Charlie Kirk and JD Vance Expose Kamala Harris's Border Catastrophe and Missing Children Crisis in Arizona

Charlie Kirk introduces JD Vance at a Phoenix church event where Ohio's senator dismantles Kamala Harris's record on border security, the fentanyl crisis, and 320,000 missing children. Vance challenges Harris's refusal to take unscripted interviews while contrasting Trump's blue-collar economic boom with the current administration's failures. From bailing out Minneapolis rioters to weaponizing compassion rhetoric while enabling cartel sex trafficking, Vance argues Harris represents a San Francisco liberalism that everyday Americans reject when given the unfiltered truth.

A Uniquely American Story Takes the Stage

Charlie Kirk welcomed JD Vance to a packed Arizona church, introducing him as someone who embodies the American dream—a man who grew up in poverty, served heroically in the United States Marine Corps, built a successful business, became a US Senator from Ohio, and now serves as an America First champion poised to be the next Vice President of the United States alongside Donald Trump.

Without teleprompters and taking questions directly from the audience, Vance immediately addressed what Kirk called one of the most bizarre aspects of the 2024 campaign: Kamala Harris has gone over 40 days without taking a serious interview or press conference.

Why Harris Won't Face Unscripted Questions

Vance explained that Harris is terrified of both the media and the American people because speaking off the cuff would reveal just how radical she truly is. Her entire campaign strategy involves running away from every position she held three and a half years ago.

"She wanted to defund the police. Now she says she doesn't. She wanted to ban fracking. Now she says she doesn't. She was the border czar who opened the American southern border, but now all of a sudden she says she believes in border security," Vance said. "I joke with President Trump that she's going to show up at a rally one day with a long red tie and the slogan make America great again."

Vance noted that before one rally, Trump called him and asked what was happening with Harris's messaging shift. Vance responded that perhaps she wanted his job since the Kamala Harris campaign wasn't going well. The audience must not let Americans forget how radical she is—she is exactly what she said she was and exactly what she has governed as.

The DNC's Smoke and Mirrors Show

The Democratic National Convention in Chicago showcased this deception perfectly, Vance argued. Democrats pretended to be something they're not because the country is not nearly as liberal as its leaders have become. America remains a center-right country that wants borders, rejects men in female sports, and demands sound currency. Harris knows that if she ran as what she truly is—a San Francisco liberal—the people would soundly reject her.

Bailing Out Rioters While Claiming to Support Police

Kirk asked Vance about Harris's actions during the 2020 riots. Vance confirmed the almost unbelievable truth: when rioters burned down Minneapolis and other cities in summer 2020, Kamala Harris was at the front of the line trying to bail them out of prison. The woman who now claims to support police officers was bailing out people who were attacking police officers and burning down American cities.

Vance also reminded the audience to think about and pray for the two Phoenix police officers who had been shot the previous day, with one in stable condition. He emphasized the contrast between Harris's record and Donald Trump's actual support for law enforcement.

From Tough Prosecutor to Crime Enabler

Despite Harris's claims of being a tough-on-crime prosecutor, Vance pointed to her actual record: she turned San Francisco into the high-crime problem it is today. One of the most beautiful cities in the country became so overwhelmed with crime that calling the police often results in being told to call back in a couple of hours unless you're being actively assaulted—all thanks to her policies that empowered drug cartels and dealers.

The Ultimate Act of Shamelessness

Vance highlighted what he called a special level of shamelessness: Harris is currently the sitting Vice President of the United States, yet she campaigns by saying "on day one" she'll make groceries and housing more affordable and tackle the southern border.

"Kamala, day one was three and a half years ago. What the hell have you been doing the whole time?" Vance demanded, apologizing to the pastors in the room for occasionally talking like his mamaw, a woman of serious Christian faith who nonetheless loved the occasional strong language.

Arizona Under Invasion

Kirk emphasized that Arizonans experience the border crisis daily as an actual invasion. He pointed out the dishonesty of Democratic candidates like Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly who raise out-of-state money, run ads walking alongside Trump's border wall claiming they support border security, then vote against every border security measure in the Senate.

Harris has now even featured Trump's border wall in her own advertisement—the very wall she stopped construction on during day one of the Biden-Harris administration.

Border Security Isn't Complicated

Vance laid out the straightforward solution to border security:

  1. Empower the border patrol to stop bad actors when they try to come across
  2. Deport people who come into this country illegally
  3. Don't let people claim asylum and bounce around the country for 12 years awaiting a court date—make them stay in Mexico through the Remain in Mexico policy

President Trump implemented all of these policies. He created the Remain in Mexico policy, actually deported people, and didn't allow abuse of the asylum process. Kamala Harris promised on day one to undo all of it, and that's exactly what she did—creating the current border catastrophe.

The Devastating Human Toll

Vance turned to the personal dimension of the border crisis. American citizens are dying from fentanyl overdoses as Mexican drug cartels flood communities with poison. According to the Department of Homeland Security, there are 320,000 missing children—thousands being sex trafficked by cartels in our own country.

Vance shared his own family story: his mother struggled with addiction during his early life, which is why his grandmother played such a big role in raising him. He remembered when his mom took something she shouldn't have and fell into a coma for a few days. He prayed for her to wake up, and because she didn't take fentanyl, she got a second chance. She's been clean and sober for almost 10 years.

"But imagine, Charlie, if the poison that Kamala Harris is letting come across the border today had been coming across 15 years ago, I don't think that I would have gotten that second chance with my mom," Vance said.

A Christian Imperative

Speaking in a house of worship, Kirk emphasized that Christians have a special obligation to care about the 320,000 missing children. Scripture is clear: it is better to have a millstone hung around your neck and be thrown into the sea than to harm one of these little ones.

Vance agreed that this alone should be reason enough for Christians to vote for Trump-Vance. The government has allowed 320,000 kids to go missing, many losing their lives, many being sex trafficked by evil people—this is the wage of Harris's disastrous border policy happening every day.

False Compassion Exposed

Vance rejected the narrative that Harris represents compassion on border issues. Democrats claimed Trump wanted to separate families, but the truth is the opposite: keeping families together means sending a clear message that people must come through proper channels. Empowering cartels and telling everyone they can come illegally causes family separation on an industrial scale.

"There are 320,000 voices of children crying out telling us Kamala Harris is not compassionate. She is a disaster and we cannot promote her to the Oval Office," Vance declared.

Every State Is Now a Border State

Kirk noted that the crisis extends beyond Arizona. The administration has sent illegal immigrants across the country, making every state a border state. Phoenix valley residents are experiencing increased crime and break-ins throughout their neighborhoods.

Even more tragic: a 16-year-old making a mistake at a party at 2 a.m. on a Saturday—taking a drug that would otherwise just be a bad night—can end up dead because it's laced with fentanyl. This story plays out every week in the Phoenix valley.

Candy That Kills

Vance shared a chilling discovery from visiting an interdiction unit in Valdosta, Georgia—a town of just 60,000 people. Boxes and boxes of candy like Sour Patch Kids and Nerds were confiscated because cartels figured out that making fentanyl look like childhood candy makes it more likely to get through. Now kids picking up what looks like candy on a playground or opening a packet at high school can die.

As a Christian who believes in the gospel message of second chances, Vance emphasized how disturbing it is when a kid smokes a joint or takes a pill laced with fentanyl and a childhood mistake takes their life. Some on the radical fringe respond by saying the kid shouldn't have taken it in the first place, completely missing the point and lacking compassion for fellow citizens.

With three young children—ages seven, four, and two—Vance wants them to grow up in a country where neighborhoods are safe enough that they can make a mistake without it taking their life, where they can deal with their childhood mistakes and problems and sins at church instead of having it destroy them. Kamala Harris has taken safety away from kids and second chances away from families.

A Choice, Not a Natural Disaster

Kirk emphasized a crucial point: the border crisis is not something happening to us—it's an act of will. Democrats and Harris frame it as an uncontrolled natural disaster that must be managed, but the reality is we are allowing it to happen.

Vance agreed: "It's an unnatural disaster and her name is Kamala Harris." The administration came in bragging about undoing every single Trump border policy. Three and a half years ago, Harris didn't pretend to be a border hawk—she was open about being an open borders radical. They promised to suspend deportations and end Remain in Mexico, and they did exactly what they said they would do. Now they're trying to run from the consequences.

The Power of the Ballot Box

The way Harris gets away with this massive dishonest operation is if people don't get out and vote to penalize these politicians. When politicians lie, citizens have a response: the ballot box. The message on November 5th should be clear: "You are fired."

Arizona's Republican Surge

Kirk shared encouraging news that represents one of the buried leads of the election: Arizona is actually becoming more Republican, not more Democrat. In 2020, there were about 100,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats. Four years later, there are now 260,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats—a net increase that's happening because everyday Americans see the failure of open border policies and international chaos.

Phoenix: From Affordable to Unaffordable

Phoenix specifically exemplifies the economic damage. A decade ago, it was one of America's most affordable cities where residents could brag to friends and family in Chicago, LA, and New York about how affordable everything was. Now inflation in the sunbelt is the worst in the country, from housing prices to grocery prices.

The Inflation Equation

Vance explained the causes: When you let 25 million illegal aliens into the country, they compete against Americans for scarce homes. Then Harris cast the tiebreaking vote for what Vance called "the inflation explosion act," driving mortgage interest rates higher along with home prices. Americans can't afford to buy homes because too many people are competing and mortgage rates went through the roof.

Harris also went to war against American energy. Since energy goes into everything—manufacturing, transporting food to grocery stores via trucks—raising the cost of energy raises the cost of everything else. Harris would rather buy oil and gas from tinpot dictators around the world. Trump-Vance believe we should buy energy from American workers on American territory, which will create jobs and drive down costs across the board.

The Disappearing Middle Class Dream

Vance hears from Democrats and independents alike that 30 years ago, parents working normal American middle class jobs could afford to buy a home, send their kids to schools where they'd get an education rather than indoctrination, and trust their kids could walk down safe streets. All of that has been taken away except for the very rich and privileged who can afford private security and send their kids anywhere regardless of energy costs.

"You know who stood for working people and his policies backed it up? Donald J. Trump for four whole years," Vance said.

The Blue-Collar Boom

Kirk highlighted one of the least reported economic miracles of the Trump administration: the blue-collar boom. Those who work with their hands—the muscular class of plumbers, electricians, welders, those who shower before work and after work, those talked down to by leaders because they lack college degrees—are building the country and increasingly joining the Republican party because of shared values.

Under Trump, the muscular class saw their wages go up quicker than even high-income earners. This is why everyday voters might say they don't know how they feel about Trump personally, but acknowledge their life was better when he was president—they were richer, communities were safer, there was a border. That alone should decide the election.

Making Things in America Again

Vance emphasized the importance of understanding recent history. For 30 years, both Republicans and Democrats united around a stupid principle: America didn't need to make its own stuff. China makes 95% of our ibuprofen, the antibiotics we put into our children's bodies, and even some weapons our troops need to fight with.

Donald Trump was the first president in 30 years to say this is idiotic—we need to make more in America with American workers for American people. Building thousands of American factories was both a national security imperative and meant better lives for workers, with take-home pay skyrocketing especially for blue-collar workers.

The goal is simple: if you work hard and play by the rules, you ought to be able to afford a home and a nice life for your family. Americans should be able to live a decent life in the country their parents and grandparents built. It's not too much to ask—we just need to fire broken leadership and get somebody who knows what they're doing back in the White House.

Americans First, Not Foreigners

Kirk emphasized the violation of the social contract when a 25-year-old American citizen who gets married and wants to start a family in Gilbert has to compete against a foreigner for a home. Our homes should be prioritized for Americans first above foreigners, period.

Vance agreed this is disgraceful. Harris's entire policy imports millions of people who violate our laws and then gives them benefits that should go to American citizens. She wants to give them homes that by rights should go to American citizens. She's said she wants to give illegal aliens Medicare, which would bankrupt the program and throw millions of American citizens into poverty. She wants to give them Social Security after American citizens paid into it for 30 or 40 years.

"Kamala Harris wants to give the American dream to people who shouldn't even be here. Donald J. Trump wants to protect the American dream for people who ought to be here, who deserve to be here, and who fought for this country their whole lives."

Tim Walz: The Perfect Running Mate

Kirk asked if the audience were big Tim Walz fans, joking about the upcoming vice presidential debate moderated by Norah O'Donnell from CBS. Vance quipped that based on Walz's military service record, he might bail out at the last minute but claim he went anyway—"the Tim Walz approach to the debate."

Walz has admitted by his own admission that he's not a good debater. Meanwhile, Kirk noted that audiences are witnessing one of the best debaters Republicans have in JD Vance.

Looking at Walz's record: he provided taxpayer-funded tuition for illegals in Minnesota, gave driver's licenses to illegals, and implemented numerous other policies accommodating foreigners in his state. Yet like Harris, he refuses to take questions.

The Question Litmus Test

Kirk issued a challenge to undecided voters watching at home or in attendance: the ticket willing to take questions from reporters on a daily basis is probably the ticket that should govern your country, not the one that runs away from reporters.

He ended with an editorial question: why are reporters and journalists continually providing cover for the side that won't talk to them?
