She was fortunate enough to spend time with Kirk and understood his mission clearly: after MAGA voters turned out overwhelmingly for Donald Trump in the November 2024 campaign, Kirk's goal was to turn them into lifelong conservatives.
The internal response at Turning Point has been extraordinary. Donations are coming in like never before, and people are inquiring about starting chapters at both the high school and college level. Gaines shared her experience attending church services, where parking spots were unavailable, seats were full, and people waited in the lobby for the next service. "A lot of people, myself included, truthfully credit myself to finding my voice to Charlie Kirk," Gaines shared. She believes his death has inspired ten thousand, if not more, Charlie Kirks across the nation to engage in the same format, debate style, intellect, and critical thinking that he demonstrated—which is merely civil discourse and truth.
Gaines didn't use the word "evil" lightly when describing what conservatives are up against. She believes this battle is spiritual in nature. "We know that's what Satan does: he distorts, manipulates, deceives, he is the father of lies. And how do we combat those lies? We do that with the truth, and that's exactly what Charlie Kirk did."
Security Concerns and the Path Forward
When asked whether conservatives would be reluctant to go on college campuses due to security concerns after Kirk's assassination, Gaines acknowledged there would be a level of apprehension among everyday people. Conservatives have been the silent majority for a long time because they feared retaliation, emotional blackmail, and now physical harm for speaking the truth.
