Steve Baker Investigates January 6 Pipe Bombs and Federal Law Enforcement's Suspicious Response
Tucker Carlson examines the unresolved mystery of pipe bombs planted at the RNC and DNC on January 6, featuring journalist Steve Baker's investigation. Despite extensive surveillance on Capitol Hill and the largest domestic law enforcement investigation in American history, federal authorities failed to identify the bomber for years. After Baker published his findings suggesting federal involvement, authorities suddenly arrested a suspect within days. This raises serious questions about what federal law enforcement knew, when they knew it, and why solving this crime wasn't a priority until an independent journalist got too close to uncomfortable answers.
January 6 has become clear as not an insurrection against Congress, but rather an insurrection by Congress and Permanent Washington against the American population. Yet one critical part of that story remained unresolved: somebody planted pipe bombs outside both the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee headquarters on the morning of January 6. News outlets reported this in the immediate aftermath, then largely stopped covering it.
Later reports revealed that Kamala Harris was at the DNC when the pipe bomb was found, yet she never mentioned it publicly. This raised obvious questions about what really happened and why federal authorities couldn't answer the most basic question: who did this?
The Surveillance Paradox
Capitol Hill ranks among the most surveilled locations on Earth. Few physical spots exist where cameras don't monitor and record movements. With advances in facial recognition technology and other investigative tools, identifying someone who planted bombs on Capitol Hill should be straightforward, especially given what officials called the largest domestic law enforcement investigation in American history.
Instead, there was silence until journalist Darren Beattie, running Revolver News at the time, published a piece asking why this crime remained unsolved and how it connected to the events of January 6. The Biden administration's explanation, to the extent they addressed it, suggested the bombs were meant to distract law enforcement from the Capitol events. This narrative made little sense given what actually transpired that day.
A Crime Against Power
January 6 differed from other widely publicized crimes because it was perceived as a crime against the seat of power itself, not against private citizens. Unlike other tragic events that affected ordinary Americans, January 6 was constructed as a threat to bipartisan Washington. Both Democrats and Republicans like Lindsey Graham and Chuck Schumer reacted with equal alarm because it threatened the symbol of their power: Congress.
The institution once called "the people's house" served as a reminder that the purpose of government is to serve the country's owners - the citizens who vote for their representatives. That's not the prevailing attitude in Washington today, where the relationship has inverted. Those who showed up with concerns about their government faced imprisonment, denied bail, and inadequate legal representation.
Steve Baker's Investigation
While establishment media showed little interest in solving this crime or pressing federal law enforcement for answers about CCTV footage and facial recognition results, journalist Steve Baker, working for The Blaze, spent considerable time investigating. He pursued questions about how many hours of footage existed, whether it had been analyzed, and why authorities couldn't identify the perpetrator when they clearly possessed the capability.
Baker developed his own theory and conclusions, which became the subject of a well-publicized lawsuit. Within days of Baker naming someone as a potential suspect, federal authorities suddenly arrested a different person - described as an autistic black man who confessed to the crime. After years of apparently making no progress, the Department of Justice solved the case in approximately 10 minutes following Baker's publication of his hypothesis suggesting federal employee involvement.
The Larger Pattern
This situation serves as a reminder that no US citizen has an obligation to accept statements from officials or federal law enforcement as gospel truth. People in authority have motives to lie, particularly when covering up their own actions. The lack of effort and pressure to solve these pipe bombings may stem from the fact that many in Washington are potentially implicated.
If January 6 was not entirely organic but partly staged or encouraged by people with different agendas, including sabotaging Trump's political future, the perpetrators wouldn't only be Democrats but would include Republican leadership as well. This represents a bipartisan effort.
Beyond Partisan Politics
The real lesson extends beyond January 6 to issues like foreign wars and economic mismanagement. These aren't partisan questions where one party gained control and went rogue. Instead, leaders of both parties in Washington share similar visions for what they want and how it benefits them, operating not in opposition but in consensus and collusion.
Looking at the past 40 years of American history, the unavoidable conclusion is that parties aren't bitterly at odds but secretly working together. This specific story about the pipe bombs provides a window into the wall of resistance encountered when asking questions about what's really happening. The evidence matters, and Americans should assess it themselves to reach their own conclusions about its meaning.
