[00:00] This is such a special video of Charlie
[00:02] Kirk explaining why he kept the Sabbath,
[00:05] the Jewish Sabbath on Saturday, Shabbat
[00:08] as he called it. In fact, his last words
[00:10] on a text to me just a few weeks ago
[00:12] were Shabbat Shalom. He turned off his
[00:14] phone from Friday night till actually
[00:16] Sunday morning. Um, and here he is
[00:18] talking about why he believed in it so
[00:20] much. Incredible uh discussion. Have a
[00:23] watch of it. I'll give you my thoughts
[00:24] on the other side. So, Charlie Kirk,
[00:27] little bit of your background, religious
[00:29] background.
[00:30] >> Yeah, so honor honor to be here and
[00:32] thank you. The Sabbath is one of my
[00:34] favorite topics to talk about, honestly,
[00:36] cuz I'm so sick of talking about
[00:38] politics all day long. It's all I do.
[00:39] So, it drives me crazy. This is actually
[00:42] way more important than that. And I
[00:44] could tie the two together if necessary,
[00:46] but we don't have to. Uh, it's more
[00:49] important than that. I I grew up in a
[00:50] Presbyterian background. I then uh we
[00:53] left that church. We went to what could
[00:55] be best called as a bibleelving
[00:57] evangelical church. So not quite
[01:00] Calvinist, not Pentecostal, somewhere in
[01:03] the middle. Look, we we believe many of
[01:06] the same stuff, guys. I believe in the
[01:07] inherency of scripture. I believe you
[01:09] need Jesus Christ. I believe in grace,
[01:11] not works. I believe that there is
[01:13] heaven awaiting us. I believe in an
[01:14] afterlife. I believe in a God that
[01:16] created the heavens and the earth.
[01:18] However, I grew up in a church
[01:19] environment that at the very best would
[01:23] deemphasize the Shabbat, at the very
[01:25] worst say that the Sabbath doesn't
[01:27] really matter. The Sabbath is in your
[01:29] heart. You don't need to observe it.
[01:30] >> Yeah.
[01:31] >> And
[01:33] the the story is quite long. I'm
[01:35] actually writing my next book on the
[01:37] Sabbath. It's called Stop in the Name of
[01:39] God. Uh because Shabbat means stop or
[01:42] Ceasing. So, I'm not here to sell you a
[01:44] book. It's not even for sale yet. It's
[01:45] just something to think about. And it's
[01:47] honestly how the the Sabbath saved my
[01:49] life and helped preserve my family and
[01:53] helped preserve my career.
[01:56] And so, two things. Number one, a pastor
[01:57] that I really care about, Pastor David
[02:00] Angelhart, he's one of our board members
[02:01] at Turning Point USA. I was exhausted.
[02:03] It was the summer of 2021. I sat down
[02:05] with him. I said, "I'm not sleeping
[02:07] well. I'm fatigued." And he asked me
[02:09] very bluntly, "Are you honoring the
[02:11] Sabbath?" And I gave him very weak
[02:13] theological arguments. honestly, oh, I'm
[02:16] not bound to that or no, I I'm not
[02:19] really interested in that. Uh, I don't
[02:22] have to do that. And he really
[02:23] challenged me and I didn't have good
[02:24] responses to be perfectly honest with
[02:26] you. And pairing that with my very good
[02:28] friend who is Jewish, who right now is
[02:31] going through a very difficult health
[02:32] trial, Dennis Prager, who I believe is
[02:34] the premier Torah teacher of this
[02:37] generation. He's amazing. He's a
[02:39] phenomenal mind. And if you don't know
[02:41] Dennis Prager on the Sabbath, you guys
[02:43] would really appreciate Dennis Prager
[02:44] because he has brought the teachings of
[02:46] the Sabbath to more millions of people
[02:48] than almost anybody alive. And I hope to
[02:50] carry that tradition. And he would
[02:52] always talk about the Shabbat, always
[02:54] talking about the Sabbath. And I found
[02:56] myself after a couple years of hearing
[02:58] this getting really jealous of him,
[03:01] being like, "Wait a second. You're able
[03:02] to just unplug for one day and not work
[03:05] and be with friends and family and
[03:07] worship God? I want that." And and I
[03:11] would start to get really jealous in the
[03:12] worst possible way. And then I realized
[03:15] it's not something you go and purchase
[03:17] at the store. It's not something that
[03:20] you have to take out a loan for. It's
[03:22] simply the prioritization
[03:24] of the question of who's in charge. It's
[03:27] that simple. And if you believe God is
[03:30] in charge, and if you believe Genesis
[03:31] 1:1, because the Shabbat is a question
[03:34] of whether or not you believe Genesis
[03:35] 1:1, and if you believe Genesis 1:1,
[03:38] then you honor the Sabbath. If you have
[03:40] questions about Genesis 1:1, in the
[03:42] beginning, God created the heavens and
[03:43] the earth, which is beheit, right? Is
[03:44] the first um truth claim of the
[03:47] scriptures, then on the seventh day, you
[03:49] rest because God created the heavens and
[03:52] the earth. It is the longest standing
[03:53] celebration of time of the creation of
[03:56] the heavens and the earth. And so that
[04:00] realization changed my life. I could
[04:02] talk about this from many different
[04:04] dimensions. What it's meant for me
[04:05] personally, what what it means on the
[04:07] macro. I also go to churches across the
[04:10] country. I speak at hundreds of churches
[04:13] of all different denominations.
[04:15] And I will challenge the Christian
[04:18] church cuz I believe this is the most
[04:20] ignored commandment of the decalogue to
[04:24] our own detriment.
[04:26] And I will go a step further and then
[04:27] I'll stop talking cuz I know we have a
[04:29] whole program. No,
[04:30] >> it's fine. uh which is that I believe
[04:32] that honoring the Sabbath is the
[04:35] commandment that allows you to honor the
[04:38] other nine commandments.
[04:40] >> And that the enemy has gone after the
[04:42] honoring the Sabbath because then it is
[04:44] easier to weaken the other nine.
[04:46] >> And I'll prove it to you. If you're
[04:48] honoring the Sabbath, it's
[04:50] definitionally easier to honor your
[04:52] mother and father because you're not
[04:54] working that day and you're with family.
[04:56] If you're honoring the Sabbath, it's
[04:58] easier not to covet your neighbor's wife
[05:01] because you're not around your
[05:02] neighbor's wife. You're with your family
[05:05] and you're filled with gratitude that
[05:06] day. When you're honoring the Sabbath,
[05:08] it's easier to have no other gods before
[05:10] God because that day is built in time as
[05:13] a temple, as a sanctuary to put God
[05:17] first, to not have idols, to not take
[05:19] the Lord's name in vain. The other nine
[05:21] commandments are made easier are made
[05:23] more accessible for our broken fleshly
[05:27] depraved nature if we prioritize the
[05:29] Shabbat.
[05:31] >> Amen.
[05:34] >> What I have to say when I look at this,
[05:35] I mean for Jewish people out there, you
[05:39] need to appreciate the impact that our
[05:42] Torah Judaism has had on the world. The
[05:46] fact that
[05:47] senior political figures
[05:51] in the superpower of the world today
[05:54] are talking about Shabbat,
[05:57] the fact that most of the world now
[05:58] worships the God of Abraham through
[06:00] Christianity and Islam, it all comes
[06:01] from our Torah. Certainly the ideas, the
[06:04] Ten Commandments, the foundations of
[06:05] Western democracy,
[06:07] I it's extraordinary.
[06:10] If anyone doubted that the Jewish people
[06:14] are meant to serve as the light to the
[06:16] nations
[06:18] and throughout human history to be God's
[06:21] suffering servant it is us the Jewish
[06:24] people
[06:26] who have had this role while suffering
[06:29] while being hated on whilst being
[06:31] wandering the earth we brought and
[06:33] transmitted what God wants to the world
[06:38] if you can't see the miracle here
[06:39] despite being few in number, scattered
[06:42] all over the world, intensely
[06:43] persecuted, and yet we've survived and
[06:45] transformed the world's values. It's
[06:47] it's remarkable. And then to return to
[06:48] our ancient homeland after 2,000 years
[06:50] of exile
[06:53] and every nation and empire squabbbling
[06:55] over the land and yet it remaining
[06:56] desolate for them. Come on. It's
[06:58] extraordinary. It's extraordinary.
[07:01] But you know, one of the things that I
[07:02] think Charlie Kirk mentioned and and
[07:05] said, I heard him say numerous times,
[07:07] and I think he actually got this idea
[07:08] from Dennis Prager, an observant Jew,
[07:12] who by the way, you should all pray for.
[07:13] His name is in Hebrew is
[07:16] Benhinda. Um,
[07:20] he said, I'm much much more interested
[07:23] in what, sorry, much less interested in
[07:25] what I want from God and much more in
[07:27] what God wants from me. That was
[07:30] Dennis's teaching which Charlie carried
[07:31] forward and he quoted and said many many
[07:33] times. But think about what you're
[07:35] actually saying here.
[07:40] Stop being so interested
[07:43] in what God can do for you. That
[07:45] includes salvation, heaven, being saved,
[07:49] all that kind of stuff.
[07:53] Sometimes I I wonder if even people in
[07:57] some of Charlie's camps heard these
[07:59] words so clearly. Enough with the
[08:01] emphasis on being saved.
[08:06] That's what the message of what of
[08:08] Dennis Prager's line is. Instead ask how
[08:11] can I save God's world? What can I do
[08:15] for God? How can I serve him? Not not
[08:18] how can he serve me.
[08:22] you know, all this emphasis on, well,
[08:24] you know, I'm saved by God. Okay. And
[08:26] now what? Great. You're saved. All
[08:28] right. Good for you. Well done. Pat on
[08:29] the back. You're you're sorted. Your
[08:32] insurance policy is there and in place.
[08:35] Now what? Why are we living here? What's
[08:38] the point of this world? What are we
[08:39] doing here?
[08:41] The message of the Torah, the message of
[08:44] Judaism is
[08:47] much more than you think you need God.
[08:50] God needs you. He's the one that started
[08:53] this universe. So clearly, he's invested
[08:55] in this more than you. You didn't even
[08:58] need to be here. The only reason you're
[09:00] here is because he created you. Why did
[09:03] he create you?
[09:05] Because of his need, because of his
[09:07] plan. We don't need to get to heaven.
[09:11] God created the world so he could come
[09:13] down to earth and have a relationship
[09:16] down here on earth with us. The project
[09:18] of the Torah is to serve God's will
[09:21] through his law,
[09:24] which is a perfect blend of justice and
[09:26] and compassion and mercy
[09:29] and bring God into this world to make
[09:31] this world heavenly. And we believe at
[09:33] the end of days this world will become
[09:35] the eternal heaven. We have heaven on
[09:38] earth.
[09:41] So Shabbat actually symbolizes that very
[09:46] belief.
[09:48] For six days shall you work and the
[09:50] seventh you shall rest. What's it
[09:52] saying? It's saying that this is life.
[09:55] We have to work. We have to build. We
[09:57] have to do our part to bring God into
[09:59] this world to make our stamp on this
[10:01] world because it's not about us. It's
[10:04] about our relationship with God. It's
[10:06] about serving him. And then on the
[10:07] seventh day, we enjoy that which we have
[10:09] created with our God. And you know, the
[10:13] six days of creation mirror the 6,000
[10:16] years of human history. We as Jews
[10:18] believe we're in the year 5785. We're
[10:20] about about to approach the year 5786
[10:23] because the rabbis teach us there's
[10:25] going to be 6,000 years of of work
[10:27] throughout human history. And then the
[10:28] 7,000 will be the Sabbath for the world.
[10:31] Sorry, the from the 6,000th to the 6,000
[10:34] to 7,000.
[10:37] So
[10:39] Charlie really was looking deep. He was
[10:41] a deep deep uh thinker. He was searching
[10:45] for what really matters and what's
[10:48] important. And if you hear the words
[10:50] he's saying,
[10:52] it should resonate very very deeply. A
[10:54] quick message before we finish. We have
[10:56] been lied to about the Palestinians from
[10:58] beginning till end. Have a watch of the
[11:00] trailer for our new documentary called
[11:03] The Invention of the Palestinians. how a
[11:05] nation was invented to destroy another.
[11:07] And if you want to watch the full thing,
[11:08] just click on the link in the video
[11:10] description. The Palestinians,
[11:15] we have been told they are an ancient
[11:17] people fighting for their homeland which
[11:19] has been stolen from them.
[11:23] This narrative has fueled decades of
[11:25] conflict, painting Israel as an occupier
[11:27] of stolen land.
[11:30] But what if this identity is not of an
[11:32] ancient nation, but a modern cynical
[11:35] invention?
[11:37] A political construct designed not to
[11:39] build a state, but to dismantle the
[11:41] Jewish one. In this JTV Plus
[11:44] documentary, we're going to uncover the
[11:46] truth behind the creation of the
[11:48] Palestinian identity. how it was forged
[11:51] in the fires of panarabism, absent in
[11:54] historical records until strategically
[11:56] rebranded in the 1960s by leaders like
[11:59] Egyptian-born Yasa Arafat to rally
[12:01] global opposition against Israel.
[12:05] We'll trace its roots from the Ottoman
[12:06] era, where Palestine was a region
[12:08] without a distinct people, through the
[12:10] pre-1948 years of Arab rejectionism
[12:13] before focusing on the pivotal shift of
[12:15] the 1960s when Arafat declared, "We
[12:18] should now be known as Palestinians,
[12:21] inventing symbols like the flag to mask
[12:23] genocidal aims." This wasn't about
[12:26] self-determination. It was about
[12:28] exploiting refugees, suppressing true
[12:31] aspirations under Arab rule, and
[12:33] perpetuating a war to destroy Israel.
[12:37] Join us as we debunk the myths of an
[12:39] ancient Palestinian nation, expose the
[12:41] strategic manipulation, and reveal how
[12:43] this construct has hindered peace while
[12:46] fueling hate. Fair but firm, this is the
[12:49] story of an identity weaponized not for
[12:51] building a future, but for erasing one.
