The Blue-Collar Coalition Behind Trump's Economic Pitch

Showing 6 Blue-Collar Workers videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.

Blue-collar workers became the explicit target audience for Charlie Kirk and JD Vance's closing economic argument in the 2024 campaign's final stretch, with Vance's own biography, growing up in poverty before serving in the Marine Corps and building a business, offered as living proof that the same opportunities remained available to the audience listening in Arizona. Kirk pressed the same argument directly with a college freshman voting for Kamala Harris, walking through housing affordability data to argue that Trump-era deregulation, five regulations eliminated for every new one added, mattered more concretely to working-class prospects than any abstract policy promise Harris was making. A separate debate with a Catholic, working-class Hispanic American from rural Idaho tested the limits of that pitch directly, with the student citing Poland and Hungary as examples of universal healthcare succeeding in socially conservative countries, while Kirk countered using the VA system and Native American reservation healthcare as domestic examples of government-run healthcare failing the same working-class populations it was designed to help. Senator Josh Hawley extended the same working-class-focused argument into a broader case about restoring purpose and dignity to men specifically, arguing economic policy alone can't solve a crisis he frames as fundamentally about lost identity.
