Charlie Kirk's Washington, DC Battles and Tributes

Showing 99 Washington, DC videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.

Washington, DC serves mostly as the setting for two kinds of Charlie Kirk stories: fights over how the federal government should run the city itself, and the ceremonies that marked his life and legacy there. He championed Trump's federal takeover of DC's police department as a genuine test case for restoring order in blue cities generally, discussing with author Auron MacIntyre how the legal doctrine of disparate impact had made ordinary policing harder to enforce, and separately pointed to Police Chief Pamela Smith's background as the department's former chief equity officer as evidence that diversity-focused hiring had come at the expense of basic competency during a period of rising crime. Kirk also covered the January 6th pardons in detail with journalist Julie Kelly, who had advised the administration directly, describing a standoff where the DC jail initially refused to release pardoned defendants even after Trump signed the order. The city hosted the more solemn side of Kirk's story after his death, too: Trump awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in a Rose Garden ceremony held on what would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday, with Erika Kirk accepting the honor and delivering a tribute to a husband she said lived, and died, without fear.
