Joel Pollak Gave Charlie Kirk His First Break at Breitbart

Charlie Kirk credited Breitbart News editor Joel Pollak with giving him his first real platform, after Kirk, then a high school senior, wrote a rebuttal to what he considered a factual error in his AP economics textbook about the effects of the Reagan tax cuts. Pollak found the piece, encouraged Kirk to write it up formally, and published it on Breitbart, where it went viral and led to Kirk's first Fox News appearance. Kirk said he never personally met Andrew Breitbart, who died within about a month of Kirk's involvement with the site, but felt he knew him through his writing.
