Minnesota Prosecutor Targets ICE Agent While Ignoring Violent Crimes
A Hennepin County district attorney in Minnesota, widely criticized as one of America's most problematic prosecutors, has charged a federal ICE agent accused of pointing his gun at two people who cut him off on a Minneapolis highway two months ago. When asked if Hennepin County is prepared to go head-to-head with the federal government, the attorney responded defiantly: "We absolutely are. And I should say, we were able to charge the case because we don't have those obstacles. We expect that once Mr. Morgan is in custody and we start the process. We are investigating the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and the shooting of another man. I do expect other charges at some point here."
Selective Prosecution Raises Serious Questions
The decision to aggressively pursue the ICE agent stands in stark contrast to the prosecutor's handling of other cases. She opted not to file charges against a state employee who admitted to keying six Teslas, causing approximately $21,000 in damages. She also has yet to charge the anti-ICE mob accused of attacking Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez. The outrage over her selective prosecution has been building for months. The left-leaning Minnesota Star Tribune called her an embarrassment to Minnesota.
A Pattern of Dangerous Leniency
Critics describe this prosecutor as probably one of the worst legal actors in the country, and that assessment appears well-founded based on her track record. In one particularly disturbing case, a Somali national was accused of rape - not just one but two rapes. He pled guilty to the rapes after meeting one victim online and being accused of raping a 15-year-old. He went to court and pled guilty, but the prosecutor didn't give him jail time. He got out without consequences, and allegedly while on probation, he met another woman on social media, held her in a hotel for six days, and proceeded to assault her. The federal government eventually stepped in, with Attorney General Pam Bondi bringing federal charges against him. But this district attorney was the one who let him out in the first place.
The contrast is stark and inexcusable. If you are an ICE agent defending the country and protecting young girls, she will come for you and keep you from doing your job. Young women have been hurt, allegedly because of decisions she has made. Calls for her impeachment are growing louder.
A Record of Incompetence and Politicization
The prosecutor has served in her position since 2023, but the level of destruction she has caused in just a couple of years is remarkable. In one case involving two teenagers charged in a contract killing, she offered them plea deals of juvenile detention and probation for just a year and a half. This triggered the state Attorney General to take the case away from her, citing her incompetence.
As one legal analyst noted, the constellation of the criminal justice system has a position and space for everyone. There is a defendant's advocate in the way of a defense attorney in the big machine. Everyone has their role. But when the prosecutor takes on the role of defense advocate, who speaks up for the victim? Who speaks for the state?
Her lack of prosecution and offering of lenient plea deals to criminals stands in stark contrast to any time there is someone in uniform. She charged a state trooper with second-degree murder during a traffic stop, though the charges were later dropped due to evidentiary concerns. Her record reads like a flip-flop when examining her history. She even instructed her staff to include race in all plea negotiations and plea decisions, after which the Department of Justice started a civil rights investigation.
The Politicization of Justice
Americans have witnessed the increasing politicization of the judicial system over the last six years. It's a slippery slope when prosecutors pick and choose who they want to prosecute based on political pressure because they are appointed officials. These prosecutors have tremendous power and responsibility, but there's no accountability. Where is the accountability when they don't get it right, when they repeatedly show a history of politicizing their appointment?
This prosecutor has been investigated, had cases taken away, received rebukes, and been called an embarrassment by the Minnesota Star Tribune, yet somehow still enjoys her position. Many are calling for her impeachment and hoping for the installation of more judicious prosecutors who will actually protect victims and prosecute criminals rather than serve as activists.
The Devastating Impact on Minneapolis
The consequences of this prosecutorial approach are visible throughout Minneapolis. The city used to be a beautiful place to visit, but now you cannot safely go to downtown Minneapolis. What people don't realize is that prosecutors who don't enforce laws cause exactly this kind of deterioration. That's why living conditions decline. That's why you can't go to downtown Minneapolis and have dinner - because that's what happens when prosecutors refuse to enforce laws.
When prosecutors pick and choose based on how they feel politically, the system breaks down. Making prosecutions based on political preferences rather than the law itself creates a lawless society. A lawless society is one that does not follow the black letter of the law, and that's exactly what's happening in Minneapolis. No one wants to go there anymore. No one wants to live in downtown Minneapolis.
Political Control Over Public Safety
Minnesota is a magnificent state, but the politics have evolved in such a way that politicians have gained excessive control. During the anti-ICE protests themselves, local authorities wouldn't allow local police to help when they knew ICE needed assistance to keep the peace for citizens. People couldn't even get to work because protesters were blocking homes and roadways in the middle of the street. It's unbelievable, and the people of Minnesota deserve better. They deserve to have the great lives they used to have.
The fundamental question remains: where is the accountability for prosecutors and judges? It's in their best interest to stay politically aligned with their decisions because even if their cases get thrown out down the road, they can claim they tried. There is no accountability for the people who are supposed to hold others accountable. It's very dangerous to have leaders and people in positions of power who operate without meaningful oversight or consequences for their actions.

[01:02] OPTED NOT TO FILE CHARGES
[01:02] AGAINST THIS MAN, A STATE
[01:03] EMPLOYEE WHO ADMITTED TO KEYING
[01:04] SIX TESLA'S, WHICH CAUSED ABOUT

[01:13] ANTI-I.C.E. MOB ACCUSED OF
[01:14] ATTACKING TURNING POINT USA
[01:15] REPORTER SAVANAH HERNANDEZ AT
[01:17] A -- THE OUTRAGE HAS BEEN
[01:21] BUILDING FOR A MINUTES.
[01:23] LAST YEAR, THE LEFT-LEANING
[01:25] MINNESOTA "STAR TRIBUNE" CALLED
[01:26] HER AN EMBARRASSMENT FROM
[01:27] MINNESOTA.
[01:31] >> THIS WOMAN IS PROBABLY ONE OF
[01:35] THE WORST LEGAL ACTORS ON THE
[01:35] SCENE WHERE THE COUNTRY.
[01:36] I'M NOT OVERSTATING THAT.
[01:38] WE TALKED ABOUT THE PUNK, THAT'S
[01:40] WHAT I'M GOING TO CALL HIM, THE
[01:42] EMPLOYEE WHO ALLEGEDLY ENGAGED
[01:45] IN DAMAGE OF THOSE VEHICLES.
[01:46] WE HAVE NOT TALKED ABOUT IS
[01:46] THIS, THERE WAS A SOMALI
[01:47] NATIONAL IN MINNESOTA.
[01:50] THIS SOMALI NATIONAL WAS ACCUSED
[01:56] OF RAPE.
[01:57] NOT JUST ONE BUT TWO RAPES.
[01:59] HE PLED GUILTY TO THE RAPES.
[02:01] HE MET ONE ONLINE AND ANOTHER
[02:03] 15-YEAR-OLD IS THE PERSON HE'S
[02:07] ACCUSED OF RAPE.
[02:07] HE GOES TO THE COURT AND PLEADS
[02:08] GUILTY AND SHE DOESN'T GIVE HIM
[02:09] JAIL TIME.
[02:11] HE GETS OUT SCOT-FREE AND
[02:13] ALLEGEDLY WHILE ON PROBATION, HE
[02:18] MEETS ANOTHER WOMAN ON
[02:18] SOCIAL MEDIA OR GUESS WHAT, HE
[02:19] HOLDS HER IN A HOTEL FOR SIX
[02:21] DAYS AND PROCEEDS TO ASSAULT
[02:22] HER.
[02:22] AND THEN THE FEDS COME IN AND
[02:25] PAM BONDI GIVES FEDERAL CHARGES
[02:26] TO THIS GUY.
[02:26] BUT THIS D.A. IS THE ONE WHO LET
[02:28] HIM OUT.
[02:30] BUT IF YOU ARE A I.C.E. AGENT
[02:31] DEFENDING OUR COUNTRY,
[02:32] PROTECTING YOUNG GIRLS, SHE'S
[02:38] GOING TO COME FOR YOU AND KEEP
[02:38] YOU FROM DOING YOUR JOB.
[02:41] THIS IS INEXCUSABLE.
[02:42] IF THERE'S A WAY TO IMPEACH HER,
[02:44] SHE SHOULD BE IMPEACHED.
[02:44] THERE ARE YOUNG WOMEN WHO HAVE
[02:47] BEEN HURT, ALLEGEDLY BECAUSE OF
[02:49] DECISION SHE'S BEEN MADE.
[02:51] >> IS TO FURTHER THIS A LITTLE
[02:53] BIT, ON HER PLATE IS THE MOB
[02:55] AGAINST SAVANAH HERNANDEZ.
[02:59] SHE'S GOT PLENTY OF WORK SHE
[03:00] COULD BE DOING.
[03:01] >> Dakota: WE HAVE SEEN THIS,
[03:06] ESPECIALLY OVER THE LAST SIX
[03:08] YEARS.
[03:09] I THINK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE
[03:10] BEEN PREVIEWED TO THE MORE
[03:12] POLITICIZATION OF THE JUDICIAL
[03:13] SYSTEM.
[03:13] I THINK IT'S A SLIPPERY SLOPE OF
[03:15] BEING ABLE TO PICK AND CHOOSE
[03:16] WHO YOU WANT TO PROSECUTE, THE
[03:18] PRESSURE THAT COMES DOWN ON THEM
[03:20] POLITICALLY BECAUSE THEY ARE
[03:21] APPOINTED.
[03:22] THESE JUDGES HAVE A TON OF POWER
[03:23] AND A TON OF RESPONSIBILITY.
[03:25] ON THAT, THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE
[03:28] TO STEP UP AND START TAKING
[03:29] CONTROL OF THIS.
[03:31] BUT THERE'S NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
[03:32] THAT'S THE PROBLEM.
[03:33] WHERE'S THE ACCOUNTABILITY TO
[03:34] THESE JUDGES WHEN THEY DON'T GET
[03:35] IT RIGHT, WHEN THEY DO THIS OVER
[03:36] AND OVER AND CONTINUE TO SHOW
[03:40] THIS HISTORY OF A POLITICIZATION
[03:40] OF THEIR APPOINTMENT.
[03:43] >> Emily: ARE LOOKED UP HER
[03:45] PROSECUTORIAL RECORD.
[03:46] SHE'S BEEN THERE SINCE 2023.
[03:48] THE LEVEL OF DESTRUCTION THAT
[03:49] SHE HAS CAUSED IN JUST A COUPLE
[03:51] OF YEARS, THE CASE YOU CITED
[03:53] SPOT ON THAT BEFORE THAT TWO
[03:55] TEENAGERS CHARGED IN A CONTRACT
[03:57] KILLING.
[03:58] SHE OFFERED THEM PLEA DEALS.
[04:00] JUVENILE DETENTION AND PROBATION
[04:01] FOR A YEAR AND A HALF.
[04:03] THIS TRIGGERED THE
[04:04] ATTORNEY GENERAL TAKING THE CASE
[04:05] AWAY FROM HER, CITING HER, HER
[04:09] INCOMPETENCE.
[04:09] AND I SAY THIS ALL THE TIME, THE
[04:13] CONSTELLATION OF THE CRIMINAL
[04:13] JUSTICE SYSTEM HAS THE POSITION
[04:15] AND A SPACE FOR EVERYONE.
[04:16] THERE IS A DEFENDANTS ADVOCATE
[04:18] IN THE WAY OF A DEFENSE ATTORNEY
[04:20] IN THE BIG MACHINE.
[04:20] EVERYONE HAS THEIR CALLED.
[04:22] I DON'T NEED THE PROSECUTOR TO
[04:23] TAKE THAT ROLE BECAUSE WHO
[04:24] SPEAKS UP FOR THE VICTIM?
[04:27] WHO SPEAKS FOR THE STATE?
[04:28] THAT'S ONE EXAMPLE.
[04:29] THEN YOU CONTRAST THAT AND
[04:30] HERE'S THE THING, ARE GREAT JUST
[04:32] LACK OF PROSECUTION AND OFFERING
[04:34] OF PLEA DEALS TO THESE LOW LIVES
[04:36] IS IN STARK CONTRAST TO ANY TIME
[04:37] THERE IS SOMEONE IN UNIFORM.
[04:40] SHE CHARGED A TROOPER WITH
[04:41] SECOND-DEGREE MURDER IN A STOP,
[04:44] THE CHARGES DROPPED DUE TO
[04:46] EVIDENTIARY CONCERNS.
[04:47] IT READS LIKE A FLIP-FLOP LADDER
[04:48] WHEN YOU LOOK AT HER HISTORY.
[04:50] ARE THE WAY, SHE INSTRUCTED THE
[04:53] REST OF THE CADRE TO INCLUDE
[04:55] RACE IN ALL PLEA NEGOTIATIONS
[04:57] AND PLEA DECISIONS AFTER WHICH
[04:59] THE DOJ STARTED A CIVIL RIGHTS
[05:01] INVESTIGATION.
[05:02] SO THIS PERSON HAS BEEN
[05:04] INVESTIGATED, HAD TASTE IS TAKEN
[05:06] AWAY, REBUKES, CALLED AN
[05:09] EMBARRASSMENT BY THE MINNESOTA
[05:09] "STAR TRIBUNE" AND YET SOMEHOW
[05:11] SOMEHOW STILL ENJOYS THE BENCH.
[05:12] SHE NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED.
[05:14] I CAN'T WAIT FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP
[05:16] TO INSTALL MUCH MORE JUDICIOUS
[05:17] JUDGES THAT ARE ACTIVISTS, THAT
[05:18] ACTUALLY WILL PROTECT OR
[05:20] PROSECUTE THE -- EXCUSE ME,
[05:24] PROSECUTE THE CRIMINALS.
[05:26] >> Harris: PROTECT THE
[05:29] VICTIMS.
[05:31] >> Donna: HAS ANYONE BEEN TO
[05:33] MINNEAPOLIS LATELY?
[05:33] IT USED TO BE A BEAUTIFUL PLACE
[05:34] TO GO.
[05:35] NOW YOU CANNOT GO TO DOWNTOWN
[05:37] MINNEAPOLIS.
[05:38] WHAT I DON'T THINK PEOPLE
[05:40] REALIZE IS THESE PROSECUTORS
[05:41] THAT DON'T ENFORCE LAWS CAUSE
[05:42] THAT.
[05:43] THAT'S WHY YOU -- THAT'S WHY
[05:46] YOU'RE LIVING SITUATION ISN'T AS
[05:48] GOOD.
[05:48] THAT'S WHY YOU CAN'T GO TO
[05:50] DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS AND TO HAVE
[05:51] DINNER BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT
[05:52] HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE
[05:52] PROSECUTORS WHO DO NOT ENFORCE
[05:54] LAWS.
[05:55] AND WHEN THEY PICK AND CHOOSE --
[05:56] AND I AGREE, I AM ALL FOR
[05:59] LAW ENFORCEMENT BUT A
[06:00] LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
[06:01] SHOULDN'T POINT HIS GUN AT
[06:01] ANYBODY ON THE ROAD WHEN HE IS
[06:03] IN HIS REGULAR CAPACITY AS A
[06:05] PERSON.
[06:06] ANYBODY SHOULD GET ARRESTED FOR
[06:08] THAT.
[06:09] BUT THEN, YOU SHOULD ARREST
[06:11] OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE VIOLATING
[06:12] LAWS, WHETHER YOU AGREE WITH
[06:13] THEIR SIDE OF THE AISLE OR NODS.
[06:16] AND WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR
[06:18] PROSECUTIONS BASED ON THE WAY
[06:19] YOU FEEL POLITICALLY, YOU ARE
[06:21] DONE.
[06:21] THAT'S NOT WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED
[06:22] TO BE DOING.
[06:24] THAT IS A LAWLESS SOCIETY.
[06:26] A LAWLESS SOCIETY IS ONE THAT
[06:27] DOES NOT FOLLOW THE BLACK LETTER
[06:29] OF THE LAW.
[06:30] AND THAT'S WHAT'S HAPPENING.
[06:31] NO ONE WANTS TO GO TO
[06:32] MINNEAPOLIS.
[06:33] NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE THERE.
[06:35] YOU CAN'T LIVE DOWNTOWN
[06:36] MINNEAPOLIS ANYMORE.
[06:37] >> YOU KNOW I LIVED THERE FOR
[06:38] MANY YEARS.
[06:38] I MET MY HUSBAND THERE WE WERE
[06:40] BOTH IN DIFFERENT STATIONS AT
[06:42] DIFFERENT TIMES.
[06:43] THE STATE IS MAGNIFICAT SAID.
[06:44] THE POLITICS HAVE GONE IN SUCH A
[06:46] WAY THAT THE POLITICIANS HAVE SO
[06:47] MUCH CONTROL.
[06:51] JUST LOOK AT THE ANTI-ICE
[06:51] PROTEST THEMSELVES.
[06:54] THEY WOULDN'T ALLOW LOCAL POLICE
[06:55] TO EVEN HELP WHEN THEY KNEW THAT
[06:57] ICE NEEDED HELP TO EVEN KEEP THE
[06:59] PEACE FOR THE CITIZENS THAT WERE
[07:01] THERE.
[07:01] THEY COULDN'T EVEN GET TO WORK
[07:03] BECAUSE THESE IDIOTS WERE IN THE
[07:04] MIDDLE OF THE STREET BLOCKING
[07:05] HOMES AND ROADWAYS.
[07:07] IT IS UNBELIEVABLE.
[07:08] BUT I BELIEVE IN THE PEOPLE
[07:09] THERE.
[07:09] AND IT'S SAD.
[07:10] I WANT THEM TO HAVE THE GREAT
[07:11] LIVES THEY USED TO HAVE.
[07:13] >> Dakota: AND THAT'S THE
[07:15] THING, BUT WHERE IS THE
[07:16] ACCOUNTABILITY ON THE
[07:17] PROSECUTORS AND ON THE JUDGES?
[07:19] IT'S IN THEIR BEST INTEREST TO
[07:21] STAY MORE POLITICALLY ALIGNED
[07:22] WITH WHAT THEIR DECISIONS ARE
[07:23] BECAUSE EVEN IF THEY GETS
[07:25] DRONE -- IT GETS THROWN OUT DOWN
[07:26] THE ROAD, THEY CAN SAY WE TRIED
[07:28] TO DO IT BUT SOMETHING ELSE GOT
[07:30] OUT.
[07:30] THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY IN
[07:31] THE ASPECT OF THE PEOPLE THAT
[07:33] HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE.
[07:34] IT'S VERY DANGEROUS FOR YOU TO
[07:36] HAVE LEADERS AND PEOPLE
