Charlie Kirk Breaks Down RFK Jr's Historic Trump Endorsement and What MAGA Really Means

Charlie Kirk unpacks one of the most significant political moments of the 2024 election cycle: Robert F. Kennedy Jr's endorsement of Donald Trump at a Turning Point Action event in Phoenix. Kirk reads RFK's viral post explaining what MAGA truly means, a restoration of American vitality, prosperity, and health, while detailing how a Kennedy, raised in the heart of Democratic royalty, became a defector from his own party. This wasn't just another political endorsement; it was a game-changing unity moment that overshadowed the Democratic National Convention and put the establishment on defense.

RFK Jr Explains What MAGA Really Means

Charlie Kirk opens by reading Robert F. Kennedy Jr's viral post that took social media by storm, explaining the true meaning behind Make America Great Again. RFK writes that while liberals view the phrase as a call to return to an era before civil rights, gay rights, and women's rights, he has a more generous interpretation—one that reflects his experience with Donald Trump.

Kirk notes his disagreement with RFK's framing, emphasizing that he doesn't believe in different groups getting different rights. "I don't think there's gay rights, there are human rights," Kirk clarifies. But he welcomes RFK aboard, emphasizing that their movement is about multiplication and addition, not division and subtraction.

RFK's post continues with his vision of what MAGA represents: "Make America great again recalls a nation brimming with vitality, with a can-do spirit, with hope and a belief in itself. It was an America that was beginning to confront its darker shadows, could acknowledge the injustice in its past and present, yet at the same time could celebrate its successes."

The post describes an America of broad prosperity, the world's most vibrant middle class, a nation that led the world in innovation, productivity, and technology—and crucially, the healthiest country in the world. "Now we are one of the sickest countries in the world," RFK laments.

RFK concludes by explaining that after talking to many Trump supporters, his inner circle, and the man himself, "this is the America they want to restore." Kirk wholeheartedly agrees: "That's exactly what RFK believes in, that's what we believe in—a restoration of a great country, a restoration of the greatest nation ever to exist in the history of the world."

The Historic Phoenix Event

Kirk describes the Turning Point Action event in Phoenix on Friday as being in a league of its own. While Turning Point has hosted President Trump over 15 times in the last couple of years, this event was different. The Trump campaign reached out asking Turning Point to partner on the event and handle the pre-program and crowd building.

In the days leading up to the event, headlines began circulating that RFK was doing a press conference in Phoenix and that Trump was also coming to Phoenix. People began speculating about a possible merging of forces.

Kirk reveals he wasn't read into any behind-the-scenes details. The Trump campaign played it close to the chest, creating a separate entrance for RFK that kept him out of sight until the crucial moment. Kirk only received about 20 minutes notice before it happened.

"What happened on Friday was a complete game changer," Kirk emphasizes. "A game changer that outshined the DNC this weekend." Instead of talking about how wonderful Chicago was or Kamala Harris's speech, media networks emphasized how RFK—a Kennedy namesake—had endorsed Donald Trump for president.

The event drew well over 17,000 people with thousands more in overflow. Kirk describes it as one of the most successful events in recent memory, with many agreeing it was exceptionally well-produced.

Who Is Robert F. Kennedy Jr?

Kirk provides context on RFK Jr's background and journey. RFK is the son of Bobby Kennedy, who was the brother of JFK and served as Attorney General under JFK before becoming a senator from New York. Bobby Kennedy ran for president after his brother's assassination but was himself shot in the back of a kitchen by Sirhan Sirhan.

RFK Jr, having lost both his father and uncle to political assassinations, became a lawyer and environmentalist. Kirk clarifies that RFK isn't a "worship the Earth environmentalist," though he has said some things Kirk doesn't agree with. Rather, RFK loves nature and God's creation.

As a lawyer, RFK sued major corporations he believed were polluting the environment. This work led him to discover the chronic childhood disease epidemic in America—autism rates climbing from one in a couple thousand kids to 1 in 23 in California.

For about a decade, Kirk notes, RFK was considered on the fringes of American political discourse, even though Kirk didn't view him that way. Many considered him persona non grata.

RFK's COVID Era Resurgence

During COVID, RFK saw a resurgence. He wrote "The Truth About Anthony Fauci," which Kirk calls "the definitive book" that "is wonderful." The book exposes Anthony Fauci and the pharmaceutical industrial complex, revealing how the CDC, FDA, and other government agencies work together to support the corporate healthcare oligarchy.

During COVID, RFK was actively censored. The CDC and FDA went to Facebook instructing them to censor RFK because he was "speaking out too much" and "saying things that we don't like."

The Democrat Party Exile

RFK decided to run for president, first as a Democrat to challenge Joe Biden. "A Kennedy against Joe Biden, why not?" Kirk observes. But the Democrat Party, according to Kirk, "acted like a mafia, they did not act like a political party that was concerned about democracy."

The Democrats didn't allow RFK to debate, gave him no airtime on media, wouldn't allow him on the ballot, and sued to keep him out. They essentially exiled him, saying they didn't want him as part of the Democrat Party.

Seeing that the Democrat Party was no longer the party of democracy, RFK declared his independence and ran as an independent candidate. Despite the difficulty of getting on the ballot and gaining media coverage as an independent, RFK did a very good job through over-the-top interviews and podcasting. He even did a podcast with Turning Point about eight months prior that Kirk describes as "a very nice conversation."

The Strategic Shift

Initially, RFK was taking votes from both Trump and Biden. But once Kamala Harris became the nominee, RFK was "definitely taking more from Donald Trump than from Kamala Harris."

Kirk explains that RFK represents someone skeptical of current power structures—big banks, big corporations, big government, the CIA, FBI, Department of Justice, lawfare, the war machine, and the censorship apparatus.

The choice became clear: Kamala Harris represents a "high trust of institutions candidate" who believes institutions are wonderful and should be worshiped, given more support, more money, and more power. Donald Trump, conversely, is "an insurgent" who "represents the people, we the people, to take back our government." Trump challenges the ruling class and understands that citizen-led government will reclaim the nation.

Common Ground and Shared Enemies

Kirk acknowledges that RFK and Trump disagree on many issues but agree on the big stuff: they want a reset of the US Constitution and recognize that citizens are being squeezed by current power centers. Importantly, they have the same enemies.

Bobby Kennedy looks favorably on Trump as someone who survived an assassination attempt—something his uncle and father did not survive.

RFK is also "a Democrat scorned." Despite being from the Kennedy family of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts—the Camelot Castle—he's become a defector from Camelot.

Kirk identifies another crucial commonality: "They are class traitors. They both were amongst the high society—the Kennedys, the Trumps, the billionaires—and they decided to defect from the lifestyle, the comfort of said ruling class, and go fight for the American people."

The Game-Changing Announcement

RFK made his courageous announcement on Friday, culminating at the Turning Point event. He pledged to take himself off the ballot in key battleground states and to actively campaign for Donald Trump.

Kirk describes the moment as creating "the unity party against the uni party." The image of Donald Trump and RFK Jr on stage together represented a historic political realignment.

Kirk emphasizes this was more than just another event: "You do event, you do event, you do event, but to actually have a third-party candidate endorse Donald Trump on stage—a Kennedy, mind you, a Kennedy—endorse Donald Trump? Game changer."

Make America Healthy Again

Kirk highlights RFK's core mission: Make America Healthy Again (MAHA)—tackling the chronic disease epidemic, restoring the health of the country, ensuring Americans eat better and are no longer poisoned by big agriculture and big food companies.

Kirk points to a stark statistic: 50% of all children in America are obese compared to just 3% in Japan. "50 versus 3. Why is that? Something is happening in our food supply," Kirk states.

Playing audio from RFK's speech, Kennedy declares: "I feel a moral obligation to use this opportunity to save millions of American children. Above all things, in case some of you don't realize how dire the condition is of our children's health and chronic disease in general, I would urge you to view Dr. Carlson's recent interview with Calley Means and his sister Dr. Casey Means, who is the top graduate of her class at Stanford Medical School. This is an issue that affects all of us far more directly and urgently than any culture war issue and all the other issues that we obsess on and that are tearing apart our country. This is the most important issue."

Harris Refused to Meet

RFK reveals a crucial detail: "Following my first discussion with President Trump, I tried unsuccessfully to open similar discussions with Vice President Harris. Vice President Harris declined to meet or even to speak with me."

Kirk emphasizes this point: "Vice President Harris declined to meet or to even speak with RFK about making America healthy again."

A Crusader for Free Speech and Health

Kirk concludes by emphasizing that RFK is a crusader not just for restoring the health of the country but also for ensuring Americans can speak freely. "RFK is putting team blue on defense, and what better person than a Kennedy who was running around the Oval Office as a kid, literally in his uncle's Oval Office—Bobby Jr, the namesake of Bobby Kennedy—saying the Democrat party is against the American people."

Kirk acknowledges he doesn't agree with everything RFK believes in, "but you have to give him credit for his courage, his patriotism, to go up against the machine of the Democrat Party that he was raised in, saying that this party is an existential threat to the country—which it is."
