Charlie Kirk was assassinated in Orem, Utah, on September 10, 2025, shot during a campus question-and-answer session at Utah Valley University that opened his planned American Comeback Tour before a crowd of more than three thousand attendees. A thirty-three-hour manhunt followed. Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Robinson, a former honors student who had earned a full scholarship to Utah State University, turned himself in after his father recognized him from released images and urged him to surrender.

Students and community members who witnessed the shooting, including several who later spoke publicly about the trauma of the experience, described the chaos and disbelief that swept through the crowd. A memorial vigil grew on campus in the days that followed, while the university remained partially cordoned off as an active crime scene. More than a month later, FBI officials addressed persistent conspiracy theories surrounding the case, noting that DNA evidence, text messages, and Robinson's own confession all pointed to his direct involvement despite continued public skepticism from some commentators. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu found it necessary to publicly deny any Israeli government role in the assassination, given the scale of speculation the case had generated online.
