New York Times Confirms Hunter Biden Laptop Authenticity After Media and Big Tech Blocked the Story

The New York Times has confirmed the authenticity of Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop, marking a stunning reversal after mainstream media and Big Tech previously blocked coverage and dismissed reports as Russian disinformation. The admission comes after 50 intelligence officials signed a letter claiming the laptop was part of a disinformation campaign, despite then-Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe stating on the record in October 2020 that it was not part of any Russian operation. The laptop story, originally broken by the New York Post, was suppressed across social media platforms and dismissed by major news outlets during a critical period before the 2020 election.

The New York Times Reverses Course on Hunter Biden Laptop

The New York Times has finally confirmed that Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop is authentic, marking a stunning admission and about-face after the mainstream media and Big Tech blocked stories about the laptop for months. Major news outlets and social media platforms even smeared reports as Russian disinformation when 50 intelligence officials signed a letter claiming that the laptop and Hunter Biden's emails were part of a disinformation campaign.

Intelligence Chief Contradicted the Disinformation Narrative

Back in October of 2020, then-sitting Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe was called upon to clarify whether the laptop and emails were real. Ratcliffe stated clearly: "This is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign. The intelligence community has not been involved with Hunter Biden's laptop. Hunter Biden is a U.S. person and he would be subject to any investigation regarding fraud or corruption, would be rightfully the jurisdiction of the FBI. So the FBI has had possession of this."

Journalism Morphing Into Activism

Media analyst Joe Concha pointed out how journalism morphed into activism during the coverage of this story. "It's a hoot to go back and look at the way this story was covered at the time," Concha noted. "Some outlets ignored it and others were patently pious in rejecting it."

One outlet stated: "We don't want to waste our time on stories that aren't stories and we don't want to waste our listeners' and readers' time on stories that are fiction."

Among those 50 intelligence officials who signed the letter claiming Russian disinformation was former CIA Director John Brennan, who now works with NBC News. "Are there any apologies coming? Of course not. Any corrections coming? Not a shot," Concha observed. "No remorse whatsoever because ultimately Joe Biden got into the White House and to report on it now, there aren't too many consequences now, are there?"

Political Hacks Refused to Report Influence Peddling

The suppression of the story extended across multiple platforms and personalities. Political commentators on CNN and MSNBC refused to report on what was a serious story about influence peddling. Notable figures like Leslie Stahl said they couldn't verify the story. During a presidential debate, Chris Wallace cut off President Trump when he tried to bring up the laptop, saying Trump "has to be a little careful when he brings up the Hunter Biden story." This meant that President Trump, in front of 90 million viewers, wasn't able to discuss the Hunter Biden laptop story because the moderator deemed it wasn't worthy of conversation.

Big Tech Led the Censorship Campaign

Christian Whiton emphasized that Big Tech companies were at the forefront of censoring this information. "Tech in particular was in the front seat of censoring this," Whiton explained. "Twitter when I actually reposted some of the content from the New York Post censored my account, wouldn't unlock it until I deleted. It was the beginning of the end for me with Twitter when they eventually censored Donald Trump, I said that's it, deleted my account. That's one of the best things you can do. I think that's better than quitting smoking for your health, at least for your mental health."

Whiton continued: "Silicon Valley and corporate media are terrible at censorship. They censor stuff that is true. We saw it with coronavirus too. They just get it wrong. The American people should be able to decide what they consume media-wise, not Big Tech."

The Most Important Story of the Election

In retrospect, the Hunter Biden laptop story, originally broken by the New York Post, was likely the most important story surrounding the 2020 election. The coordinated suppression by mainstream media outlets and Big Tech platforms prevented millions of Americans from accessing information that could have influenced their voting decisions. The belated confirmation by the New York Times raises serious questions about media bias, the role of intelligence officials in shaping public narratives, and the power of tech companies to control information flow during critical moments in democratic processes.
