Erika Kirk Meets Candace Owens After Conspiracy Theories About Charlie Kirk's Assassination Escalate

Erika Kirk sat down with Candace Owens after weeks of conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Owens has suggested members of Turning Point USA, supporters of Israel, and even U.S. military members may have been involved in Kirk's murder, despite 22-year-old Tyler Robinson being charged. Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz, who witnessed the shooting at the university, discusses why Erika agreed to this meeting and shares his perspective on the investigation.

Erika Kirk Agrees to Private Meeting with Candace Owens

Erika Kirk met privately with conservative podcaster Candace Owens after weeks of escalating conspiracy theories about the assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. Owens has been pushing several theories suggesting that members of Turning Point USA, American supporters of Israel, and even members of the U.S. military may have been involved in Kirk's assassination. Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old charged with Kirk's murder, was seen smirking in court.

Erika's Previous Plea to Stop the Speculation

On Will Cain's show the previous week, Erika Kirk addressed the situation without mentioning Owens by name. When asked about her approach going forward, Erika explained that the organization cannot spend all their time addressing every accusation or nothing would get done at the office. She revealed that they were told if they asked for the speculation to stop, it would stop. Erika made a direct plea: "We said stop, and I will say it again. Please stop."

Jason Chaffetz Weighs In on the Controversy

Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz, who was at the university when Charlie Kirk was killed, joined Will Cain to discuss the situation. Chaffetz expressed both surprise and disappointment that the meeting had to happen at all. He criticized what he called the "unrelenting perpetuation of these somewhat radical conspiracy theories," suggesting that Owens wants quotes, more viewers, and is essentially trying to monetize the tragedy.

Chaffetz emphasized that everyone wants justice and wants the truth to come out, which is why society has law enforcement, prosecutors, and trials. He expressed frustration that Erika Kirk and her children, along with the people at Turning Point USA, have to live through this ongoing speculation. "It just draws on your mind in a way that is just not productive. In fact, it is counterproductive. And it is harmful," Chaffetz said.

The Power and Reach of the Conspiracy Theories

Will Cain admitted he hasn't consumed all the hours of content required to understand everything alleged by Candace Owens, but acknowledged the theories' impact. He noted that Owens' content is incredibly powerful and popular, not just in podcast rankings but in real-world conversations. People frequently bring up Owens' theories to him. This widespread attention may be part of what drove Erika Kirk and Turning Point USA to agree to the meeting.

Chaffetz speculated that Erika may not know any other way to make the speculation stop. Despite her previous plea on Cain's podcast, the theories continued. He expressed sympathy for Erika, saying she shouldn't have to relive the trauma or confront someone "who really just is making stuff up" in many cases and "certainly not vetting it to the point where it is ready for publication."

A Witness Perspective on the Investigation

As someone who was present during the assassination, Chaffetz brought a unique perspective to the discussion. While being there doesn't mean he knows everything about the investigation, it does give him firsthand knowledge of the event itself. He expressed confidence in law enforcement to do their job, specifically mentioning his belief in the Utah County Sheriff, the FBI under Kash Patel's leadership, and the prosecutors who believe they have a strong case. Legal analyst Jonathan Turley has called the evidence "amazing."

Chaffetz was one of 3,000 people present that day who were traumatized by the event. "I can still hear it. I can still see Charlie falling back," he said. While he wants to remember Charlie positively and wants the investigation to get it right, he doesn't want to keep reliving the trauma. He acknowledged that legitimate questions should be asked, but expressed frustration when speculation is "put out there as facts and distractions" that force people to relive the tragedy day after day.
