Erika Kirk No-Shows Vice President J.D. Vance Event at University of Georgia Amid Abysmal Ticket Sales
Erika Kirk failed to appear alongside Vice President J.D. Vance at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia, with organizers citing security threats. However, evidence suggests the real reason was poor ticket sales. The Akins Ford Arena, which holds 7,000 people, was less than 25% filled despite being open to both students and the general public. Kirk had also canceled a high school appearance the day before, citing "scheduling complications" rather than security concerns. Parents and students are organizing boycotts against her appearances, and insiders report this represents the worst turnout in Turning Point USA history under her leadership.
The Last-Minute Cancellation That Shocked Event Planners
Erika Kirk was scheduled to appear alongside Vice President J.D. Vance at the University of Georgia, but she completely no-showed the event. This was not a casual cancellation—this was the sitting Vice President of the United States. It is disrespectful outside of a real emergency, with emphasis on the word real.
Andrew Kolvet went on stage at the last minute to inform and surprise even the event planners with a message about why Kirk was not present. He addressed the audience, explaining that he was on stage instead of their friend Erika Kirk because she had received some very serious threats. He characterized this as a terrible reflection on the state of reality and the state of the country, and underscored that she has received a lot of attacks from surprising places.
The Implication of Public Blame
The messaging seemed to imply that the public was at fault for Kirk's absence. To further substantiate the matter, The DailyWire+ provided additional details about the situation. According to their report, a TPUSA official stated that their security had been monitoring the situation in the days leading up to the event. People were doxxing her travel location and trying to track her arrival and departure, with multiple direct threats against Erika specifically.
This ultimately led to her security's assessment that they could not guarantee her safety. The event venue itself was fine, especially once the VP was on site, but it was the travel portion that was the chief concern. The official told The DailyWire+ that her children are one parent away from being orphans, and so they take the security assessments and advice seriously.
Questions About the Security Explanation
However, several questions arise about this explanation. Her events are listed publicly, and people register for tickets to attend these free events. If you are a public figure that goes on a tour, you have to say where you are going. You are doxxing yourself. But if someone is tracking your plane, what is the concern there that could not be alleviated? Why couldn't somebody be on the ground waiting at the private terminal to ensure safety? This woman does not fly publicly.
Every time they mention the kids, it seems they are using every tool available. The real question is: what actually happened?
The Reality of Ticket Sales at University of Georgia
There are over 43,000 students enrolled at the University of Georgia. The event was scheduled to take place at the Akins Ford Arena at the Classic Center, which is near the University of Georgia. The stadium holds just 7,000 people. Organizers were hoping that with an announcement that the Vice President of the United States was going to be attending, it was a guarantee that they would be able to attract something like 15% of the student body.
To make matters easier for them, they also opened the free tickets to the general public. They did not need to get 15% of the student body to sign up—they just needed generally 7,000 people in the area that wanted to support MAGA or Erika Kirk.
The reality? Nobody wanted to attend. The ticket numbers were abysmal. That is what happened, and that is what has been happening. In the last hour, they decided to cancel her appearance.
Evidence of Poor Attendance
Reporter Jake Trailor with MS Now tweeted about the event with an accompanying clip showing the auditorium. He wrote: "Turning Point USA seems to have misestimated crowd size for Vance. The Akins Ford Arena less than 25% filled for the Vice President."
In fact, the turnout was so bad that Fox News showed footage from old Turning Point events rather than the actual venue. They spliced together three separate events so that they could show something of substance when Andrew spoke. This is humiliating, especially as he was pitching a story about why they could not do it because it was the public's fault for not keeping Erika safe.
A Pattern of Poor Turnout
Turning Point USA college students and volunteers report that this has been a repeat problem. They similarly had a very hard time moving tickets for her event in Washington, D.C. with Karoline Leavitt. They could not hit capacity despite effectively opening these events to general admission—anybody in the public willing to come listen to Erika Kirk speak for free.
The event at University of Georgia appears to be the worst audience turnout in Turning Point's history. Under Erika Kirk's stewardship, Turning Point USA is now facing a crisis. Similarly, they had to move the Believers Summit, something that they advertised for last year and was slated to take place back in October, but they could not move any free tickets.
The Timeline of Kirk's Cancellation
Erika knew that she was not coming long before Andrew Kolvet made the announcement on stage. Yet she did not make a statement herself until after the event began. She retweeted a clip from the event and wrote: "I was so looking forward to tonight's event at the University of Georgia with our vice president, but after all our family has been through, I take my security team's recommendations extremely seriously. Thank you to our amazing Georgia chapter for your support. God bless you all."
The constant messaging is not honest. She moves things off of her calendar and will make it work when she needs to be somewhere. She was at Mar-a-Lago at a bridal shower for Bettina, who is marrying Don Trump Jr. Erika will be wherever it is that she needs to be. That is not the reason she chose not to show up.
Why the Security Story Doesn't Add Up
How do we know this was not some last-minute cancellation related to a threat? First, common sense. The last thing you do is announce a threat on stage when one is happening. In fact, at Turning Point USA events in the past, when there have been real threats—such as when someone who escaped a mental institution posed a danger at an event in Nashville—nobody went out and announced it publicly or blamed everybody for the threat.
That is so performative and outlandish that it instantly fails the credibility test. But another way to confirm this story is not real is because Erika was also slated to speak at 1:30 p.m. in Georgia at a local high school. But she canceled that event, and she did not cancel it last second. She canceled it the day before on Monday.
The High School Cancellation That Reveals the Truth
On Tuesday, she had a 1:30 event and then an evening event with J.D. Vance. But on Monday at noon, she had already informed the high school that she was not going to be in attendance—a full day before her last-minute on-stage cancellation of her event with J.D. that the students did not even know about.
She honored the high school students with information but did not honor the college students with any information, making them look like fools. They emailed and texted and informed the parents at school that her appearance had been canceled, and they gave a reason—and that reason was not security.
The text that went out canceling the high school event, which was set up on March 30th, read: "Parent alert, due to scheduling complications, the optional Turning Point USA high school event scheduled for tomorrow, September 14th, has been canceled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and are hopeful for other Turning Point USA opportunities in the future."
A scheduling conflict. A scheduling conflict, not a threat, but a scheduling conflict. If there were a viable threat, wouldn't it have been prudent to inform the administration of a high school? Even if it was an airplane-related threat, you would tell the high school that there is a very viable threat and you do not want to bring this to them. They were not informed of that. They were just told it was a scheduling issue.
Parents and Students Organizing Against Kirk
The truth is that there was immediate parental backlash that kept happening because she was announced for the high school event. It became clear there was going to be abysmal attendance—nothing that they could record on social media to make it look like she has got the crowd going. So it was nothing for her to look forward to, and she skipped it.
This keeps happening. Parents and students are organizing against her for a variety of reasons. They do not trust her and do not believe her. Further proof can be found in a parental chat on Facebook currently going on regarding another event she has coming up at a high school in Phoenix—right in her backyard at Pinnacle High School.
The parents are organizing. One parent posted: "I am very concerned learning that Erika Kirk is going to be speaking." An anonymous member who identified as a teacher wrote below: "As a teacher, I find this highly inappropriate and a safety risk to our students and staff. Also as a teacher, I know the district may care more about attendance more than anything else. So call your kids out of school and that will send a message."
They are organizing essentially a walkout, a boycott of Erika Kirk, with 36 likes on the comment.
Narcissistic Messaging That Blames the Public
The reason for laying this out now is because what is so enraging about the messaging set up by Andrew Kolvet is that it is akin to narcissistic abuse. They can never admit that they have failed or that they have done anything wrong. So what do they do? They tell the public that it is their fault. If this would not happen if people would just stop criticizing her. That is completely unacceptable.
People cancel events last minute for a variety of reasons. Management comes out and makes an excuse. But when do you ever recall management coming out with messaging that implies that actually it is the public's fault? That the public failed to keep this person safe? That is exactly what the messaging was, and people should be infuriated about it.
People track planes all the time. Elon Musk famously took his plane tracking information off of platforms. Taylor Swift has her plane tracked. There is no remedy for that situation. The messaging was poor. There is never an adult in the room that will just come out and say, as a leader would: "You know what? Ticket attendance was not great. We want to remedy that in the future. We want to figure out what changes we can make so that we can establish Erika as the new leader of Turning Point USA. People are still getting to know her."
That is responsible messaging. But instead, the message is: it is your fault.
