Zach Costello Exposes Lies Surrounding Charlie Kirk Shooting and Eric Bolling's Candace Owens Claims
Zach Costello examines three troubling developments following the Charlie Kirk shooting. The man caught cheering in the crowd releases an unconvincing statement that raises more questions than answers. Former Turning Point USA board member Eric Bolling returns to the Patrick Bet-David podcast but doubles down on demonstrable lies about Candace Owens' relationship with Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA. Meanwhile, Josh Hammer threatens to sue Candace Owens for defamation after she exposed text messages proving Charlie Kirk expressed frustration with Jewish donors and pro-Israel pressure. Costello walks through each incident, showing why the continual lies from people with special interests are massive red flags in understanding what really happened.
Josh Hammer Threatens Defamation Lawsuit Against Candace Owens
Josh Hammer appeared on a podcast discussing his potential defamation case against Candace Owens. Hammer stated he is speaking with lawyers about pursuing legal action, saying he believes there is a potentially serious case for defamation. He emphasized his legal background, noting that he clerked for a federal appeals judge and knows constitutional law.
When asked if Candace is lying in a way that damages him significantly, Hammer responded that it's evil. He claimed Charlie Kirk was a good friend of his for five to six years, and that they became particularly close over the final year to year and a half of Charlie's life, communicating daily. Hammer stated he doesn't know precisely the extent to which Charlie and Candace communicated in the final year or two, but claimed she was on the outs with Turning Point USA and they were not in touch at all, maybe exchanging a happy birthday here or there but nothing close.
However, Candace Owens has been willing to turn over every stone and burn every bridge to find out what happened to Charlie Kirk. The way in which people like Josh Hammer came out claiming that Charlie never wavered in his support of Israel despite having been on that text message thread wherein Charlie said the opposite was a red flag for Candace and she had a problem with it. That's why she called him out. She called Josh Hammer a liar for what he said and it's certainly justified. The question remains what kind of defamation case he has against her when she exposed text messages showing Charlie Kirk explicitly stated that he was tired of the way that Jewish donors were treating and bullying him and that he was leaving along with Turning Point USA the pro-Israel cause.
Eric Bolling Doubles Down on Lies About Candace Owens
Eric Bolling was brought back onto the Patrick Bet-David podcast and given the chance to explain the blatant lies that he told about Candace Owens and her relationship with Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA. As it turns out, he just made matters worse.
Patrick Bet-David confronted Bolling about two specific claims: the comment about being on the board and the statement that Candace hadn't spoken at Turning Point USA for two years when the audience sent a message showing she had spoken in June 2024, just 14 to 18 months prior to Bolling's original statement.
Bolling explained that in 2019, while going from a show he was hosting in DC to a restaurant just outside the DC area, he got a phone call from Charlie Kirk asking him to join the board of Turning Point USA. He said he was an advisory board member from 2019 to early 2024, then moved over to the honorary board. He clarified that anyone who says he's not on the board is mistaken because he's not on the actual day-to-day business of the board, but he's an honorary board member after spending five years as an advisory board member.
Regarding the comment on Candace, Bolling said he thought he said he hadn't seen her or she hadn't been a speaker at Turning Point USA for a couple of years and he was mistaken because it was 18 months and he had forgotten about the 2024 event when he thinks she was pregnant. He acknowledged that Candace Owens' supporters let him know they were very upset. He claimed this was all stemming from a back and forth he had with Adam about Candace blaming Israel for Charlie Kirk's assassination, which he didn't think was a fair assessment. He added that the next day she said it was the US government who assassinated Charlie Kirk.
Bolling stated he has no axe to grind with Candace Owens or her fan base, but he's living in the real world a little bit more reality based. He believes there are forces behind Charlie Kirk's assassination, but he doesn't think it's Israel and he's pretty sure it's not the US government. When asked who he thinks it is, Bolling said he thinks it's the trans activist group funded by the Soros network of liberal progressive lunatics, whether directly funded or they just fund Antifa groups and it riles up their base which is anti-Trump.
The Problem with Bolling's Explanation
The problem with Bolling's explanation is that it isn't what he actually said. He doubled down on the lie. In fact, he doubled down on three lies. In the original conversation, when asked if he was on the board of Turning Point, Bolling said yes. When asked when the last time he saw Candace Owens in person, he said 2015 or 2016. When asked when the last time she was at a Turning Point event, he said not in many years.
Bolling then went on to say that there's proof that Candace Owens has nothing to do with Turning Point USA. He stated that in a perfect world, if they didn't have what he already knew was a very quiet breakup where she got too rabbit hole for Charlie, she would be the logical heir to the Turning Point USA throne, but she's not even invited. When pressed on what he meant by not invited, Bolling said she's not even there and doesn't speak at the events anymore.
So Bolling said or alluded to the fact that he was currently on the Turning Point USA board, not a past or honorary board member. He also said that Charlie had a silent breakup with Candace Owens because she was chasing down rabbit holes, which also isn't true since they remained friends. And he said that it had been many years since Candace was doing a Turning Point USA event, which is also not true. The continual lies from people with special interests are a red flag.
The Man Who Cheered After Charlie Kirk Was Shot Breaks His Silence
The man who got caught cheering in the crowd after Charlie Kirk got shot has finally broken his silence. His name is David, and he released a statement explaining what happened and why he did what he did. The statement doesn't add up.
David explained that the event opened with music, people throwing hats, and loud exchanges from different parts of the crowd. Some shouted offensive remarks directed at the LGBT community, while others made disparaging comments about the prophet of Islam. There were also cheers, boos, and offensive hand gestures and mockery. The atmosphere carried an energy of confrontation more than dialogue.
He described how the first debater tried to persuade Charlie to adopt Mormonism, but the exchange drifted into a disjointed back and forth of opinions. The audience eventually booed him off platform. Another speaker raised the idea of restricting gun rights for transgender individuals, citing Donald Trump as an influence. He began to reference statistics and posed a question. Charlie's response turned to the subject of gang violence as a part of the mass shooting statistics.
At that point, David said he did not see what happened directly and his head was lowered while he listened. When he heard a sharp crack, at first he thought it might have been fireworks or a disruptive prank, so he looked up to the horizon for smoke. When none appeared, he realized it must have been a firearm. His friend reacted in horror, saying Charlie had been struck. His voice and description told David how serious it was.
David claimed he instinctively checked the security team's movement though he has no affiliation with them. Realizing the situation was dangerous, he stood and shouted USA not as a provocation but to project strength, encourage others, and create a distraction that might help calm panic or even save lives. At that moment, he said no one knew whether this was a lone shooter or something coordinated. His friend was devastated and admitted he admired Charlie deeply. David said he only knew Charlie through minimal content but would never wish to celebrate harm to anyone. Because of his background as a soldier, he claimed he was able to stay calm under stress and focus on protecting and comforting his friend. Afterward, he called his wife to let her know he was safe. Once traffic eased, they left.
David's Story Raises More Questions Than Answers
First of all, what kind of reading of a prepared statement is this? Is this supposed to be believable? Second, if David thought there might have been a second shooter, why in the world would he be throwing up his hands looking happy? Does this look like someone who is concerned for others and for the crowd?
The lies continue. And where lies are, darkness is. This is the reason for the red flags. And this is why people have questions. Weird behavior and weird lies don't lead to good places.
