Families File Lawsuit After Deadly Explosion

Two families who lost loved ones in the October explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems in McEwen, Tennessee, are now suing the company for $150 million each. Attorney Dardan Ricci represents the families of Rena Gillihan and Steven Wright, who died on October 10 in the blast that killed 16 people total.

State Regulators Find Over 100 Violations

State regulators from TOSHA (Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration) released a report last week finding more than 100 violations at the munitions factory. These findings have strengthened the families' case against the company.

Company's Response Called Insulting

Ricci describes Accurate Energetic Systems' support efforts to the impacted families as insulting. He cites examples including a free t-shirt with their deceased family member's face on it and a $50 Walmart gift card as evidence of the company's inadequate response to the tragedy.

Federal Lawsuit Expected Soon

Ricci expects to file the lawsuit in federal court by the end of next week. Fox 17 News has been covering the fallout of the explosion since it happened, and all previous reporting is available on their platform.
