Erika Kirk shares the intense security challenges that forced Erika Kirk to cancel her appearance at a University of Georgia event after credible threats emerged. Despite the turmoil, Kirk stepped in to conduct a conversation with Vice President JD Vance that covered immigration reform, Catholic faith, the Pope's controversial statements, the Epstein emails, and what it means to put America first. The event drew over 2,000 students and produced powerful moments where Vance defended conservative activists, explained the administration's 90% reduction in H-1B Visas, and spoke openly about his Catholic conversion and his son's Easter baptism. Kirk reflects on the evening as one of the most memorable events in his career, highlighting Vance's ability to handle tough questions with grace while advancing the movement's message.
Security Threats Force Last-Minute Changes to University of Georgia Event
Erika Kirk returned to Phoenix after what he describes as one of the most memorable events of his career at the University of Georgia in Athens. The event became notable not just for the conversation that took place, but for the security crisis that unfolded beforehand. Erika Kirk was forced to cancel her appearance due to credible security threats that the team had been monitoring for days.
Kirk explained that the situation escalated to the point where bad actors were attempting to dox Erika's travel plans and monitor her movements, with online chatter suggesting different ways people could attack her. The team had already canceled a high school event in the area days earlier due to increased threats. Despite having Secret Service protection for the main event, the security team ultimately determined they couldn't guarantee Erika's safety.
"Nobody wants to live that way," Kirk reflected. "It was a terrible experience in many ways and I feel terrible for Erika. When you're in that moment and the security team looks at you and says we can't guarantee your safety, at some point you just have to say we'll do this a different way." With Erika being one parent away from leaving her children orphans, the decision to prioritize her safety was clear, though deeply unfortunate.
Erika Kirk Steps In to Interview Vice President JD Vance
Despite the security challenges, Kirk was honored to step in and conduct the conversation with Vice President JD Vance. The event drew over 2,000 attendees, mostly students, representing massive turnout for a college event. Kirk noted that the venue, which holds about 4,000 people with a stage setup, was filled with tremendous energy and enthusiasm.
The event faced additional challenges beyond the security threats. Left-wing groups attempted to sabotage attendance by swarming the ticketing system, booking up all 10,000 available tickets with no intention of attending. While the team typically catches these tactics, Kirk acknowledged that opponents used new methods this time, and they're working with ticketing systems to adjust for future events.
There was also significant counterprotest energy on campus leading up to the event, which factored into the decision-making around Erika's participation. The team was also mindful of what had happened with Savannah Hernandez in Minneapolis, which became part of their security calculations.
Major Policy Wins: H-1B Visas Down 90%, Asylum Claims Reduced 95%
One of the standout moments from the conversation came when Vice President Vance highlighted policy achievements that haven't received enough attention. He revealed that new H-1B Visas are down 90% under the Trump administration, a topic that students frequently raise concerns about.
"The asylum process was, I mean, there were literally millions of people coming into the United States every single year on false asylum claims," Vance explained. "We have those claims down something like north of 95%. I'm very proud of what we've done in the Trump administration. Massive reductions in fraudulent visas, massive reductions in fraudulent number of asylum claims. Massive reduction in H-1B visas granted. We're making a lot of progress."
Kirk noted that these statistics are exactly the kind of wins that need to be communicated more effectively, particularly to students who are directly impacted by visa policies affecting their job prospects after graduation.
Vice President Vance Challenges the Pope on Wielding the Sword
A recurring theme throughout the week had been questions about the Catholic Pope's recent statements, and a student at the event pressed Vance on the issue. The Vice President didn't shy away from the controversy, directly challenging the Pope's assertion that "God is never on the side of those who wield the sword."
"How can you say that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword?" Vance asked. "Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated France from the Nazis? Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated Holocaust camps and liberated those innocent people from those who had survived the Holocaust? I certainly think the answer is yes."
Kirk found it ironic that Catholic politicians are now being attacked for not following the Pope's directives, when historically the criticism ran in the opposite direction—that Catholic politicians would be too controlled by Rome. The reversal represents a strange shift in political discourse.
FBI Director Kash Patel Takes Action on Savannah Hernandez Assault
In a moment that Kirk described as beautiful, Vice President Vance defended Erika Kirk's decision to prioritize her safety while also addressing the assault on conservative activist Savannah Hernandez in Minneapolis. Vance revealed that he had spoken with FBI Director Kash Patel about the incident.
"I talked to Kash Patel on the way down here and I said I assume that we're doing something here and he said yes we've had multiple agents on the ground we've already talked to Savannah we're going to use the video to try to go after the people who assaulted her and then try to defund the networks that fund those radicals who are going around assaulting activists," Vance reported. "That's what we should be doing."
Kirk noted that defunding the networks of left-wing activists who engage in violence and intimidation has been a priority, something that was actually one of the last things discussed in text messages between Kirk and Stephen Miller. Scott Bessent at Treasury continues to work on this effort, which Kirk monitors closely because these groups have operated with impunity for years.
The contrast is stark: the Biden administration focused its resources on investigating pro-life demonstrators, including people who simply prayed outside of clinics, while people who besiege federal courthouses, plan to disrupt conservative events, and assault conservative speakers and activists have largely gotten away with everything.
What Does America First Mean for Legal Immigrants?
One of the tougher questions of the evening came from a student of Indian descent who asked about the administration's celebration of decreased legal immigration. She wanted to know what the America First philosophy meant for people like her parents who immigrated legally.
Vance handled the question directly and thoughtfully. He recounted a conversation with someone at another event: "He was kind of sticking his finger in my face saying you need to support my country. You need to support my country. And I said, 'Sir, with all due respect, if you're an American, your country is the United States of America, not a place that you immigrated from whenever that was. Whether your family's been here for 300 years or 1 second, to be an American means to look out for Americans first. And that's the perspective we have to take to our immigration policy.'"
Kirk acknowledged this wasn't an easy question, particularly given that Vance is married to Usha, who comes from an Indian family. But he also noted that this personal connection actually gives Vance credibility and a shield when addressing these sensitive topics. The student asking the question was kind, Kirk noted, though he suspected they probably didn't vote for Vance after hearing his answer.
Setting the Record Straight on Trump and Jeffrey Epstein
As the event was wrapping up and staff were signaling to conclude, Vance decided to take one more question. Neither Kirk nor Vance knew what it would be about, and it turned out to be regarding the Jeffrey Epstein email releases and President Trump's connection to him.
Vance addressed it head-on: "What you see in those emails is that Jeffrey Epstein hated Donald Trump and Donald Trump hated Jeffrey Epstein. In fact, one of the emails is about Donald Trump calling Jeffrey Epstein to the local sheriff saying this guy's a scumbag. You should go and pick him up. So when the president says this is a hoax, he's not saying it's a hoax that Epstein was the scumbag. He's not saying that it's a hoax that Epstein was connected to powerful people. He's saying this Democratic idea that somehow he was Epstein's best friend, that is a hoax."
Vance concluded with a memorable line: "If you look at the emails, it's obvious that Jeffrey Epstein hated Donald J. Trump. And by the way, one of the best signs for whether you're a good person or not, for whether you're a decent human being, is if the worst people in the world hate your guts. The fact that Jeffrey Epstein hates Donald J. Trump is a pretty good thing for Donald J. Trump."
Kirk quipped that he would like to be hated by Jeffrey Epstein, then corrected himself to say it would actually be better not to be known by Epstein at all—which is thankfully the case for both him and his team.
JD Vance's Catholic Faith Takes Center Stage
Throughout the evening, Vice President Vance's Catholic faith emerged as a significant theme. The conversation flowed naturally from the attacks on Erika Kirk to discussions of his Catholic faith, then to the Pope controversy, and eventually to the revelation that one of Vance's sons was baptized on Easter.
Kirk noted that Vance is also working on a book called "Communion"—a distinctly Catholic title—that he's apparently been writing for nine or ten years. The Vice President himself acknowledged at a recent memorial service that he has talked about God more in the last two weeks than in his entire public life.
"It's promising to see one of the leaders of the free world, the second most powerful man in America, continue to talk about Jesus, to talk about his faith, his conversion, and then you see his son get baptized," Kirk reflected.
The Vance family takes scrutiny for these faith discussions because Usha is not Catholic. Kirk expressed admiration for the way Vance navigates this complicated situation in a challenging media environment, doing so with grace, class, and dignity while respecting his family. Blake, Kirk's colleague, agreed that Vance is very talented at handling these sensitive matters.
JD Vance: The Administration's Best Soldier
Reflecting on the Vice President's performance throughout the evening and in recent weeks, Blake offered a memorable assessment using a popular internet meme reference: "It's like that meme you can find online with Jesus and it's like stop giving me your toughest battles. You are my strongest soldier. And I think that's how Vance is distinguishing himself. He is a very good soldier for the administration and for the movement."
Kirk agreed, noting that the administration seems to almost deliberately give Vance the toughest assignments, and he consistently rises to the occasion. Throughout the event, Vance faced difficult questions on immigration, faith, controversial papal statements, and conspiracy theories, handling each with thoughtfulness and conviction.
The evening also featured at least one heckler who shouted about genocide in Palestine, which Vance calmly addressed by pointing out that the administration had actually brought peace to the region. The crowd rallied behind his response, creating what Kirk described as tremendous energy and enthusiasm throughout the venue.
Final Reflections on a Memorable Evening
Despite the security challenges, the last-minute changes, the attempted ticket sabotage by left-wing groups, and the intense atmosphere on campus, Kirk considers the University of Georgia event one that will stand out in his memory among the countless events Turning Point USA has hosted over the years.
The clips from the conversation have gone viral, with millions of views across various platforms. The discussion covered critical topics from immigration policy to religious freedom, from the integrity of conservative activists to the administration's commitment to defending them.
Most importantly, Kirk felt honored to pinch-hit for Erika and grateful that Vice President Vance was willing to continue with the event despite the circumstances. The conversation produced numerous memorable moments and substantive policy discussions that will likely be referenced for some time.
While the evening began with disappointment and legitimate security concerns, it ended as a testament to the resilience of the conservative movement and its willingness to engage directly with students even in hostile environments. The event demonstrated that despite threats, sabotage attempts, and coordinated opposition, important conversations about America's future will continue to happen on college campuses across the country.

I'm very glad to be back in Phoenix
after our event yesterday at the
University of Georgia in Athens,
Georgia. And it was quite the quite the
event. I will say it was one that will
stand out for me uh as far as what I
remember. I mean, we've had so many
events over the years. And it was a
whirlwind, I will tell you. Uh
obviously, the big part of the news was
that Erica was uh she canled her
appearance at that because of security
threats uh that were made against her.
It was something we were, you know,
monitoring for days before the event. We
actually had a high school event that
was planned to be before the college
event in the area that we had to cancel
a few days before because of the
increased online chatter that we were
monitoring, our security team, I should
say, was monitoring. And so we thought,
you know, we got the Secret Service,
everything should be fine at the main
event. But what ended up happening uh
and I have to be somewhat careful here
because the security u our security team
does you know obviously wants to be a
little bit uh circumspect in the way
that we talk about this because we don't
give want to give the bad guys any more
ideas but it was a situation where they
were trying to dox her travel and
monitor her travel suggesting different
ways to that people could attack her and
it was like something we were actively
trying to navigate and change
itineraries move locations
Nobody wants to live that way. Um it was
a terrible experience in many many ways
and I feel terrible for Erica and
ultimately you know when you're in that
moment and the security team looks at
you and says we can't guarantee your
safety at some point you just have to
say there's we'll do this a different
way and that's what we ultimately did
yesterday. Uh I was honored to be able
to pinch hit for Erica. I I um was
honored that the vice president uh was
was open to continue the event with me
in herstead. So, it was an honor to do
that and I think we had a really
important conversation and the the clips
are all over. So, I'm really proud of
that. I think it was really important
topics that we got to. We got to ask a
Catholic vice president about the
Catholic Pope and all of that good
stuff. We had questions about Epstein.
We had questions about H1B and
immigration. So in total it was a it was
a really tremendous conversation that I
will uh look back on fondly. I was
honored to do it. Uh but obviously the
main story is that Erica had to make
that terrible decision uh to not to not
go. And when you are when your children
are one parent away from being orphans
and the security gives you that uh tough
assessment obviously you want to uh take
that very seriously and so we did and um
that's that. So, I will say there was
other news that was the internet is a is
a fun place, Blake. And uh I saw you
mixing it up on on the on the
>> a little. I mean, there's a lot of
disgusting people on the internet who
need to be put in their place.
>> Yeah, Blake Blake is uh I've watched you
slowly
just reach the end of yourself and uh I
so I can appreciate that. I think you're
very good at it. You're very you're very
measured. You you stay you stay very
controlled. Anyway, so the other the
other story that was happening last
night, I think it's worth the addressing
just briefly. I mean, we had over 2,000
mostly students attend that event, uh,
but it was a very large venue. So, 2,000
at any college event is massive. Couple
things happened in advance of this, and
this is one of the pieces of evidence
that we made when we were determining
Erica's um, participation in the event,
is that there was just so much
counterprotest energy. everybody. There
was uh that was apparently all the talk
of the school and you combine that with
the death threats and the doxing of the
travel and the itineraries, all these
things. But so a couple things happened.
So we ended up having to open doors and
close doors earlier than was previously
scheduled. Okay. So that that was
something a lot of people were seeing
the news what happened with Savannah in
Minneapolis. So that was also a
conversation that was having that we
were having. And then there were a bunch
of leftwing groups that tried and they
do this at a number of events. We we
have this pretty much down to a science
where if we have in this event in which
case we had about 10,000 tickets
reserved for the event and uh the event
the venue holds about 4,000 when you
consider the stage. So if you do like a
hockey event at this event it's about
6,000 but then you put a stage in it
only only fits about 4,000. So we had
over 2,000 people there. Massive,
massive energy, great great enthusiasm
from the attendees, but the and this
happens. The leftwing groups swarm the
ticketing and they try and book up all
the tickets and then they don't show and
that's one of their their forms of
protest. Normally, we're pretty good at
sniffing it out, but they use some new
uh means and activities and so we're
working with our ticketing systems to
adjust for that moving forward. But
yeah, there it was it was a eventful
night. But let's get into some of the
the clips here because I think it's
really again the important piece is what
was discussed and tens of thousands
maybe millions have I'm sure actually
millions have seen.
>> Let's just dive into it. Let's dive into
it. I think uh one of the best things
you can do at these events is you can
just tout wins that aren't talked about
enough. Uh I think one of my favorites
is he just he mentions guys the number
of new H1Bs which we hear about from
students all the time. It is down 90%.
Clip three. The asylum process was I
mean there were guys there were
literally millions of people coming into
the United States every single year on
false asylum claims. We have those
claims down something like north of 95%.
I'm very proud of what we've done in the
Trump administration. Massive reductions
in fraudulent visas, massive reductions
in fraudulent number of asylum claims.
Massive reduction in H-1B visas granted.
We're making a lot of progress.
Yeah, and we're actually going to be
talking with Alex Marlo at the top of
the next hour about this this KO report
that it's going viral. Ko's very upset
that we like their reporting. I think
another another good clip we have is
we've had a few a little bit of back and
forth in this all week, but people keep
asking him questions about the pope and
it's very funny because they're trying
to put heat on him for saying I won't be
bossed around by the pope, which every
time we had Catholic politicians in the
past, the attack was they'd get bossed
around by the pope. Very strange
reversal here. But let's play clip 12.
>> So the pope said something. He said that
God is never on the side of those who
wield the sword. God is never on the
side of those who wield the sword. I'm
pretty sure that he said that exact that
exact statement. How can you say that
God is never on the side of those who
wield the sword? Was God on the side of
the Americans who liberated France from
the Nazis? Was God on the side of the
Americans who liberated Holocaust camps
and liberated those those innocent
people from, you know, those who had
survived the Holocaust? I I I
>> I certainly think the answer is yes.
>> You hear that? That heckler was there
was like one heckler and like I noticed
that and he was talking about uh you
know why are you committing genocide? He
had a great answer for it. I thought he
dealt with and it was about you know
Palestine or whatever and he was like
he's like we brought peace to Palestine
actually you know and it was a it was a
great moment. The cloud the the crowd uh
rallied behind it. It was I mean the the
energy was tremendous and the reactions
I mean from his answers I thought he
gives a couple really good mic drop
answers. For a lot of Americans healthc
care is reactive. You get sick first

tremendous uh evening at the University
of Georgia and I so the one of the
things I just want to start because we
kind of skipped over this clip. uh Vice
President Vance defense of Erica I
thought was just a kind of a beautiful
moment but also actually with everything
that's going on with Savannah Hernandez
he mentions that he talked with FBI
director Cash Patel about that saw one
>> Cash Patel on the way down here and I
said I assume that we're doing something
here and he said yes we've had multiple
agents on the ground we've already
talked to Savannah we're going to use
the video to try to go after the people
who assaulted her and then try to defund
the networks that fund those radicals
who are going around assaulting
activists That's what we should be
doing.
>> Yeah. And I I'm reminded and I mentioned
it actually this morning on on another
media hit I did, but the I always think
back to one of Charlie's I think it was
Charles actually last text to Stephen
Miller talking about defunding the
networks of these left-wing, you know,
essentially domestic terrorists that are
trying to come after us and hurt us and
uh all this stuff. And it's critically
important and Scott Besson at Treasury
is still working on this. So, we monitor
that very closely because it's so
important because a lot of these groups,
they really do need to be dismantled
really
>> and they've gotten away for years. They
got away with nobody seriously policing
them. We've got I mean, we've had that
report the other day, which we'll
hopefully cover in the next few days,
where yeah, the Biden administration put
all its focus on investigating pro-life
demonstrators, including people who just
prayed outside of clinics, and then
people who besiege federal courouses,
people who plan to disrupt conservative
events, assault conservative speakers,
assault conservative grassroots
activists, they get away with
everything.
>> Yeah. Um there was another great moment
actually with a uh student asked a
question and she I believe she was
Indian and she was saying you know about
this conversation about immigration you
know you're you're loing the decrease in
legal immigration which again we're
going to get into with Alex Marlo at the
top of hour too um what about me my
parents the the and you know how is that
America first how what's the answer how
do you how do you bring both these sides
together and I thought JD did a
phenomenal job talking about what is
America first what are our oblig ations
to American citizens sought 11ian
American again a a kind person. They
probably didn't vote for me after this
conversation, but he was kind of
sticking his finger in my face saying
you need to to to support my country.
You need to support my country. And I
said, "Sir, with all due respect, if
you're an American, your country is the
United States of America, not a place
that you immigrated from whenever that
was. Whether your family's been here for
300 years or 1 second, to be an American
means to look out for Americans first.
And that's the perspective we have to
take to our immigration policy.
>> Yep. Amen. I mean, that's that's a tough
thing because you think JD is married to
Usha, Indian family, and he's got this
Indian student asking him about what
about
>> legal immigrants like my parents?
>> It's it's a it's not it's not the
easiest question,
>> but also it's also a great shield, of
course.
It gives him some serious some serious
uh upper hand. Yeah. Um there was
another one here about JD. Let me see.
I'm looking for the clip.
>> Um Oh, the Epstein. Yeah. He So he So
it's funny because you know there we're
getting people telling us wrap it up,
wrap it up, wrap it up. And JD just
goes, "Ah, just one more." And I was
like, "Good, good, one more." And you
know, we have no idea what the question
is going to be. Of course it's about
Epstein. And I thought he dealt with it
really, really well. uh sought for
>> what you see in those emails is that
Jeffrey Epstein hated Donald Trump and
Donald Trump hated Jeffrey Epste. In
fact, one of the emails is about Donald
Trump on Jeffrey Epstein to the local
sheriff saying this guy's a scumbag. You
should go and pick him up. So when
Donald Trump says when the president
says this is a hoax, he's not saying
it's a hoax that Epstein was the
scumbag. He's not saying that it's a
hoax that Epstein was connected to
powerful people. He's saying this
Democratic idea that somehow he was
Epstein's best friend, that is a hoax.
And if you look at the emails, it's
obvious that Jeffrey Epste hated Donald
J. Trump. And by the way, one of the
best signs for whether you're a good
person or not, for whether you're a
decent human being, is if the worst
people in the world hate your guts. The
fact that Jeffrey Epste hates Donald J.
Trump is a pretty good thing for Donald
J. Trump.
>> I would like to be hated by Jeffrey
Epste. Well, Jeffrey Epstein is dead.
He's dead. So, it's probably if he was
still alive.
>> Yeah.
>> I would have liked to been on, you know,
well, I actually would have been
probably better not to be known by
Jeffrey Epstein, which is thankfully
what I can I can claim both of us. Um,
so anyways, yeah, give me your overall
thoughts, his his answers.
>> Oh, that was great.
>> You were you were on the outside. I was
very good. I think Vance, he faces a lot
of tough tests. I think the
administration almost in a calculated
way gives him tough jobs, but it's like
that meme you can find online like with
Jesus and it's like stop giving me your
toughest battles. You are my best
soldier. And I think that's how Vance is
distinguishing himself. He is a very
good soldier for the administration and
for the movement. Yeah. Uh and I would
be remiss if I didn't he also mentioned
during the event that uh one of his sons
uh got baptized on Easter. So you're
right. You're right. That was very Yeah.
But you I think it it was interesting
because we we we started the
conversation talking about the attacks
on Erica and both the social media
attacks and now you know actual um you
know threats against her and then we
kind of went into his Catholic faith and
then he's coming out with a book called
Communion that apparently he's been
writing for nine 10 years called you
know communion which is very Catholic uh
it's a very Catholic title and then we
got into the pope and then you know his
son getting baptized when He got
baptized. And it's something that is
interesting about the entire story of JD
Vance because he said at the memorial, I
have talked about God more in the last
two weeks than I have in my entire
public life. And it's it's promising to
see one of the leaders of the free
world, the second most powerful man in
America, continue to talk about Jesus,
to talk about his faith, his conversion,
and then you see
>> his son get baptized. Yeah. And it's
it's something that they take a lot of
scrutiny for because Usha obviously is
is not. And I think it's really
admirable of the way he navigates that
in a very complicated, you know, media
environment and the way he does it with
grace and class and dignity while
respecting his family. I I just had
tipped in.
>> I think he's very he's very talented at
it. They they put him through a lot of
tests, a lot of challenges. I think he
steps up to it very
