Megyn Kelly and Rudy Giuliani Expose Fox News Ban on Charlie Kirk and America First Conservatives
Megyn Kelly publicly accused Fox News of hypocrisy in their coverage of Charlie Kirk, claiming the network banned him while later portraying him as one of their own. Rudy Giuliani joined the conversation, revealing he too was banned from Fox News and hasn't appeared on the network since the 2020 election dispute, despite his close historical ties to the network and Roger Ailes. Former Trump fundraiser Caroline Wren corroborated these claims, pointing to Fox executives like Murdoch, Paul Ryan, and Karl Rove as responsible for banning America First conservatives from the network between 2021 and 2024.
Megyn Kelly, former Fox News host, publicly called out the network over their coverage of Charlie Kirk, accusing them of hypocrisy. Kelly stated that Fox News was talking about Kirk as if he was one of their own, when in reality, the network had effectively banned him. According to Kelly, she knew from behind-the-scenes conversations that Team Charlie was annoyed because Kirk had been banned from appearing on Fox. The alleged reason: he had been too supportive of Tucker Carlson and was considered "other" by network decision-makers.
Kirk himself appeared to confirm this assessment in a December 2023 interview with Breitbart, noting that Fox News didn't have a single representative present at an event, despite being given the opportunity. Kirk expressed hope that the relationship could be healed, stating he loves Fox and they had been good to him in the past, but "for whatever reason, it's gone off the reservation since Tucker's departure."
Rudy Giuliani Reveals His Own Fox News Ban
Rudy Giuliani, America's Mayor, provided additional insight into the alleged banning practices at Fox News, revealing that he too had been completely banned from the network. Giuliani shared that Fox no longer even interviews him on September 11, despite the fact that for 10 or 12 straight years he had been interviewed on Fox Live and Fox and Friends to discuss the tragic day that defined much of his mayoral legacy.
The ban apparently began around the time of the 2020 election dispute. Giuliani explained that several Fox personalities thought they could book him on their shows, only to have to call back and tell him he wasn't allowed on air. This was particularly striking given Giuliani's historical relationship with the network. As mayor of New York, he helped establish Fox News in the city by making a deal to give them the New York City station for a large amount of money. Roger Ailes was one of his closest friends and clients, and Giuliani was very close to Rupert Murdoch, even staying at his house.
Despite these deep connections, Giuliani hasn't appeared on Fox since the 2020 election dispute. He noted that at least three or four occasions, "very decent wonderful people" who were friends of his wanted to put him on air, but had to call back and say they weren't allowed. Giuliani expressed particular dismay that Fox doesn't even mention him on September 11 anymore, saying "It's as if September 11 happened without me."
Caroline Wren Confirms the Ban
Former Trump fundraiser Caroline Wren also weighed in on the controversy, writing that while she appreciated the coverage Fox News was giving Charlie Kirk, people shouldn't forget that Fox banned Kirk from coming on the network from 2021 to 2024. She criticized the anchors who were emotional on air about losing Kirk, stating these were the same anchors who "didn't have the guts to challenge Murdoch, Paul Ryan, and Karl Rove when they banned Charlie from their network."
The America First Conservative Split from Fox News
The conversation turned to a broader pattern: in the era of Trump, America First conservatives have found homes on several other networks, while Fox News appears to have become the repository for what some call the "surrender caucus" style Republicans, including figures like Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, Paul Ryan, and Karl Rove.
When asked why America First conservatives seem to be on the outs at Fox, Giuliani suggested that after January 6, the network panicked. He stated that even some of their on-air talent panicked, and that some of the testimony they gave wasn't true. Giuliani expressed uncertainty about why Murdoch turned on Trump, noting they had been very close and that he himself had served as "sort of an intermediary for them for the longest time."
Giuliani revealed that Turner Broadcasting had actually sued him for putting Fox on the air in New York when they were trying to freeze Fox out of the market. He concluded by assuring viewers that he's not the only one banned from Fox News, saying "There's a rather large group of us."
