The Chapter Leadership Summit's Growth Under Charlie Kirk

The Chapter Leadership Summit is Turning Point USA's annual training event for student chapter leaders, and it became one of the clearest measures of the organization's growth under Charlie Kirk, from around 180 attendees in its early years to more than 2,000 student leaders representing over 5,000 chapters by the time of his death. Kirk used the stage there for some of his more personal addresses, including a talk challenging students to choose what he called deep lives over easy lives, organizing on campus despite criticism rather than opting for comfort, and a separate, unusually candid talk on dating and marriage where he told young men to abandon pornography and video games and young women to prioritize marriage over career. After Kirk's assassination, the summit became something closer to a memorial in practice: Erika Kirk traveled there directly from a difficult week attending preliminary hearings in the Tyler Robinson case, addressing a crowd more than twice the size of any previous summit, while producers Andrew Kolvet and Mikey McCoy used their own appearance to frame Kirk's death in explicitly religious terms, describing him as continuing his mission from heaven rather than treating the summit as simply another organizing event.
