The Incident at Green Eggs Cafe
Charlie Kirk, founder and president of Turning Point USA, and Candace Owens were attacked by an Antifa mob during a breakfast meeting at Green Eggs Cafe in City Center Philadelphia. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on a Monday morning when the two conservative activists were discussing Turning Point USA business matters.
About thirty minutes into their breakfast, Kirk and Owens noticed someone inside the restaurant wearing Antifa gear. Shortly after, a mob began forming outside. The people inside had alerted others, sending out what Kirk described as "some sort of a bat signal" to summon protesters to the location.
A Well-Organized Mobilization
The speed and coordination of the mob's assembly raised serious concerns about the nature of these protests. Kirk noted that the protesters descended very quickly, indicating this was a well-funded effort. The fact that this occurred at 8:00 a.m. on a Monday morning suggested to Kirk that "this is likely that this is their job."
The protesters came equipped with whistles and bullhorns, which they used to harass Kirk, Owens, and the police officers protecting them. Kirk described it as "quite terrifying how quickly they were able to assemble that group."
Disturbing Racial Dynamics
Owens drew parallels between the incident and the civil rights era, noting the disturbing racial dynamics at play. The entire police force protecting them was black, with only one white police officer present. Meanwhile, the Antifa group was entirely white, yet they screamed at Kirk and Owens, calling them "race traitors" and telling the police officers that they were racist.
"All of his male white supremacy and I was a white supremacist and they said you're a race traitor," Owens recounted. She questioned whose race they were supposedly betraying, suggesting it was "white liberals" who were upset that she and Kirk refused to "subscribe to political orthodoxy."
Owens found the scene particularly jarring: "It was jarring to me to see this the illustration of black men standing peacefully these peace officers were black and they were standing peacefully silently as they were being shouted at by white liberals."
Standing Ground and Police Support
Despite the intimidating situation, Kirk and Owens initially decided to stand their ground. Kirk turned to Owens and said, "Let's stand our ground for a couple minutes here and just kind of see what this is all about."
The situation escalated as protesters began throwing water and eggs at Kirk. Throughout the ordeal, neither Kirk nor Owens retaliated. Kirk emphasized, "We did not retaliate we never will that's not the right way to handle situations like this."
Owens felt compelled to defend the police officers who were being harassed while protecting them. She began yelling, "We love the police," feeling it was "a necessity to defend them and say we love you guys we love the purse thank you for protecting."
Maxine Waters and Political Incitement
Kirk and Owens connected the incident to recent rhetoric from Democratic politicians, particularly Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who had publicly encouraged confrontation with Trump administration officials. They argued that protesters were "following orders exactly what she said" and that Democrats want conservatives to "apologize or back away from our support of the President."
Kirk stated, "They are so frustrated that this president's succeeding and they cannot reconcile with the fact that he's going to be the greatest president in modern American history and that the economy is booming and you see them losing their mind and they're resorting to these mob thuggish tactics."
Media Double Standards
Both Kirk and Owens highlighted what they perceived as a double standard in media coverage. They questioned what the reaction would be if the roles were reversed—if people wearing Trump hats had harassed black people at a restaurant.
"Imagine if people in Trump hats were yelling at a young black woman screaming at her because of her political affiliation imagine what the stories would be," Owens said. "It would be wall-to-wall coverage and we would never hear the end of it but somehow it's okay."
Owens pointed out the legal argument being made: "The argument that we're hearing is that it's not illegal to discriminate based off of political affiliation do you guys actually need a piece of legislation to tell you that this is wrong to tell you that harassing people based on who they support politically is wrong?"
Pattern of Violence Against Conservatives
The incident was placed in the context of other recent attacks on conservatives, including:
- Kirstjen Nielsen being harassed during dinner
- Sarah Huckabee Sanders being asked to leave a restaurant
- Stephen Miller facing protesters outside his apartment
- Steve Scalise still recovering from being shot while practicing for the Republican softball game
- Rand Paul being attacked by his neighbor in what many considered a political hate crime
Kirk noted the silence from Democratic leadership: "Where are the Democrats denouncing this silence?"
The Message and Moving Forward
Despite the harassment, both Kirk and Owens remained defiant and optimistic about their message resonating with Americans. Owens specifically addressed the effectiveness of her outreach to the black community.
"I've been tremendously effective I've been showing the truth I've been telling the truth I've been telling them about real black history and showing that it was never the Republicans that were racist in this country it was always the Democrats," Owens stated. "The Democrats were behind the terrorism in the KKK the Democrats are behind and teeth on the Terrorism that is happening to me."
Kirk referenced polling data showing that black support for Donald Trump had doubled since the previous year, suggesting that "people are started to recognize the left the Democrats they are the party of hate."
Security Concerns
When asked about security measures going forward, Kirk confirmed they were "obviously looking very closely at that." He reflected on the sad state of affairs: "That's a sad day in America that two 20-somethings can eat quietly at a cafe and we're harassed for our support of the president conservative values."
However, both remained committed to their mission. Kirk concluded, "We're not gonna back down we're just getting started."
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the increasingly hostile environment facing conservatives in public spaces and raises serious questions about political tolerance, free speech, and the safety of those expressing conservative viewpoints in America.

[00:12] Wow
[00:14] conservatives under attack you have
[00:15] Candace owns you watching in the air
[00:17] yesterday and Charlie Kirk they'll both
[00:19] ambush because they were having
[00:21] breakfast in Philadelphia that's it
[00:23] Akeno so as communications director of
[00:25] turning-point USA and Charlie Kirk
[00:26] founder and president of Turning Point
[00:28] USA to tell us about what happened
[00:30] yesterday about this time at a
[00:32] restaurant in City Center Philly called
[00:35] green eggs cafe so you're you're there
[00:37] because you're gonna have a meeting
[00:38] together to talk to your graphics game
[00:40] and whatnot and you live in Philly and
[00:43] then one of you realized hey look over
[00:45] there somebody's wearing antifa gear
[00:48] mm-hmm yeah that's exactly right and so
[00:50] we kind of progressed through breakfast
[00:52] having fun you know just going through
[00:54] you know Turning Point USA related you
[00:57] know business items and then we look out
[00:58] the window about thirty minutes later
[01:00] and a mob starts to form so the people
[01:02] inside had alerted people outside
[01:05] they're in here they sent out some sort
[01:07] of a bat signal which said we have found
[01:09] the Conservatives come and harass them
[01:11] and that's exactly what they did they
[01:13] descended very quickly they mobilized it
[01:15] lets us know that this is this is a
[01:16] well-funded effort this was at 8:00 a.m.
[01:19] Monday morning which means it's likely
[01:21] that this is their job and it was quite
[01:24] terrifying how quickly they were able to
[01:26] assemble that group and whistle didn't
[01:28] they that's right they're bullying
[01:29] whistles bullhorns that's close to my
[01:31] face in my ear and this like I mean it
[01:34] felt to me reminiscent of the civil
[01:36] rights era because the entire police
[01:37] force is black
[01:38] there was only one white police officer
[01:40] the entire and Tifa group is white and
[01:42] they were screaming at us calling us
[01:44] race traitors telling the police
[01:46] officers that they were racist all of
[01:48] his male white supremacy and I was a
[01:50] white supremacist and they said you're a
[01:51] race traitor whose race are we betraying
[01:54] white liberals is that who we've
[01:55] betrayed because we don't think like
[01:57] them because refused to subscribe to
[01:58] political orthodoxy are you nervous
[02:01] did you what did you fear for your
[02:02] safety well look we were shocked and you
[02:05] know Candace and I I turn to Candace I
[02:06] said look let's stand our ground for a
[02:08] couple minutes here and just kind of see
[02:10] what this is all about
[02:12] and the police had an unbelievable job
[02:13] and we really have to what they go
[02:15] through and the harassment here's these
[02:17] you know these protesters and that's
[02:18] probably a generous word to describe
[02:20] them harassing them the police non-stop
[02:23] and we just kind of stood there next
[02:24] thing I know I'm having water thrown at
[02:26] me eggs thrown at me we did not
[02:28] retaliate we never will
[02:29] that's not the right way to handle
[02:30] situations like this and look we don't
[02:32] want to play the victim card that's a
[02:33] very important thing but we do want to
[02:35] warn the American people that this is
[02:36] the new face the Democrat Party and
[02:38] Candis you actually were yelling you
[02:40] were yelling
[02:41] we love the police it was it was jarring
[02:44] to me to see this the illustration of
[02:46] black men standing peacefully these
[02:48] peace officers were black and they were
[02:49] standing peacefully silently as they
[02:52] were being shouted at by white liberals
[02:54] so it really I felt like a necessity to
[02:57] defend them and say we love you guys we
[02:59] love the purse thank you for protecting
[03:00] they don't love the police but you know
[03:02] what they might have been following
[03:04] orders a go sign was given directly and
[03:07] loudly by Maxine Waters a few weeks ago
[03:10] remember this
[03:14] [Music]
[03:17] [Applause]
[03:24] [Applause]
[03:29] they're doing what she said am i right
[03:32] they're following orders exactly what
[03:33] she said and look they want us to
[03:35] apologize our back away from our support
[03:38] of the President
[03:38] they are so frustrated that this
[03:40] president's succeeding and they cannot
[03:41] reconcile with the fact that he's going
[03:43] to be the greatest president in modern
[03:45] American history and that the economy is
[03:46] booming and you see them losing their
[03:48] mind and they're resorting to these mob
[03:50] thuggish tactics let me ask you
[03:51] something
[03:52] what would what would the news coverage
[03:54] be like today if a couple of people in
[03:59] Trump hats make America great again hats
[04:01] were hooting yelling at people inside a
[04:05] restaurant drove them out and then dump
[04:07] water on black people imagine if people
[04:09] in Trump hats were yelling at a young
[04:10] black woman screaming at her because of
[04:13] her political affiliation imagine what
[04:15] the stories would be it would be
[04:16] wall-to-wall coverage and we would never
[04:18] hear the end of it but somehow it's okay
[04:19] and the argument that we're hearing is
[04:21] that it's not illegal to discriminate
[04:22] based off of political affiliation do
[04:24] you guys actually need a piece of
[04:26] legislation to tell you that this is
[04:28] wrong to tell you that harassing people
[04:29] based on who they support politically is
[04:31] wrong then that's where we're at in this
[04:33] country we have to start considering
[04:34] rights for conservative thinkers but the
[04:36] thing is look at Kristen Kersten Nielsen
[04:38] having dinner looking terribly Sarah
[04:41] Huckabee Sanders having dinner Stephen
[04:44] Miller they're outside protesting at his
[04:46] apartment this is getting closer and
[04:48] closer to going really bad Steve Scalise
[04:51] still recovering from injuries after
[04:53] being shot because he happened to be
[04:55] playing second base
[04:56] practicing for on his Republican
[04:58] softball and Rand Paul was mauled by his
[05:00] neighbor political hate crime one after
[05:03] the other and we as conservatives we
[05:06] reject the victim status instead let's
[05:08] be victors and show up in huge force in
[05:11] November and not allow these radicals to
[05:14] regain control of Congress because where
[05:15] are the Democrats denouncing this
[05:17] silence I wonder how did they know y'all
[05:19] were in that restaurant and what how did
[05:20] they get such a big group so quickly
[05:23] they had four people that were eating
[05:25] tables down for us with an Tifa decals
[05:27] on their bag that recognized us
[05:28] instantly we thought okay they recognize
[05:30] us no big deal we didn't think they were
[05:31] going to send out a signal to tell
[05:32] people to come harass us I do want to
[05:34] say this it doesn't matter what they do
[05:36] if they harass us in the streets this is
[05:39] going to change the effects of this
[05:40] administration I've said this before
[05:41] many times on this couch
[05:43] we saw the Rasmussen poll this last week
[05:45] blacks report support for Donald Trump
[05:47] has doubled since this time last year
[05:50] the reason is because people are started
[05:51] to recognize the left the Democrats they
[05:53] are the party of hate and there's
[05:54] something about you articulating your
[05:56] message as a young african-american
[05:59] woman that really scares the left
[06:01] I've been tremendously effective I've
[06:03] been showing the truth I've been telling
[06:04] the truth I've been telling them about
[06:06] real black history and showing that it
[06:07] was never the Republicans that were
[06:09] racist in this country it was always the
[06:11] Democrats the Democrats were behind the
[06:13] terrorism in the KKK the Democrats are
[06:15] behind and teeth on the Terrorism that
[06:16] is happening to me what y'all can't have
[06:18] breakfast to a piece so y'all stay safe
[06:20] have you thought about security now yes
[06:22] yes it's something we're obviously
[06:23] looking very closely at that's a sad day
[06:25] in America that two 20-somethings can
[06:27] eat quietly at a cafe and we're harassed
[06:29] for our support of the president
[06:30] conservative values but we're not gonna
[06:32] back down we're just getting started
[06:33] can't have a plate of eggs and toast
[06:35] that is a searing indictment of the
[06:38] political atmosphere right now Charlie
[06:40] and Candice thank you very much enjoy
[06:41] this
