Isabel Brown Takes You Behind the Scenes at President Trump's State of the Union Address

Isabel Brown fulfills a childhood dream by attending President Trump's State of the Union address as a guest of Congressman Riley Moore. From hair and makeup to dinner with the congressman, from Speaker Johnson's exclusive cocktail party to sitting in the House chamber gallery, Isabel documents an unforgettable day on Capitol Hill. She captures the electric atmosphere as Trump celebrates American exceptionalism, honors the USA Olympic hockey team, and pays tribute to Charlie Kirk. But she also reveals the stark division in the room as Democrats refused to stand against political violence and sat silent during moments that should unite all Americans. This is an insider's view of one of the most dramatic State of the Union addresses in modern history.

A Childhood Dream Fulfilled

The State of the Union has always held special significance for Isabel Brown. Growing up, her mother made her and her siblings watch the entire address every year, then explain what was happening in the country. What seemed awful as a child became something she learned to appreciate. Now, the State of the Union is her Super Bowl, an event she looks forward to annually and has live-streamed reactions to for years.

This year was different. Isabel received an invitation to attend in person as a guest of Congressman Riley Moore from West Virginia. The day would prove to be one of the craziest and most memorable since moving to Washington DC.

Preparing for the Big Night

The day began early with hair and makeup, which Isabel admitted she desperately needed after her daughter refused to sleep until 1:00 in the morning. Between getting ready, she sat down for an interview with Tommy Robinson and reviewed an absolutely packed schedule that would extend well past midnight.

Isabel faced a fashion dilemma. Her outfit plan involved a white pantsuit, but she worried this might be the uniform of choice for Democratic women as a statement of solidarity, as it had been in previous years. She decided not to care and wore it anyway, determined to take it back for Republican women.

Predictions with Michael Knowles

Before the speech, Isabel met up with Michael Knowles at Butterworth's, described as one of the secret right-wing hangouts in the capital. They made predictions for the evening, including whether the speech would run over an hour and twenty minutes (they agreed it would), what the opening topic would be (economy versus immigration), and whether someone would be escorted out (undoubtedly yes).

As a breastfeeding mother to her ten-month-old daughter, Isabel had to squeeze in pumping sessions between her packed schedule of editing videos, answering calls, and sending emails.

Dinner and Reception

Isabel enjoyed a sit-down dinner with Congressman Riley Moore, who she described as truly one of the good ones in Congress. She had featured him on her show just weeks earlier and felt honored to be his guest for such a significant evening.

After dinner, the congressman took her through the tunnels underneath the congressional offices to reach the main Capitol building. It had been years since Isabel had been inside, back when she was an intern, and she found it exciting to see the inner workings of the House of Representatives again.

They arrived at Speaker Mike Johnson's office for a cocktail party that brought together familiar faces including the USA Olympic hockey team, Nick Shirley, Chloe Cole, members of Congress, and administration officials. Isabel caught up with several friends and made predictions about the speech.

Meeting the Guests

At the Speaker's reception, Isabel ran into Nick Shirley and joked about whether President Trump would mention the Layering Center during his speech. She also spoke with Chloe Cole, who announced the Chloe Cole Act of 2025, drafted by Representative Bob Andre. The legislation would protect all children in the United States from transgender procedures under the age of 18 and allow children who have already been harmed to seek legal recourse.

When it came time to enter the House chamber, Isabel had to surrender all electronic devices. No cameras, phones, pens, or any electronic devices were allowed inside. She hated that she couldn't document the journey to her seat, but later felt glad because it allowed her to be completely present for one of the coolest nights of her life.

Inside the Chamber

Isabel sat behind the president with a view of the members of Congress. She loved watching their faces throughout the speech because of the drama that unfolded. One of the most powerful moments came when President Trump spoke about faith and religion in America.

Trump celebrated the tremendous renewal in religion, faith, Christianity, and belief in God during his time in office, especially among young people. He credited his great friend Charlie Kirk for a big part of that renewal. He then referenced Charlie Kirk's assassination, calling him a martyr for his beliefs, and recognized Charlie's wife Erica Kirk in attendance.

Trump used this moment to call for unity and to reject political violence of any kind. What the cameras didn't show, Isabel noted, was that half of the Democrats refused to stand up for that statement. They refused to stand to call for an end to political violence while referencing Charlie Kirk's assassination, which Isabel found insane.

Moments of Unity

Despite the divisions, there were a few moments of unity. When President Trump recognized the men's gold medal Olympic hockey team, the room became electric. Isabel was sitting just off to the left of the hockey players in that aisle. Almost every single Democratic politician stood up and chanted USA, joining in the applause and celebration of American exceptionalism.

Isabel noted the irony that five minutes earlier, such patriotic displays would have been criticized as racist or extremist, but now everyone was celebrating American achievement together.

The Closing Message

Isabel's favorite part of the speech was the ending, which focused on American exceptionalism and the enduring legacy of the nation. President Trump spoke about how Americans ventured across a daunting and dangerous continent, carved paths through unforgiving wilderness, settled a boundless frontier, and tamed the wild west. From empty marshes and wide open plains, Americans raised up the world's greatest cities.

He reminded the chamber that Americans mastered the world's mightiest industries, shattered history's monstrous tyrannies, and liberated millions from the chains of fascism, communism, oppression, and terror. Americans lifted humanity into the skies and launched mankind into the stars on rockets powered by sheer American will and unyielding American pride.

Trump declared that the great betrayal of hardworking patriots was over and they would never be forgotten again. He proclaimed that the golden age of America is upon us and that the revolution that began in 1776 has not ended because the flame of liberty and independence still burns in the heart of every American patriot.

Two Different Americas

After the speech, Isabel and Michael Knowles hopped on a Daily Wire live stream from a setup in the back corner of the Speaker's office. Isabel gave her final thoughts on what she witnessed, emphasizing that it was more obvious than ever that Americans have been living in two different Americas for many years.

The dichotomy was clear in what people applauded for, what they fought for and against, and in their most basic values as Americans. Sitting in the gallery, Isabel saw a clear division between the United States of America as it has been known and loved for 250 years, built upon the foundation of one nation under God, and complete Marxist chaos and anarchy.

She described one America as championing open borders, refusing to prosecute criminals killing citizens, and supporting political violence against enemies. As Abraham Lincoln famously said, a house divided cannot stand.

However, Isabel expressed hope that the concept of the unity party emerging in Washington is beginning to extend to the rest of the country. She found it significant that most of the issues discussed were not economic but social issues like protecting children from transgender procedures. These conversations have been happening in the conservative space for years but very few people in Washington have been willing to address them.

Isabel believed this was intentional because these are ninety-ten issues, American issues versus chaos and Marxist issues. Voters now have a very clear image moving forward into midterms, 2028, and beyond about what kind of country they have the chance to save versus the one that will come into fruition if Americans fail to act courageously.

The Marathon Continues

The live stream wrapped up at quarter to midnight, and Isabel faced a 7:00 a.m. flight to Nashville. Her husband was working until 2:30 in the morning booking cabinet secretaries for television appearances at 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. It was one of the craziest days Isabel had experienced since moving to DC, but truly a dream come true. She couldn't wait for next year.
