Brandon Tatum Walks Through New Surveillance Footage and Internet Theories on Charlie Kirk's Shooter
Brandon Tatum reviews newly surfaced surveillance footage that appears to show the suspect in Charlie Kirk's assassination walking through a residential neighborhood with what looks like a long gun concealed in his pant leg before the shooting, and then fleeing through nearby brush afterward. He argues the suspect's movements suggest a mid-level shooter with some level of skill but not elite tactical training, and walks through two unconfirmed suspects circulating online that internet users have flagged as possible matches based on appearance. Tatum plays a clip of a tense exchange between one of those candidates and Kirk over deportations and MS-13 at a past campus event, while repeatedly cautioning that none of this amounts to confirmed evidence and that he's relying on crowdsourced internet sleuthing rather than official identification.
New Surveillance Footage Shows the Suspect Before and After the Shooting
Brandon Tatum shares what he describes as breaking news in the investigation into Charlie Kirk's assassination: surveillance footage showing the suspect in a residential area shortly before the shooting.
"You can see this idiot walking down the street with what appears to be the long gun in his pant leg, which I don't understand how nobody saw him walking like this," Tatum says, noting the suspect appears to be limping slightly, which he attributes to concealing the weapon down his pant leg.
A second clip shows the suspect emerging from brush and running after the shooting. "I think that's when he threw the gun and took off running," Tatum says, pointing out a couple and another bystander nearby who may have seen him.
Brandon Tatum's Read on the Suspect's Skill Level
Based on the footage, Tatum offers his own assessment of the suspect's experience level.
"This person is not a professional person. This person is an individual that I think is a mid-level person. Not a first-time shooter, but definitely not a person that had any kind of tactical training when it comes to the elite level," Tatum says.
Internet Speculation Narrows to Two Possible Suspects
Tatum says he wants to highlight two unconfirmed candidates that internet users have circulated as possible matches for the suspect, stressing this is speculative.
"I legitimately believe the internet is probably one of the best places to do investigations, because you have millions upon millions of people all at once putting all the clues together," Tatum says. "I really want this person to get caught."
He asks viewers to comment which of the two candidates looks more like the suspect in the footage.
A Tense Exchange Between One Candidate and Charlie Kirk
For the first candidate, Tatum plays an older clip of a heated back-and-forth between the individual and Kirk at a campus event over the deportation of alleged MS-13 members, including a sharp exchange in which the audience member accuses Kirk of lying about whether a deported individual was a U.S. citizen, and Kirk accuses the audience member of being unable to debate honestly.
"See, you can just tell by his vitriolic kind of behavior. He got all flustered and got upset," Tatum says, noting the man wore a backpack and speculating, without certainty, about whether it could be connected to the suspect's gear.
Why Tatum Isn't Confident in Either Match
Turning to the second candidate, Tatum raises doubts of his own, pointing out inconsistencies between the glasses worn in different photos circulating online.
"There's no way that you're going to go be a shooter and you're blind, wearing sunglasses, not your prescriptions," Tatum says, concluding that the inconsistency between styles of glasses in the photos undermines that theory, while acknowledging, "this is only preliminary. We don't have any real hardcore evidence as to which one of these suspects could be the one."
I'm Still in Disbelief
Tatum closes by admitting he's still struggling to process Kirk's death roughly twenty-four hours after it happened.
"I'm still in disbelief, man. I think it's normal. I think in a couple months it may get a little better, but I'm still just dumbfounded and shocked that Charlie Kirk has lost his life to probably one of these weirdos that just didn't like his opinion instead of arguing with him," Tatum says, asking viewers to continue praying for Kirk's family and staff.
A T-Shirt Fundraiser for Charlie Kirk's Family
Tatum announces he's creating a t-shirt to support Kirk's family, along with a funding link, with all proceeds going directly to them rather than through a third party.
"I'm going to make a t-shirt for Charlie, and 100% of the proceeds will go to his family," Tatum says, adding that he also wants to offer job opportunities to people affected by the loss of Kirk's various shows and platforms.
