Tom Brady Shines in Broadcasting Debut

The Super Bowl drew over 100 million viewers, and Charlie Kirk had plenty to say about the broadcast production. He found the scoreboard graphics disappointingly simple, looking like they were made in clip art rather than the elaborate designs viewers have come to expect. However, Kirk gave Tom Brady a perfect ten for his color commentary debut, saying Brady performed even better than Tony Romo, who typically receives mixed reactions from audiences.

Kirk acknowledged that doing live color commentary without much experience is challenging, and Brady clearly excelled at it. The legendary quarterback seemed to be having genuine fun in the booth, perhaps enjoying watching Patrick Mahomes compete while no longer carrying the pressure of being on the field himself. Brady channeled his extensive Super Bowl experience to provide insightful analysis throughout the game.

Taylor Swift Booed While Trump Gets Applause

One of the most talked-about moments came when Taylor Swift appeared on the Jumbotron and received boos from the crowd. Kirk called this moment well-deserved, noting that Swift endorsed Joe Biden and went after MAGA supporters. The pop star appeared genuinely confused by the negative reception, seemingly never having experienced being booed before.

In stark contrast, President Trump received roaring applause when shown during the broadcast. Kirk highlighted this as representing a significant cultural shift in America. The juxtaposition of these two moments, with Trump getting cheered and Swift getting booed, illustrated changing public sentiment and political dynamics.

Underwhelming and Less Woke Commercials

Kirk found the Super Bowl commercials largely disappointing this year, describing them as bland and lacking the creativity and boundary-pushing content that typically characterizes Super Bowl advertising. The best commercial, in his opinion, was the food conspiracy ad featuring Matthew McConaughey and references to the Chicago Bears. The humorous spot suggested that football itself was created as a conspiracy to make people hungry and sell food products.

While the advertisements were more pro-American and pro-family than in previous years, with less overt woke messaging, Kirk noted they still lacked spark. He observed that American culture is in the process of exercising woke ideology but hasn't completely expelled it yet. The vibe shift is clear, but there's still work to be done. Kirk also pointed out that many ads were released before the Super Bowl, removing the excitement of seeing them for the first time during the game, though he acknowledged this is probably smart marketing since it generates extra views.

A Nike advertisement about women being told they can't succeed drew attention, featuring messages like "you can't be confident so be confident" and "you can't win so win." This represented the type of corporate messaging that still lingers even as the broader cultural tide shifts.

Celebrating Jalen Hurts' Incredible Journey

While Kirk admitted he isn't exactly an Eagles fan and joked about Philadelphia being burnt to a crisp with a need for FEMA assistance after the celebration, he expressed genuine happiness for Jalen Hurts. Kirk has followed Hurts' career for years, dating back to 2018 when Hurts was benched during the middle of the National Championship game in favor of Tua Tagovailoa.

After that devastating moment, Hurts had to transfer to Oklahoma, where many people doubted him. But Hurts never gave up and fought for every opportunity. Now he's a Super Bowl MVP and Super Bowl champion, achievements that can never be taken away from him. Kirk celebrated this underdog story as one of the highlights of the game.

Despite being thrilled to see the Kansas City Chiefs lose, Kirk noted he likes Patrick Mahomes and has gotten to know Harrison Butker. However, the Eagles' victory provided a satisfying conclusion to a Super Bowl that, while somewhat anticlimactic overall, still delivered memorable moments that reflect where American culture stands today.
