Zach Costello Exposes How Turning Point USA Betrayed Erika Kirk's Agreement with Candace Owens
Zach Costello breaks down the controversy surrounding Turning Point USA's violation of an agreement made by Erika Kirk and Candace Owens. While the two met privately to discuss matters following the Charlie Kirk assassination, Turning Point USA hosted a live stream with Gary Melton from Paramount Tactical, a vocal Candace Owens critic, to attack her theories. Andrew Kolvet's response to the backlash raises questions about whether this was incompetence or deliberate deception. Meanwhile, Kash Patel faces criticism for doing celebrity gossip interviews while major questions about the Charlie Kirk assassination, Tyler Robinson's potential foreign influence, and the Epstein files remain unanswered. Costello examines what Candace revealed about her meeting with Erika and why the free speech mechanism requires exploring all theories, even unpopular ones.
Turning Point USA Violates Agreement During Candace Owens Meeting
Erika Kirk made a clear statement before her meeting with Candace Owens: there would be no public discussions, live streams, or tweets about their conversation until after the meeting took place. Both parties had mutually agreed to this arrangement. Yet, while Erika and Candace met for over four and a half hours, Turning Point USA and the Charlie Kirk show did exactly what Erika said they would not do.
During the meeting between Erika and Candace, Turning Point USA hosted a live stream featuring Gary Melton from Paramount Tactical. Melton has become one of the most outspoken critics of Candace Owens on social media, regularly attacking her theories about the Charlie Kirk assassination. Andrew Kolvet and Blake Neff are receiving significant criticism for this decision to proceed with the stream despite Erika's explicit request.
Andrew Kolvet's Ridiculous Response
When confronted about violating the agreement, Andrew Kolvet offered a response that can only be described as insulting to anyone's intelligence. Someone asked Candace Owens if she was aware that Turning Point USA violated the agreement by having a whole live stream debunking her claims during the meeting. When Jason Whitlock asked if this was true, Andrew Kolvet responded: "No, we have a daily radio show that is also on Real America's Voice. It wasn't the stream that we discussed. It wasn't even the time we discussed. We can't just not show up for work. The stream was going to be in addition to the daily radio program."
This response is either utterly incompetent or deliberately arrogant. Kolvet appears to think people are too stupid to understand what was actually agreed upon. It wasn't about which specific live stream—it was about the topic being off limits. Erika explicitly said all public discussions, live streams, and tweets (written in plural form) would be on hold. The topic was not to be discussed in any live stream.
Gary Melton's Attacks on Candace Owens
Gary Melton from Paramount Tactical has made attacking Candace Owens on social media his apparent mission. He shared a New York Post article calling Candace's work "sadistic diagnosis" and dangerous for monetizing baseless conspiracy theories. He shared a quote from the article stating: "Everything she is doing right now is because she wants to destroy Charlie's legacy and the organization he built because he threw her out of Turning Point USA."
This narrative is factually incorrect. Candace Owens resigned from Turning Point USA in 2019 after making comments about Hitler, which have since become a viral exchange that actually worked in Candace's favor. Melton also responded to Candace's post about the meeting, claiming that Candace was completely wrong about Turning Point USA and calling her work "slanderous horseshit."
The prerequisite for getting on the Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk show apparently requires having publicly disavowed Candace Owens, which Gary Melton has clearly done repeatedly.
The Problem with Attacking Free Speech Exploration
There is a fundamental problem with how Gary Melton and others are attacking Candace Owens. If Candace turns out to be incorrect about a certain aspect of the Charlie Kirk assassination investigation, this doesn't make her work "slanderous horseshit." Turning over stones that have nothing under them in a high-profile assassination case—after being repeatedly lied to by government authorities, corporations, and elitists—doesn't make someone evil or require a medical diagnosis.
No one applied this same standard to Gary Melton himself when he ended up being wrong early in the investigation. For the first month after Charlie Kirk was killed, Gary pushed a false narrative that the only way a .30-06 rifle could have been used was if Charlie was wearing body armor. This was clearly debunked by showing Charlie's nipples, cross, and pectoral outline through his shirt in photographs.
Gary himself admitted on a live show that having no exit wound and no body armor with a .30-06 from that rooftop would be a "statistical anomaly." He acknowledged it was "possible" but said "statistically it doesn't make sense." He even explained how weird things can happen with ballistics and gave examples of factory ammunition having unexpected issues.
So by Gary's current logic, anyone pushing back on the lone wolf narrative regarding Tyler Robinson or doubting that Charlie Kirk was shot with a .30-06 rifle because there was no exit wound would be a conspiracy theorist pushing slanderous horseshit. Does this make Gary evil and slanderous for his early theories? What should he be diagnosed with?
The free speech mechanism works by rooting out conspiracies through turning over every stone. It is complete bad faith to arrogantly attempt moral blackmail or censorship just because you think someone else's idea is bad. Pure free speech means being allowed to talk about both good and bad ideas. It's exploratory—that's the entire point.
What Candace Owens Revealed About the Meeting
Candace Owens released a short video explaining how her meeting with Erika went. She stated: "Four and a half hours later, I'm alive. I'm alive. I'm totally fine and I am sorry. I was going to do a show for you guys this evening, but I am truly exhausted. Very productive conversation. I asked every single question. I mean, from Egyptian Plains to the Turning Point USA faith, and I was very surprised by some of the answers that I got and I think they were also very surprised when I shared certain intel."
She continued: "This probably should have happened a very long time ago, but I wanted to let you guys know that I am alive and I will have the full rundown for you guys tomorrow of what transpired and yeah, I think it was definitely a very big step in the right direction."
Several things stand out from Candace's statement. She refers to "they" in this clip, indicating the conversation included more people than just Erika and Candace. Who else was present? Candace was surprised by some things that were presented, and they were surprised by some of the intel that Candace shared. This is exactly how the free speech mechanism works—this is how we get to the full truth.
Kash Patel Does Celebrity Gossip While Major Questions Remain Unanswered
There is a lot going on in the world that the FBI director should be focused on. Candace Owens supposedly received an assassination threat from the French government. The majority of people are concerned that Tyler Robinson did not act alone in the Charlie Kirk assassination case and may have been influenced by a domestic or foreign operative through covert influence. There are no answers on the Epstein files despite specific promises that they would be released. The list goes on and on.
Yet FBI director Kash Patel is taking time to do celebrity gossip interviews with his girlfriend about their love story. In the interview, they joke about whether she's Jewish, from Israel, or a Mossad agent. They discuss when he'll propose and how often he's traveled to see her since January 20th.
Kash Patel has already been scrutinized for using the FBI jet to travel to his girlfriend's shows on taxpayer dime. His justification has been that his predecessors all did the same thing, using FBI resources and taxpayer dollars for personal use. The problem is that nobody approves of his predecessors' use of taxpayer dollars either. None of his predecessors did a very good job. This is government elitism, and it doesn't matter who does it.
This is his girlfriend, not his wife. This isn't him flying back from somewhere important to get to his son's baseball game. This is traveling to his girlfriend's country music concert. There's nothing wrong with having a personal life, but spare us from this People magazine garbage. If Kash Patel is going to take time out to do a podcast on taxpayer dime, then go on Candace Owens and talk about something people actually care about—like getting answers about who killed Charlie Kirk and why.
