Pastor Mark Driscoll Addresses the Spiritual Warfare Behind the Murder of Charlie Kirk

September 14, 2025

Pastor Mark Driscoll delivers a powerful sermon addressing the murder of Charlie Kirk, calling it a demonic attack on a faithful Christian leader. Speaking at what appears to be a memorial service, Driscoll explores the spiritual dimensions behind the tragedy, examining the shooter's background, radicalization, and the transgender ideology that appeared to motivate the attack. He argues that when physical causes fail to explain such evil, believers must look to spiritual causes, citing demonic influence, radical ideology in higher education, and the dangers of counterfeit religious movements. Driscoll's message challenges the modern world's dismissal of spiritual warfare and calls Christians to understand the unseen realm's role in current cultural battles.

A Brother in Christ Murdered

Pastor Mark Driscoll opened his sermon with a heavy heart, addressing the murder of Charlie Kirk, a man he knew personally and loved as a friend in Christ. Driscoll described Kirk as someone who genuinely loved Jesus, emphasizing the personal nature of their relationship. The pastor refused to speak the name of the 22-year-old shooter, stating that from his pulpit, he speaks the name of Jesus, not murderers and criminals.

The central question being asked across media and social platforms was simple yet profound: Why? Why would someone commit such an act? Driscoll's answer was equally direct: by faith, we understand what others cannot.

The Shooter's Background and Radicalization

Driscoll detailed what was known about the shooter's background. The young man grew up in an affluent, beautiful suburb, by all accounts in a loving home. His father worked in law enforcement, and both parents were registered Republicans. Years earlier, the shooter had even dressed as Donald Trump for Halloween. Yet somewhere along his journey, something changed drastically.

According to Driscoll, investigators were tracing the shooter's online footprint, attempting to understand where and how he became radicalized. The authorities claimed they couldn't find a cause, but Driscoll posed a provocative question: Are colleges radicalizing people in murderous leftist ideology? He compared some college classes and professors to jihadists, suggesting they are radicalizing an entire generation.

The Moment of the Murder

Charlie Kirk was answering a question when he was shot. That question was about transgender shooters. Kirk never got to complete his answer, but Driscoll took it upon himself to answer it: "All of this is demonic."

Driscoll explained that when someone hates another person they've never met to the degree that they will murder them, leaving a wife widowed and children fatherless, the explanation must be spiritual. His answer was emphatic: demon, demon, demon.

The Spiritual Dimension Modern Society Ignores

The pastor criticized the modern world's failure to understand the unseen realm and the spiritual dimension of evil. He pointed out that the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders) mentions the human soul zero times. It doesn't believe in God, demons, or the soul. This, he argued, leaves society blind to spiritual causes when physical causes cannot be found.

Driscoll emphasized the principle: "When you can't find a physical cause, look for a spiritual cause."

The Shooter's Religious Background

The shooter grew up Mormon, and it was his youth pastor along with his father who encouraged him to turn himself in. Driscoll didn't mince words about Mormonism, calling it "a demonic cult." He pointed to the angel Moroni atop Mormon buildings, which he identified as a demon, not found in the Bible.

Citing Galatians, Driscoll explained that even if an angel from heaven preaches another gospel, let them be cursed. He argued that Mormonism came into existence when a demon preached a counterfeit gospel and now holds a position of authority over Mormon buildings, representing demonic dominion visible as people drive by.

The Transgender Connection

Just before taking the pulpit, Driscoll learned that the shooter was living with a transgender partner—a man transitioning to be a woman. On the bullet used to kill Kirk were written transgender statements. The tragic irony wasn't lost on Driscoll: a question was asked about transgender shooters, and a man in a transgender sexual relationship pulled the trigger, murdering the man who was about to answer that question on behalf of Jesus Christ.

Demons and Gender Identity

Driscoll then made a theological argument about the nature of demons and gender. He stated that demons are transgender. Human beings are made male and female, but demons do not inhabit physical bodies as humans do. When angels or demons appear (demons being fallen, cursed angels), they sometimes appear as male and sometimes as female.

This means, according to Driscoll, that when demons appear, they look like humans. He referenced Hebrews, which mentions that some have entertained angels unaware because they look like people. Since demons can present as male or female at different times, Driscoll concluded that demons are non-gendered, transgender, and exist on a gender spectrum, presenting themselves at various points along that continuum as they choose.

Furthermore, he noted that while angels in the Bible are never sexually involved with human beings, demons often are. Demons are frequently involved in perversion, transgenderism, and sexually perverse behavior.

The Spirit of Babylon

Driscoll connected current events to the demonic spirit of Babylon. Babylon, he explained, exists in Genesis as an attempt to have heaven on earth without God. God scattered the people and confused their languages. Ancient Babylon is modern-day Baghdad, Iraq, but the spirit of Babylon works in every generation, often through media, government, politics, and education.

He cited the book of Daniel, where Daniel was taken as a prisoner of war by the nation of Babylon. Isaiah prophesied that young men taken by the government would be castrated and gender-mutilated by the government. Driscoll believes Daniel never married because he was castrated by the spirit of Babylon and the government of Babylon.

His conclusion was direct: when you see governments sexualizing and mutilating healthy young adults, including men, you know the spirit of Babylon is at work.

By Faith, We Understand

Throughout his sermon, Driscoll repeatedly returned to the phrase "by faith, we understand." This was his answer to those asking why such evil occurred. The secular world, with its limited materialistic worldview, cannot comprehend spiritual warfare. But for believers, the answer is clear: this was a demonic attack on a faithful servant of Christ.

Driscoll's message was uncompromising: the murder of Charlie Kirk was not merely a crime to be analyzed through psychology, sociology, or politics. It was spiritual warfare made manifest, a demonic assault on someone who stood for Jesus Christ and biblical truth.

[00:00] All of this is demonic.

[00:01] That's right. Come on.

[00:03] When you can't find a physical cause,

[00:05] look for a spiritual cause.

[00:13] So this week,

[00:15] Charlie Kirk is shot, murdered, and

[00:18] martyed.

[00:20] He loved Jesus.

[00:22] I know that for a very personal fact. He

[00:26] was my friend. I I love him.

[00:29] And what's happening right now,

[00:33] the question that is being asked in

[00:35] media and online and social media is

[00:37] what?

[00:38] Why?

[00:40] Why? It's probably why you're here or

[00:43] hearing this. Well, by faith, we

[00:46] understand. That's right.

[00:48] A 22-year-old man, I won't say his name

[00:50] because he wants to be a hero.

[00:52] We we speak the name of Jesus from this

[00:54] pulpit, not murderers and criminals.

[00:58] Yeah.

[01:03] 22-year-old man,

[01:05] grows up in a very affluent, nice,

[01:09] beautiful suburb by all accounts, in a

[01:11] loving home.

[01:13] He has brothers. His father was in law

[01:17] enforcement. His mom and dad were

[01:18] registered Republicans.

[01:21] Some years ago for Halloween, he dressed

[01:22] up as Donald Trump.

[01:28] And then he decides that he is going to

[01:32] execute, murder, assassinate, murder

[01:36] our brother in Christ.

[01:40] Let me give you a clue. By faith, we

[01:42] understand

[01:44] Charlie Kirk was answering a question

[01:46] when he was shot. Do you know what the

[01:48] question was?

[01:49] It was about transgender

[01:52] shooters.

[01:57] Charlie didn't get to answer that

[01:58] question. I'll answer that question.

[02:03] All of this is demonic.

[02:05] Right.

[02:06] When you can't find a physical cause,

[02:09] look for a spiritual cause. That's

[02:11] right.

[02:13] When you hate someone that has never met

[02:16] you or said or done anything

[02:21] particularly focused on you to the

[02:24] degree that you will murder them,

[02:29] cause their wife to be a widow and their

[02:31] children to be fatherless.

[02:36] The question is why? Why? Why? And I

[02:39] would say demon demon demon.

[02:41] That's right.

[02:42] Our world doesn't understand the unseen

[02:45] realm. Our world doesn't understand the

[02:47] spiritual.

[02:48] The DSM, the Diagnostic and Statistical

[02:51] Manual of Mental Health Disorders

[02:53] mentions the human soul zero times.

[02:56] It doesn't believe in God. Doesn't

[02:58] believe in demons. It doesn't believe in

[03:00] the soul.

[03:03] By faith, we understand

[03:07] what we discover as the information

[03:11] rolls out is that at some point in

[03:14] recent years, this young man got

[03:16] radicalized.

[03:18] So, they're tracing his online

[03:20] footprint. Where did he get radicalized?

[03:22] And they say, "We can't find a cause."

[03:26] Well, maybe colleges are radicalizing

[03:29] people in murderous leftist ideology.

[03:32] That's an interesting question to pose.

[03:37] Are are colleges some classes and

[03:40] professors doing the same thing as

[03:42] jihadists? And that is radicalizing an

[03:45] entire generation.

[03:48] In addition,

[03:51] this man was a Mormon growing up. It was

[03:56] his youth pastor along with his father

[03:58] who encouraged him to turn himself in.

[04:02] Mormonism is a demonic cult.

[04:04] That's right.

[04:05] Amen.

[04:06] Come on.

[04:06] On the top of Mormon buildings, I won't

[04:09] call them churches.

[04:11] There is um an angel named Moroni. And

[04:15] you won't see that in our Bible because

[04:18] this is a demon.

[04:20] That's right. And the Bible says in

[04:22] Galatians that even if we or an angel

[04:25] from heaven, that being a demon, preach

[04:27] another gospel, let them be a curse.

[04:29] That's how Mormonism came into

[04:30] existence. A demon preached a

[04:32] counterfeit gospel and now is in a

[04:35] position of authority over buildings. So

[04:38] as you drive by them, you are seeing

[04:40] demonic dominion.

[04:41] Yeah. Furthermore, on the bullet were

[04:45] written um transgender statements.

[04:50] Just found out before I got up that this

[04:53] man was living with a transgender

[04:55] partner.

[04:57] It was a man transitioning to be a

[05:02] woman.

[05:04] So on the bullet

[05:06] is written transgender support. The

[05:09] question is asked, "What about

[05:11] transgender shooters?" And a man who's

[05:14] in a transgender sexual relationship

[05:16] pulls the trigger and murders the man

[05:20] who was about to answer the question on

[05:23] behalf of Jesus Christ.

[05:24] That's right.

[05:25] Wow.

[05:25] Come on.

[05:28] By faith, we understand.

[05:30] That's right.

[05:33] For those of you who don't know, demons

[05:35] are transgender.

[05:37] Yep. Amen. Human beings are made male

[05:40] and female.

[05:42] Demons do not inhabit a physical body as

[05:45] human beings do.

[05:48] Therefore, when angels or demons appear,

[05:51] demons are fallen cursed angels. When

[05:54] they do appear, at times they do appear

[05:56] as male and female. What that means is

[06:00] when demons appear, they appear like

[06:03] humans. So earlier in Hebrews I taught

[06:05] you

[06:07] it says that some of us have entertained

[06:09] angels unaware

[06:11] because they look like people

[06:15] and when they appear sometimes they

[06:17] appear as a male other times they appear

[06:19] as a female. That means that demons are

[06:21] non-gendered. They are transgender. They

[06:25] exist on a gender spectrum and they

[06:27] present themselves male, female, and

[06:30] various points along that continuum

[06:34] as they choose.

[06:36] Furthermore, in the Bible, angels are

[06:39] never sexually involved with human

[06:41] beings, but demons often are.

[06:44] Demons are often involved in perversion,

[06:47] transgenderism, and and sexuality that

[06:50] is perverse.

[06:53] This includes uh the demonic spirit of

[06:55] Babylon. Babylon exists in Genesis. It

[06:59] is an attempt to have heaven on earth

[07:02] without God. And God scatters the people

[07:05] and confuses their languages. It is

[07:08] ancient Babylon, but it's modern-day

[07:11] Baghdad, Iraq.

[07:14] The spirit of Babylon works in every

[07:16] generation. And it often works through

[07:20] media, government, politics, education.

[07:23] It was Daniel in the book of Daniel

[07:26] where he was taken as a prisoner of war

[07:29] by the nation of Babylon.

[07:32] It was prophesied in Isaiah that the

[07:36] young men who were taken by the

[07:37] government would be castrated, gender

[07:40] mutilated by the government.

[07:43] I believe the reason that Daniel never

[07:45] married is because he was castrated by

[07:49] the spirit of Babylon and the government

[07:51] of Babylon. When you see governments

[07:55] sexualizing and mutilating healthy young

[07:59] adults, including men, you know the

[08:01] spirit of Babylon is at work. It's all

[08:03] demonic.
