The Left's Response to Charlie Kirk's Death Reveals Their True Nature and Values

Charlie Kirk, a conservative commentator known for respectful debate and open dialogue, was shot and killed at a university speaking event. Rather than mourning the loss of a young father and husband, left-wing media outlets, academics, and public figures celebrated his death, mocked his family, and blamed him for his own murder. The responses ranged from calling him a troll and comparing him to the KKK, to witches claiming credit for curses, to comedians joking about his grave. Democrats refused moments of silence in his honor. Charlie Kirk's own warnings about rising political violence and assassination culture on the left proved tragically accurate. He was 31 years old.

A Man of Debate, Not Violence

Charlie Kirk built his career on respectful engagement and open debate. He didn't lead violent protests or condemn those who disagreed with him. Instead, he met people as equals, using understanding and logic to resolve differences. He was a family man with conservative Christian values who believed in the power of words and ideas over force.

That openness and willingness to engage was ultimately exploited. At a university speaking event, Charlie Kirk was shot and killed. He was 31 years old, leaving behind a wife and family.

The Left's Immediate Response

While many expected that the left might show even a fraction of the respect they showed to George Floyd, the reality was starkly different. The responses from those who claim to champion kindness and tolerance revealed something far darker.

The terrible responses started immediately. Somebody began stealing merchandise from the stall right after Charlie had been shot. Left-wing news outlets swung into action, not to mourn a life lost, but to blame Charlie for his own shooting.

One commentator stated: "He's been one of the most divisive, especially divisive, younger figures who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which then lead to hateful actions."

The message was clear: to the left, words are violence, but actual violence is totally justifiable. The ends justify the means.

Media Outlets Show Their True Colors

The New Republic described the killing as "MAGA troll Charlie Kirk shot during speaking event at university." To look at Charlie Kirk, an intelligent, kind family man with conservative Christian values and define him as a troll on the day of his murder takes a special kind of cruelty.

Race commentator Shola Shogbamimu, an honorary dean or professor of Newcastle University, called his death "poetic" before the blood had even dried. Another commentator, Nels Abbey, compared Charlie to the KKK, saying: "I don't agree he was a sister for TikTok age. I believe he was a David Duke for the TikTok age." When asked to clarify, he explained that David Duke was the former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

The New Republic then reminded readers who the real victims are, with a headline reading: "The far right is already blaming the left for Charlie Kirk's shooting."

BBC and MSNBC Join the Pile-On

The BBC featured someone laughing about Charlie Kirk's shooting during a broadcast. The guest stated: "It is a really shocking moment, you know, and I was thinking, you know, I've never shared a Trump post in my life. I will contemplate sharing this one, but what I will say with a caveat, he wasn't admired and loved by all."

MSNBC called Charlie Kirk "divisive and polarizing," with one commentator saying: "Charlie Kirk is a divisive figure, polarizing, lightning rod, whatever term you want to use."

These people seemingly didn't realize that their words were being broadcast to audiences who might expect basic human decency, even for those with whom they disagree.

Witches, Vigil Disruptions, and Oxford University

Feminist news outlet Jezebel had hired a witch to put a curse on Charlie two days before his death, leading them to post a very strange editorial note afterward. One commenter noted: "It's a shame it's not the 1700s or I'm pretty sure this would be grounds for a dunking."

Leftists attended a vigil for Charlie specifically to disrupt it. When confronted, one attendee was asked: "Do you support his death?" The response: "I do." When pressed further about supporting Charlie Kirk being killed, the person confirmed: "Yes, I do." Another stated they would have killed Charlie themselves.

Oxford University became embroiled in controversy when George Abaraonye, president of the Oxford Union, posted: "Charlie Kirk got shot. Let's effing go" and "Charlie Kirk got shot. LOL." Abaraonye had previously debated Charlie at Oxford University and lost. He later apologized, calling his reaction "impulsive."

Comedians Reveal Their Moral Bankruptcy

Transgender comedian Brandy Bryant posted: "Charlie Kirk's grave is a gender-neutral toilet."

British comedian Josie Long said: "I'm on Twitter for the night for the crack. Pig Christmas."

Joe Lycett responded to a heartfelt post by Jeremy Clarkson, who said that for the first time in his life, he was scared of writing a newspaper column. Lycett's response: "Well, stop being so objectionable. Problem solved." The message: just agree with us or we'll kill you.

Ben Vandervelde posted: "Yep, I don't mean to be Captain Doom, but all the level-headed responses you'd expect from most progressives if one of their gang was shot simply not going to be mirrored by the right team. They're going to be after ugly revenge."

The "Level-Headed" Left

Claims of "level-headed responses" from the left ring hollow when examining their own rhetoric leading up to this moment. A compilation of left-wing calls for violence includes:

  • "I just don't even know why there aren't uprisings all over the country. Maybe there will be."
  • "People need to start taking to the streets. This is a dictator."
  • "There needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there is unrest in our lives."
  • "Show me where it says that protests are supposed to be polite and peaceful."
  • "When they go low, we kick them."
  • "I thought he should have punched him in the face."
  • "I'd like to punch him in the face. If we were in high school, I'd take you behind the gym and beat the hell out of him."
  • "When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?"
  • "They're still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump. And that's a fact."
  • "I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House."
  • "I will go and take Trump out tonight."
  • "If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they're not welcome anymore anywhere."

Gun Control Deflections

The left also used this incident to push their own agenda, claiming Charlie wouldn't have died if there had been gun control. The argument ignored the reality that gun control doesn't prevent violence, as evidenced by crime in countries with strict gun laws.

Many left-wing commentators and political leaders showed nothing but disdain. They didn't care that Charlie was killed. The question arises: when they take power, will they care about anyone who disagrees with them?

Denied Moments of Silence

The House of Representatives attempted to hold a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk. Some Democrats protested.

In the European Parliament, a conservative politician gave over the rest of his speaking time to a minute of silence for Charlie Kirk. This was denied by the left. The politician stated: "The murder of political activist Charlie Kirk, a husband, loving father, and patriot has shocked the world. We must strongly condemn political violence and rhetoric that incites violence. Please stand with me in reflection and prayer in his honor. And I yield the rest of my time for a moment of silence."

The request was rejected, with interruptions preventing the moment of silence. This was not only a morally repugnant move, but also a diplomatically foolish one. Charlie Kirk was close to Trump, and this was the European establishment thumbing their nose at the incoming administration.

Charlie's Prophetic Warning

Charlie Kirk had foretold his own fate, posting this message a few months before his death:

"Assassination culture is spreading on the left. 48% of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. 55% said the same about Donald Trump. In California, activists are naming ballot measures after Luigi Mangione. The left is being whipped into a violent frenzy. Any setback, whether losing an election or losing a court case, justifies a maximally violent response. This is the natural outgrowth of left-wing protest culture, tolerating violence and mayhem for years on end. The cowardice of local prosecutors and school officials have turned the left into a ticking time bomb."

These were tragically prescient words.

Why They Hated Him

The left hated Charlie Kirk so much because he was right and because he didn't use force. He debated people. He used words. The left knew that he could change people's minds, and they had no answer to that. Their arguments couldn't defeat Charlie, so they used violence, and now they're celebrating violence. That's why they all claim he lost debates—because that's the only way they can win.

The trouble with leftists is that they believe the ends justify the means and that they have a monopoly on kindness. Their own conscience doesn't trouble them while they commit atrocities.

Charlie's Final Message

Charlie Kirk, wise beyond his 31 years, left behind these words:

"The spiritual battle is coming to the west and the enemies are wokeism or Marxism combining with Islamism to go after what we call the American way of life. And the American way of life is very simple. I want to be able to get married, buy a home, have kids, allow them to ride their bike till the sun goes down, send them to a good school, have a low crime neighborhood, not to have my kid be taught the lesbian, gay, transgender garbage in their school, while also not having them have to hear the Muslim call to prayer five times a day. That's important. We want the American way of life, which is by the way Christendom."

"Christians, our sacrifice, our toil, our vision, the outgrowth of the scriptures gave us Western civilization. And this is where I think is a great rallying cry. Doesn't matter if you're Hispanic, doesn't matter if you're Asian, doesn't matter if you're black or white. Everybody, if you are Christian and Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, these two threats are combining forces to come after us. And it's time that the church stands and rises up against it."
