Author Dennis Prager has argued that secular Western values, including basic notions of human dignity and objective morality, ultimately derive from Judeo-Christian religious tradition rather than existing independently of it, a case he makes in his book If There Is No God. Prager contends that once a culture abandons belief in God while still relying on values that originated in that belief, good and evil become matters of opinion rather than fixed truths.
