The Strategy of Elite Capture
Charlie Kirk dedicates an hour to discussing Peter Schweizer's book Red Handed, which documents how the Chinese Communist Party has systematically infiltrated American institutions. Schweizer frames his role as similar to Paul Revere—not fighting the battle himself, but sounding the alarm so Americans can gather and respond. The Chinese threat is not coming, Schweizer warns; it has already arrived and penetrated every sector of American society through a deliberate military strategy of elite capture.
LeBron James and the China Connection
Schweizer highlights LeBron James as a prime example of elite capture. While James speaks out loudly on domestic issues, he has consistently protected Chinese interests. When the Houston Rockets general manager tweeted support for Hong Kong protestors, James accused him of speaking out of ignorance. But this pattern goes back much further.
Beyond his massive Nike deal, James maintains exclusive arrangements in China including:
- A line of shoes made exclusively for Chinese elites, featuring ancient Chinese symbols
- Priority release of certain Nike shoes in China before the United States
- Distribution deals with Chinese state media companies for his films and video products
The Darfur Test
Schweizer reveals a particularly damning episode from 2007-2008 involving Darfur. The regime in South Sudan was slaughtering hundreds of thousands of Black Christians in the south, backed by the Chinese government. A petition drive launched in the NBA called for condemning China's support of this regime. LeBron James refused to sign it. The only other Cleveland Cavaliers player who didn't sign had a shoe contract with a Chinese company.
This incident, Schweizer argues, demonstrates that for James, these Black lives did not matter when weighed against his Chinese business interests. It fundamentally damages his credibility and shows this has been his pattern for years—the money matters more than the positions he claims to support.
Pathways to Justice
When asked about holding these elites accountable, Schweizer refuses to give up hope. He outlines several concrete actions Americans can take:
- Contact elected officials and make clear you care about Chinese influence—public pressure matters
- Practice shareholder activism by buying a few shares of companies like Google, attending shareholder meetings, and publicly questioning executives about their China statements and relationships
- Use shame as a tool by exposing these relationships publicly
- Advocate for the policy recommendations outlined in Red Handed
- Exercise commercial power by boycotting products from companies engaging in these behaviors and refusing to buy from Chinese companies like Huawei that actively work to undermine the United States
A Modern Paul Revere
While Schweizer modestly declines the comparison, Kirk insists he is performing an equivalent moral service to Paul Revere. The book represents thorough research documenting how every vertical of American culture, finance, and business has been corrupted by the Chinese Communist Party. This is not accidental—it is a deliberate military strategy designed to pick off one by one the people who could potentially stop China's rise to global power.
Kirk frames the Chinese Communist Party as an enemy of the United States engaged in systematic elite capture. Schweizer's work exposes this strategy and provides Americans with the information they need to fight back. The British are not coming—they are already here, and it will take an informed and mobilized American public to push them back.

[00:04] hey everybody welcome back red handed by
[00:05] peter schweitzer okay peter i want to go
[00:07] over two topics in the five minutes we
[00:09] have remaining number one i want you to
[00:10] talk about any one of the other elites
[00:12] and then finally i wanted just you to
[00:14] hit what can be done here how can we
[00:16] bring justice to all this because this
[00:17] stuff is so obviously either illegal and
[00:20] definitely immoral
[00:22] yeah i mean i guess i would say uh let's
[00:24] talk about lebron james a little bit um
[00:27] obviously he's very outspoken on a lot
[00:29] of issues um
[00:30] i think says a lot of outrageous things
[00:33] about the country and and whatnot um but
[00:36] he has a long history of cow towing to
[00:38] china people are obviously familiar with
[00:40] the case a couple years ago uh in the
[00:42] nba where the houston rockets general
[00:44] manager tweeted something out about hong
[00:47] kong and lebron james said oh you know
[00:49] he's speaking out of ignorance uh the
[00:51] fact of the matter is lebron james has
[00:53] been doing this for years and he does it
[00:56] because in addition to his massive deal
[00:58] with nike uh he has deals in china he
[01:01] has a line of shoes that are made only
[01:03] for the chinese elite uh these have you
[01:06] know ancient chinese symbols on them uh
[01:09] they're very coveted by the chinese
[01:11] elite uh some of the nike shoes that are
[01:13] released in the united states get
[01:15] released in china first um he has deals
[01:19] with chinese state media companies for
[01:21] the distribution of of his films and
[01:24] other video products in china so these
[01:26] are very deep ties and it's been that
[01:28] way for a long time uh you might be too
[01:31] young to remember um darfur back in 2007
[01:35] and 2008 uh but this was a terrible
[01:38] situation where the regime in south
[01:40] sudan was slaughtering hundreds of
[01:42] thousands of black christians in the
[01:44] south that regime was backed by the
[01:47] chinese government
[01:49] and there was a petition drive launched
[01:52] in the nba to condemn china for
[01:54] supporting this regime this kind of
[01:57] arabic regime that was slaughtering
[01:59] black christians in the south uh a lot
[02:02] of people in the nba signed it lebron
[02:04] james refused to sign the petition the
[02:07] only other person on the cleveland
[02:09] cavaliers that didn't sign it was a guy
[02:11] in the back bench who had a shoe
[02:12] contract with a chinese company so to me
[02:15] that speaks volumes and it indicates
[02:18] that you know in this particular case
[02:20] certainly to lebron james these black
[02:22] lives did not matter and i think it
[02:24] really damages his credibility uh
[02:27] because he's been this way for a long
[02:29] time and i don't think it's going to
[02:31] change the money is more important to
[02:33] him than the positions he
[02:35] claims to stands for no doubt what can
[02:38] be done to hold these people to account
[02:39] let's just say let's just take the
[02:40] bidens we're getting so many emails
[02:42] peter hundreds thousands of emails
[02:44] where's the justice where's the fbi
[02:46] where is this is there any hope for
[02:47] justice
[02:49] yeah i think there is um you know look
[02:51] i'm not going to give up on this until
[02:52] the american people give up on it um and
[02:55] i kind of imbued my role in this
[02:57] organization that i run's role to be
[02:59] kind of a paul revere for america
[03:02] certainly not comparing myself to paul
[03:03] revere but our our job is to sort of
[03:06] spread the word and to let people know
[03:08] that in effect the british are coming uh
[03:11] and now it's up to the american people
[03:13] to gather the continental army and fight
[03:15] for it so one of the things you
[03:17] mentioned earlier we have to alert our
[03:19] elected officials and tell them we care
[03:21] about this stuff that's absolutely vital
[03:24] the second thing i would say is you know
[03:26] these companies these big tech companies
[03:29] they have shareholder meetings buy a
[03:31] couple shares of stock of google and go
[03:33] to the shareholder meetings and read
[03:35] some quotes from the book
[03:37] of what these executives say about china
[03:39] and ask them to explain it publicly
[03:42] i think shame is still a very powerful
[03:45] tool that can be used
[03:46] and then finally in the last part of the
[03:48] book i certainly have some things i
[03:50] recommend our policy makers in
[03:52] washington should do advocate for those
[03:54] push for those it can make a difference
[03:57] and finally
[03:58] exercise your um commercial votes
[04:02] don't buy the products of companies that
[04:04] are engaging in these damaging behaviors
[04:07] and certainly don't buy products from uh
[04:09] chinese companies like huawei uh that
[04:12] are trying to undermine the united
[04:13] states
[04:15] well you won't compare yourself to paul
[04:17] revere but i will you're doing an
[04:18] equivalent moral good to what paul
[04:20] revere did truly uh because the chinese
[04:23] are here they're not just coming they've
[04:24] infiltrated every single part of
[04:26] american society we talk about china
[04:28] quite often here on this program but
[04:31] just to be able to have a piece of
[04:32] literature research is what this really
[04:34] is that goes through an incredibly
[04:37] thorough
[04:38] manner citing how every vertical of
[04:41] american culture and finance and
[04:42] business has been corrupted by the
[04:44] chinese communist party it is no mistake
[04:47] it is a strategy it's a military
[04:48] strategy elite capture whatever you want
[04:50] to call it of what i believe is an enemy
[04:52] of the united states the chinese
[04:53] communist party that is one by one
[04:56] trying to pick off people that could
[04:58] potentially stop their rise to global
[05:00] power and peter you've exposed that and
[05:02] it's a great moral good and takes a lot
[05:04] of courage thank you red handed by peter
