[00:00] My last chat with Charlie was on his
[00:03] radio show the Monday before he died. He
[00:06] ended the segment five minutes earlier
[00:07] than usual. Normally I get about a half
[00:09] an hour with him and but he cut me off 5
[00:11] minutes earlier which I thought well I
[00:12] guess I didn't bring the heat today. I
[00:13] don't know like maybe wasn't maybe it
[00:15] wasn't my best day. We would speak about
[00:18] uh once a week on his show which was an
[00:19] honor. And he actually wanted to just go
[00:23] on a rant. He wanted to opine. He wanted
[00:26] to apply specifically on that young
[00:28] liberal women would be happier if they
[00:31] got married and had children.
[00:33] So this wasn't some sort of grandiose
[00:35] political statement. He wasn't talking
[00:36] about some bill that's come through
[00:38] Congress. He said, "I'm going to let
[00:39] Marlo run here because I want to talk
[00:41] about how men have a God-given direction
[00:45] to start a family." Isn't that the
[00:48] truth? Isn't that a wonderful message?
[00:50] But what's interesting in apppropo today
[00:52] because I'm starting off the Israel
[00:53] section of of the day and I'll be back
[00:55] for the media section as well. So
[00:56] hopefully all of you are here all night.
[00:58] Um my last chat with him was actually
[01:01] supposed to be on Zoom the night before
[01:04] he died. Charlie and I were in a group
[01:07] chat. It's not very big. Maybe 10 or so
[01:09] people that Charlie trusts specifically
[01:12] on the topic of Israel. And you're going
[01:15] to get a kick out of what the group chat
[01:16] is called. It's called saving
[01:18] civilization.
[01:21] So, a little grandiose, right? And when
[01:24] Charlie started it and he he included me
[01:26] in it, I was thinking, "Well, that's
[01:28] that's funny." But knowing Charlie,
[01:31] maybe it wasn't maybe it wasn't a joke
[01:34] at all. Maybe it was him being literal
[01:37] and it was an honor to be included in
[01:38] it. But the night before he was
[01:40] murdered, we were on the chat on this
[01:42] Zoom call. I unfortunately was not on it
[01:46] because I was at swim team trying to be
[01:49] a good dad, which is ironic given the
[01:51] previous conversations, but I wish I'd
[01:53] been there. It's at least to talk to my
[01:55] friend one last time. But what was
[01:57] interesting is that the subject of what
[01:59] would have been my last call with
[02:00] Charlie was actually to prepare for
[02:02] hostile questions about Israel on
[02:04] campus.
[02:06] And the way the call ended, according to
[02:08] one of my friends who was on the call,
[02:09] he said the final sentiment of the call
[02:13] was these are the pillars to save
[02:14] Western civilization.
[02:17] Jews,
[02:18] Christians, America, and Israel. And he
[02:23] said, Charlie immediately reacted with
[02:24] an affirmation. Exactly. That's what it
[02:27] is. So, since his assassination, a lot
[02:29] of anti-Israel voices have claimed he
[02:31] turned on Israel, but it's just not so.
[02:33] He's one of its starch staunchest
[02:35] defenders in my generation. I'm read
[02:38] some quotes. I'm very pro-Israel. My
[02:40] whole life I have defended Israel. He
[02:42] said this recently and no non-Jewish
[02:45] person my age has a longer or clearer
[02:48] record of support for Israel than I do.
[02:51] And let me just say this. The night
[02:52] before he died, he was preparing to
[02:54] defend the Jewish state in his final
[02:56] hours. This is why you saw rabbis weep
[02:59] for him when he died. But he did have
[03:02] this unenviable task of trying to unite
[03:04] factions of a movement, the MAGA
[03:06] movement, that's increasingly skeptical
[03:09] of Israel. So your mind probably goes
[03:12] the obvious place. What's changed? Have
[03:14] things changed? Why do things feel more
[03:16] divided? Israel is a lone Jewish state
[03:19] on earth. It's got biblical roots,
[03:21] Middle East loan democracy, its thriving
[03:23] industry, culture, whereas most of its
[03:25] neighbors have been overwhelmed by
[03:27] barbarism, Islamism, things we kind of
[03:29] all agree are not great. So the details
[03:31] of October 7th, these are not unfamiliar
[03:35] to you. Israel invaded, families burned
[03:38] alive, hostages taken.
[03:41] Maybe some of the original claims were
[03:42] exaggerated, but what's known for sure
[03:44] is certainly bad enough to merit a
[03:46] robust response.
[03:48] So things were bad enough that what
[03:51] Israel decided to do was actually take
[03:54] the war to completion. And I think this
[03:56] is one of the things that changed.
[03:59] When you see a state like Hamas that
[04:02] believes that Israel does not have a
[04:03] right to exist, then after the events of
[04:05] October 7th, it was clear to Israel that
[04:07] we cannot coexist next to this group of
[04:10] people. We can't do it anymore.
[04:13] So Netanyahu sees that he's a fighter,
[04:15] but what he's doing that's different is
[04:17] that he's trying to fight the war to
[04:18] completion. I say this, I judge it
[04:21] positively to be honest with you. I'm
[04:22] just trying to clarify what's going on.
[04:25] He's fighting a war to victory and we're
[04:27] not used to this. That's one thing
[04:28] that's changed. We're in the late stage
[04:30] of a war. We're accustomed to fighting
[04:32] wars to ceasefires. That's how Western
[04:35] countries have done it since Hiroshima.
[04:37] For some reason, we're uncomfortable
[04:39] seeing a war to victory. Maybe victory
[04:41] feels worse in some way. I don't know. I
[04:43] have I've never witnessed one. I'm just
[04:44] about to turn 40, so it's I've never
[04:46] seen us win one. So, but after October
[04:49] 7th, after the invasions, after the
[04:51] kidnapping, Israel says, "No, we're not
[04:52] going to live next to Hamas anymore.
[04:54] We're going to defeat them. Hamas wants
[04:57] Muslim control over everything, and that
[04:58] includes Israel. So, what do you how do
[05:01] you even have a ceasefire with such a
[05:02] group?"
[05:03] So the world does hate watching this
[05:07] though
[05:08] and that's why Netanyahu has become
[05:11] aware of this. He said this recently. I
[05:13] don't want stories that we have been
[05:14] beaten by our enemies for us to be
[05:16] eulogized well in the global media. I
[05:19] agree completely.
[05:22] Even Trump himself hates this. You know,
[05:23] I wrote extensively about Joe Biden. It
[05:26] was part of my research. The the
[05:28] proverbial I did the research so you
[05:29] don't have to sort of situation.
[05:32] spending a year and a half reading about
[05:33] Joe Biden. Um,
[05:36] but that October 7th, I put squarely on
[05:40] Joe Biden's feet. I do. It was his
[05:43] weakness towards Israel, the worst ally
[05:46] possible. And he staffed his
[05:48] administration with Hamas sympathizers.
[05:50] After Hamas attacked Israel, the United
[05:52] States Office for Palestinian Affairs
[05:54] under Biden called Israelis called for
[05:57] called for Israelis to refrain from
[06:00] violence and retaliatory attacks. That
[06:03] was the Biden administration's response.
[06:06] Not to mention, he abandoned those
[06:07] weapons in Afghanistan that could have
[06:09] easily ended up in the hands of Hamas.
[06:11] So Trump didn't want doesn't want
[06:12] anything to do with this. This is a mess
[06:14] that Biden made. He doesn't want to
[06:15] spend time cleaning it up. And it's
[06:17] brutal. And we're not accustomed to
[06:20] seeing all this play out on the internet
[06:22] in the graphic detail the way we are.
[06:25] So with the best the best point I can
[06:29] make here is that while Israel is on the
[06:32] front lines against Sharia supremacy
[06:35] which is coming you can see it
[06:37] throughout Europe. You guys saw this
[06:40] week that now in Dearbornne, which is in
[06:42] America, by the way, contrary to what
[06:43] might be some people might think,
[06:45] they're trying to name a street after a
[06:47] terrorist supporting newspaper publisher
[06:49] in the United States. This would be a
[06:52] five alarm five alarm fire 20 years ago
[06:54] in this country, but for now, it's just
[06:56] one line in a newspaper or on a website
[06:59] like mine.
[07:01] Charlie was aware of the Islamist
[07:03] threat. He had this tweet. I'm going to
[07:05] read it to you. It was viewed 67 million
[07:08] times on X.
[07:10] Islam is not compatible with Western
[07:12] civilization.
[07:17] 67 million. [applause]
[07:22] So what are the best arguments against
[07:24] it? In Islamic supremacist regimes,
[07:27] women are oppressed, gays are executed,
[07:30] sexual violence is the norm. Freedom is
[07:32] non-existent for most and very limited
[07:34] for everyone else. And we know what
[07:37] Charlie thought about freedom.
[07:40] What's more, Hamas is playing games with
[07:43] food aid. They're starving hostages and
[07:45] even some of their own people. Why are
[07:46] they doing this? Because it creates a
[07:48] global PR crisis for Israel. And it's
[07:51] effective
[07:53] given the media, given the global media.
[07:55] Hamas using their own people as human
[07:57] shields, storing weapons in schools,
[07:59] storing weapons in hospitals,
[08:00] effectually creating a genocide against
[08:02] their own people is asymmetric warfare
[08:06] because of the global press, because of
[08:08] the nature of energy online. They
[08:10] understand that all of it somehow
[08:12] creates pressure on Israel. It's Israel
[08:14] that drops food and leaflets to warn
[08:16] Palestinians when bombs are coming. It's
[08:18] Israel that posts evacuation maps. No
[08:21] one fights wars like this.
[08:24] They actually feed their enemies. They
[08:27] warn civilians of attacks and they will
[08:29] even treat terrorists in hospitals. You
[08:31] contrast that with October 7th and it's
[08:33] pretty clear which one's on the morally
[08:34] righteous side.
[08:37] But for me, a top argument as a
[08:39] Christian for why I support Israel and
[08:42] why I want Israel to win this war
[08:45] comes in the form of a question. I'll
[08:47] ask it to all of you. Get your reaction.
[08:49] Who would you prefer have control of the
[08:52] Holy Land, the Islamists or Israel?
