Over 100,000 Expected at Charlie Kirk Memorial Service at State Farm Stadium in Glendale

September 18, 2025

Glendale police prepare for an unprecedented security operation as over 100,000 people are expected to gather at State Farm Stadium to pay respects to conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. President Donald Trump confirmed he will fly from Washington to Phoenix to attend the memorial service, alongside other dignitaries. The U.S. Secret Service is already on the ground working with state, local, and federal partners to secure the venue and surrounding areas. Turning Point USA announced they will cover all costs for the memorial, including venue rental and security expenses, which could reach seven figures. The event comes just days after Kirk's assassination, prompting heightened security protocols and major traffic disruptions throughout the valley.

Massive Memorial Service Planned for Charlie Kirk

Glendale police are preparing for one of the largest memorial services in recent Arizona history as over 100,000 people are expected to descend upon State Farm Stadium to honor conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. The stadium will host 63,000 attendees inside, with tens of thousands more expected on the surrounding property.

President Donald Trump confirmed he and other officials will travel from Washington to Phoenix specifically to attend the service, underscoring the national significance of the event.

Multi-Agency Security Operation Underway

The U.S. Secret Service is already on the ground in the valley, coordinating with state, local, and federal law enforcement partners to ensure security for the high-profile memorial. Special Agent William Mack briefed Arizona's Family on the extensive preparations being undertaken.

Glendale police announced they will deploy a heavy presence of uniformed officers throughout the area, utilizing approximately 5,000 security cameras positioned around State Farm Stadium. The department is working alongside multiple law enforcement agencies across the valley to manage the event.

Carl Degera, an international security consultant, explained that while State Farm Stadium already maintains robust security infrastructure, measures will be significantly heightened for this event. Security protocols will extend for miles from the stadium itself.

"Increased law enforcement presence as you get closer. Of course, you're going to see Secret Service there and a multitude of other security protocols in place. Some you're going to be able to notice and some you won't see at all," Degera said.

Major Traffic Disruptions Expected

Police are warning valley residents to expect major road closures, though specific locations and timing have not yet been determined. Heavy traffic is anticipated as guests fly in and out of the area for the memorial service.

Authorities are asking the public for patience and grace, acknowledging there will be significant delays throughout the region.

Heightened Security Following Assassination

The security requirements for this event are particularly complex given the circumstances surrounding Kirk's death. "The security for this and the security awareness for this is compounded because of the nature of why we're there. The root of this is the assassination that occurred only a few days ago," officials stated.

Financial Responsibility for the Memorial

While the exact cost of the memorial service remains undisclosed, similar events have carried price tags reaching seven figures. Turning Point USA has announced they will cover all expenses associated with the memorial, including both the venue rental and the extensive security measures required for an event of this scale.

As the stadium sits mostly empty in preparation, anticipation continues to build for what is expected to be a massive turnout on Sunday.
