-13 members. It's a
[04:04] this case where he's got all these
[04:06] people in the car with him and no one's
[04:08] got any luggage and he's clearly
[04:10] involved in human smuggling that appears
[04:12] to be adding to his resume. Makes you
[04:16] feel as though that how could the
[04:18] Democrats possibly get the upper hand on
[04:20] this? But that's not really the game
[04:22] they're playing. The game they're
[04:22] playing is they're trying to trip up
[04:24] Donald Trump and Steven Miller and the
[04:25] people who are setting policy for the
[04:28] White House and trying to get them to
[04:30] cross one of these judges to have some
[04:31] sort of a constitutional crisis to
[04:33] create a narrative that will allow for
[04:35] them to win in the midterms and then
[04:36] start the impeachments. And Trump's
[04:38] presidency is going to be completely
[04:40] curtailed by the left-wing hysteria and
[04:43] legal activism and lawfare. That's the
[04:45] game they're playing. They're not really
[04:46] living for just this news cycle. They're
[04:48] trying to lay out a strategy that will
[04:50] eventually lead to an impeachment for
[04:51] Donald Trump. So, let's not get too
[04:53] cocky. I know they look insane defending
[04:54] MS-13 today, but we got to be pretty
[04:56] vigilant here because if Trump makes one
[04:59] false move here, they're trying to come
[05:01] up with a strategy that leads to his, if
[05:03] not outright removal, at least waste all
[05:04] his time. Yeah. And so, I think that's
[05:07] right. I think that's really appropriate
[05:09] prudence. What do you make of the
[05:12] calamity in the judicial branch? There
[05:14] is a school of thought that says look
[05:16] the Trump administration just fill out
[05:17] the forms request him back in quotes
[05:21] bouquet will say no that'll satisfy the
[05:24] courts and this issue will largely be
[05:26] put to rest. It keeps on living because
[05:28] of the numerous court interventions
[05:31] around this case. Yeah, it's a great
[05:34] question because I'm generally a don't
[05:36] give an inch guy, but I do feel like I
[05:38] would kind of love to see them bring him
[05:40] back and then just deport him again
[05:41] because they they would and they could.
[05:43] Miller said as much and he could be
[05:45] deported for any reason. So, I don't
[05:47] know. May maybe this morning I'm leaning
[05:48] towards towards do that, but in general
[05:51] until you just brought it up just now.
[05:53] Uh I do like the don't give an inch
[05:55] approach that who cares about these
[05:57] people, who cares about the leftwing
[05:58] media, there was nothing wrong that was
[06:00] done in terms of the law, but the left
[06:02] thinks there's some sort of a a hold
[06:03] order that Trump is violating here. And
[06:06] Trump has not crossed one of these
[06:07] lawfare judges yet. He's not done
[06:09] anything illegal. He does not. And I
[06:11] think that's a really wise strategy for
[06:14] now. But it's also, Charlie, what we're
[06:16] seeing is not sustainable. They can't
[06:17] have
[06:19] 675 presidents of the United States who
[06:22] are doubling as district court judges
[06:24] who have a veto over everything Donald
[06:26] Trump does. Let's play a piece of tape
[06:28] here uh from Yeah. Let's play cut 97,
[06:32] please. Who did pay for this trip? Uh
[06:35] this was an officially cleared, you
[06:38] know, congressional trip. clear bases.
[06:41] Yes, like every other trip. And then
[06:44] let's put 172 up on screen. This shows
[06:47] that again, apparently this is how gang
[06:48] tattoos work. Uh an MS-13
[06:53] style tattoo right on his
[06:56] hands. And and so Alex, your message is
[06:59] caution here. Understand the bigger
[07:02] picture. Yeah. I just feel like this is
[07:04] one where in the short term we've got
[07:06] the we got to emphasize the Democrats
[07:08] are cornered here defending all of MS-13
[07:10] and they're of course defending illegal
[07:12] alien gang members over American
[07:14] citizens continuing Trump continuing to
[07:15] have the angel bombs out there make them
[07:18] surrogates in this regard I think is
[07:19] really important and it's a great move
[07:21] but just know that the main goal they're
[07:23] not dumb they're they're foolish
[07:24] sometimes but they're not dumb on the
[07:26] left and they're trying to get Trump
[07:28] administration to violate some sort of
[07:30] directive from a court that could lead
[07:32] toward towards political mo momentum
[07:34] towards impeachment. And so just keep
[07:35] that in mind that they're not doing this
[07:37] without a endgame in mind. They are I
[07:39] think we can beat them at this. I think
[07:41] we are beating them, but let's just not
[07:43] not be too uh overzealous. So I want to
[07:45] play a piece of tape here and get your
[07:47] analysis, Alex, which it's easy to
[07:52] dismiss this David Hog, you know,
[07:55] infighting with Hakee Jeff, not just
[07:57] Hakeem Jeff, as rabble rousing. And of
[08:00] course, I I did a hit with Will Kaine on
[08:02] Fox News. I said, "Look, it's probably a
[08:04] breakdown of fiduciary duty." But
[08:06] understand, was our party made stronger
[08:08] because of some of the primary
[08:09] challenges we did the last decade? You
[08:11] see, Democrats, they have gone, they've
[08:13] come into a mentality the last couple
[08:14] years, no primaries, doesn't matter if
[08:16] it's no matter who, vote blue. Let's
[08:18] play cut 106 and then I want your take
[08:21] on is the Democrat party trying to get
[08:24] more based. Play cut 106.
[08:28] David Hog who I know you know um a vice
[08:31] chair of the the Democratic National
[08:33] Committee. He's going to be joining us
[08:34] on the round table and he is uh pursuing
[08:37] this effort uh to unseat some Democrats
[08:40] in safe seats through primary
[08:42] challenges. Well, I look forward to
[08:43] standing behind every single Democratic
[08:46] incumbent from the most progressive to
[08:47] the most centrist and all points in
[08:50] between.
[08:53] Alex, your thoughts? Yeah, it's really
[08:56] compelling because we in the Republican
[08:58] party benefited greatly from a civil war
[08:59] that took place and the history is just
[09:01] just really important here because
[09:03] remember when Mitt Romney lost. I think
[09:05] he spent like $3 billion on that
[09:07] campaign and we thought he had a good
[09:09] chance. Uh remember Charlie, he
[09:11] basically took a walk on the last debate
[09:12] with Obama because he thought he won. He
[09:14] just agreed with Obama on everything in
[09:15] the last debate and then he got his
[09:17] clock cleaned and we were all sitting
[09:18] around thinking what do we got to do?
[09:20] And the Republican establishment told us
[09:21] we need to embrace amnesty. Amnesty for
[09:24] illegal aliens. that's what it was going
[09:25] to take for us to win elections. And a
[09:27] lot of us, myself included, said, "We're
[09:29] not going to do that." And that's where
[09:31] places like Breitbart and it led to the
[09:32] rise of Trump started saying, "We are
[09:34] going to crack down on this stuff. We're
[09:36] going the complete opposite direction
[09:38] and we don't care if a civil war breaks
[09:40] out because this is a hill to die on."
[09:42] And it worked out incredibly. I mean, if
[09:44] you had told me that after the 2012
[09:46] autopsy that we'd have Donald Trump in
[09:48] four years and then Donald Trump again
[09:49] four years after that, I mean, or eight
[09:51] years after that. I mean, it's a you
[09:53] wouldn't believe it, but it worked out
[09:54] for us. Now, the problem is who would
[09:56] win a civil war with the Democrats? It'd
[09:58] probably be the insane people because
[10:00] they've got the most energy. They
[10:01] inspire the donors. So, you'd get this
[10:03] sort of dark woke is the is what they're
[10:06] talking about where they're really
[10:07] leaning into the woke stuff. Even though
[10:09] we think woke is over, Charlie, they
[10:11] don't all feel that way. So, if they
[10:13] have a civil war, I think it might
[10:15] actually hurt them. But you know what?
[10:18] if they want to try it, they might need
[10:19] to because their leadership is so lame
[10:21] and weak right now.
[10:24] And so there's something of note here
[10:26] that we don't want to ignore. I was just
[10:28] in Boise, Idaho, and we drew a big
[10:30] crowd. I mean, you know, to go debate a
[10:32] bunch of college kids to draw 3,000
[10:34] people. That's big. However, you have to
[10:36] be honest. You got to tell it like it
[10:37] is. The night before Bernie and AOC,
[10:40] they drew 12,000 people in Boise. It's a
[10:42] big number. Now, I understand that area,
[10:44] that part of the world doesn't get a lot
[10:46] of attention. It's kind of like what
[10:47] happens when we go to California. When
[10:49] you're so in the ideological minority,
[10:51] you tend to draw out anyone that's
[10:52] like-minded because there really is
[10:54] nothing of the sort. But 12,000 people
[10:56] in Boise is real. They were drawing big
[10:58] crowds all across the West. What do you
[11:00] make about the AOC of the AOC Bernie
[11:04] combination? Is this a robust
[11:07] grassroots populist counter to MAGA or
[11:11] is it basically the Democrats continuing
[11:14] on their ultra radical policies and
[11:15] something that we should encourage more
[11:17] of happening? Well, uh Bernie's a total
[11:19] fraud. Uh he wouldn't even support the
[11:21] Democrats that he got along with uh when
[11:23] Trump put them up for confirmation,
[11:24] which is another genius move by Trump.
[11:26] Not only did he pick the best people for
[11:27] his cabinet, but he picked Democrats
[11:29] specifically to expose the senators who
[11:31] act like they're anti-establishment, but
[11:33] they're pure establishment. Bernie's
[11:35] always been that way. He's got a bunch
[11:36] of houses. He's a rich guy, and then he
[11:37] acts like he's a socialist. Um, but
[11:39] there is an astroturf here, which might
[11:41] comfort the audience a little bit, which
[11:42] is a lot of them are trying to piggyback
[11:44] off of musical acts. So, they'll get the
[11:46] musicians out who people want to see,
[11:48] and then they'll tack on a AOC or Bernie
[11:50] Sanders speech. So, I I don't really buy
[11:52] the 12,000 number, but that said, we
[11:55] should go to the woodshed and act as
[11:57] though they're building a robust
[11:58] grassroots resistance that isn't just
[12:00] Soros funded stuff like a lot of the
[12:02] Tesla stuff. And a lot of our reporting
[12:06] um this group Indivisible that's
[12:07] veryworked or the new Arabella advisers
[12:09] where they're just funding everything.
[12:11] Uh we got to act like they're going to
[12:12] get organized and they're going to come
[12:14] back and they're going to mount to come
[12:15] back. We got to act like we're in a war
[12:16] footing. We're not in peace time yet.
[12:18] We're in war time. We should behave that
[12:20] way. But if you want a comfort, I don't
[12:21] think the 12,000 number is legit,
[12:23] Charlie. Your 3000 number is legit and
[12:25] very impressive. I'm loving the college
[12:27] stuff. Absolutely incredible content and
[12:29] good for you for doing it. Thank you. In
[12:30] fact, we're doing more campus tour stops
[12:32] this semester than even during the
[12:34] election. It it we are in a 247 365
[12:38] mentality. Elections are merely just
[12:41] moments in a broader cultural conflict.
[12:43] Alex, you're the best. Plug whatever you
[12:45] want to our audience. Uh Alex Marlo show
[12:47] the Salem Podcast Network. So that's the
[12:49] wherever you get your podcast and
[12:51] leaving a nice review is always good as
[12:53] well. But uh anytime you need me,
[12:54] Charlie, I'm here for you. Thanks, Alex,
[12:56] so much. Really appreciate it.
