Eyewitness Accounts and Aftermath of the Utah Valley University Shooting

Showing 42 Campus Shooting videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.

The shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University generated an unusually large body of firsthand eyewitness testimony, captured across multiple independent interviews in the weeks that followed. Four strangers who had never met before September 10th, Jason Behunin, Christian Overton, Kurt Liechty, and fifteen-year-old Carter Lloyd, returned to the campus together to describe what they saw and how the experience continued to affect them. Creator LeonJakeB shared his own raw footage from the event a month later, walking through his decision to attend, register, and eventually stop recording once the shooting began.

Students including Danielle Connors and Gilbertson described the crowded, security-light outdoor setting, noting the absence of ticket verification or metal detectors at an event that drew roughly 3,000 attendees. Utah mental health officials reported a 22 percent surge in crisis line calls in the shooting's immediate aftermath, and the university offered free counseling as students returned to class one week later, to a courtyard where the university had replaced grass with brick but otherwise kept the site unchanged. Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the shooting a dark day for the state, acknowledging the difficulty of bringing people together amid what he described as escalating political hostility.
