Judge Jeanine Pirro Recounts Being Thrown Off The View Set After Heated Exchange With Whoopi Goldberg

Judge Jeanine Pirro shares the full story of what happened during her appearance on The View to promote her book "Liars, Leakers, and Liberals." What started as a calm conversation quickly escalated into a heated confrontation with Whoopi Goldberg that ended with Pirro being escorted out of the building. Pirro describes the moment Goldberg unplugged her microphone, stormed off set, and confronted her at the bottom of the stairs with profanity-laced demands to leave. The incident highlights the growing divide in American discourse and the difficulty of having conversations across political differences.

The Invitation to The View

Judge Jeanine Pirro accepted an invitation to appear on The View to promote her new book "Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy." When her publisher asked if she wanted to go on the show, Pirro didn't hesitate. She had no reservations about appearing, noting that she liked Whoopi Goldberg and the other hosts, and felt confident discussing her book with audiences of different viewpoints.

The appearance seemed like a standard book promotion opportunity. Pirro was looking forward to reaching The View's audience and having a meaningful conversation about the topics covered in her book, which examines corruption at the highest levels of the Department of Justice and the FBI.

The First Segment Stays Civil

The interview began relatively calmly during the first segment. Pirro recalls saying something that would prove almost prescient: "One of the things we need now, we need people to talk to people who hate each other. It's time we sat down and had a conversation." Goldberg responded positively, saying she was glad to hear that sentiment.

After some small talk following the first segment, Pirro felt good about how things were going. The conversation had been civil, and there seemed to be an opportunity for productive dialogue. However, that atmosphere would change dramatically when they returned from the commercial break.

The Confrontation Erupts

The second segment took a sharp turn. The conversation became heated, with both Pirro and the hosts getting angry. At one point during the exchange, Goldberg said, "I'm 62 years old, there's been a lot of people in office that I didn't agree with, but I have never ever seen anything like this. I've never seen anybody whip up such hate. I've never seen anybody be so deranged."

Pirro attempted to respond, saying "Let me tell you what I have—" but was cut off mid-sentence. The situation escalated quickly from there, with the conversation becoming increasingly contentious.

What The Cameras Didn't Show

What television viewers didn't see was even more dramatic than what aired. According to Pirro, as the segment ended, Goldberg pushed Pirro's book off the desk, unplugged her own microphone, and stormed off the set. Left sitting there, Pirro, drawing on her television experience, remarked to the remaining hosts that she didn't think the segment was over yet, but acknowledged that Goldberg had clearly left.

Pirro removed her own microphone and prepared to leave the set, having to descend a set of stairs to exit. What happened next would prove even more shocking than the on-air confrontation.

The Confrontation Continues Off Camera

As Pirro reached the bottom of the stairs, Goldberg was waiting there. Pirro tried to explain herself, saying something like, "Whoopi, you know I spent my whole life fighting for victims," referencing an earlier discussion about sexual assault. But Goldberg wasn't interested in continuing the conversation.

Instead, according to Pirro, Goldberg got in her face and said, "F you, f you." When Pirro asked if she had really just said that, Goldberg continued: "Get the f out of this building. Get the f out of this building." The confrontation left Pirro stunned. As she put it, "I've been a prosecutor, judge, DEA for thirty years. I tried murder cases. I can go toe-to-toe with anybody, but that was abuse and it was sad."

Pirro insisted she did nothing to provoke the confrontation, and said the people who were with her could verify her account of what happened.

The Aftermath and Response

Following the incident, Goldberg apologized to the studio audience, but according to Pirro, she did not reach out to apologize directly to her. A producer from the show did call, but Pirro said she was so busy with non-stop radio and television appearances promoting her book that she hadn't had a chance to return the call yet.

When asked what she would say to Goldberg if she could speak directly to her, Pirro took a conciliatory tone: "I guess I would say to Whoopi, you know, I've always liked you, and I don't understand where the anger comes from. I want to have a conversation and I wasn't allowed to have a conversation and I didn't deserve to be thrown out. Really, we can't treat people like that. You just can't. We can disagree, but we need to be able to talk about it."

A Broader Message About American Discourse

Pirro expressed disappointment not just with how she was personally treated, but with what the incident represents for American discourse. She emphasized that when you invite someone as a guest, you owe them common courtesy. Book tours are demanding, requiring authors to go from place to place, making choices about which shows to appear on and trying to speak to different audiences.

She noted that in her own show, she has never thrown anyone off set, believing that guests deserve respect regardless of disagreements. "America is better than this," Pirro said. "America is the place where you have free speech, but what happened yesterday was a microcosm of what's happening—they shut down. They shut you down. We don't want to hear from you."

About the Book

The book at the center of the controversy, "Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy," examines what Pirro describes as corruption at the highest levels of the Department of Justice and the FBI. She emphasizes that the book contains hundreds of footnotes supporting her claims and is written as an accessible, easy read despite the extensive documentation.

During her View appearance, Pirro had hoped to discuss some of the good things President Trump had done and the problems outlined in her book. She saw the appearance as an opportunity to reach a different audience and present her case in a forum where not everyone would necessarily agree with her perspective. Instead, the appearance became a flashpoint in the ongoing cultural and political divisions in America.
