To my fellow Jews around the world and
lovers of Israel and the Bible, I've got
an urgent message for you. As we're
about to approach Shabbat, the Sabbath,
and in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's
assassination just a few days ago, I
want to share with you the last text I
received from him literally just a few
weeks ago. Not going to get into the
details of the conversation, but he
said, "Thanks, man. Let me think about
it. Shabbat shalom."
Not many people know this about Charlie
Kirk, but he actually kept the Sabbath
in his own way. And when I say the
Sabbath, I mean Shabbat, the Jewish
Sabbath on Saturdays as it originally
was and we believe always is from Friday
night uh sundown until Saturday night.
Actually, I learned until Sunday morning
in his case, he had his phone off,
technology off, and was focused on
observing observing the Sabbath, which
he believed to be a divine commandment.
and spending time with his family and
loved ones and focusing on himself, how
he can connect to God, think about his
own life, his mission, and just connect
to those around him. And I learned also
recently that he was planning a new book
which he actually dedicated to Dennis
Prager all about the Sabbath called Stop
in the Name of God. Why honoring the
Sabbath will transform your life. So my
message is simply this.
Why don't we all observe the Sabbath? If
you don't already keep Shabbat, observe
Shabbat in the honor not just of
Charlie, but in the in the name of God,
in the name of goodness, in the name of
honoring his legacy and and doing
something positive in the aftermath of
this terrible, dark tragedy. If you
don't already, consider doing it in your
own way. There's many different laws of
dos and don'ts. Consider how much you're
able to to do. And in whichever way you
can, I'd really encourage you and urge
you to honor Shabbat in the way that I
am. So, I am also switching off now. And
uh I hope you will join me in this.
Let's honor Shabbat, God's day of rest,
and I'll see you on the other side.
