A Wave of Physical Attacks on Journalists and Activists in 2025
Showing 4 Protest Violence videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.
Independent journalist Nick Shirley describes being threatened with violence while covering nightly protests outside a Portland ICE facility, including one agitator warning he'd "smoke" him and another later pulling a gun on him near his car, incidents he says are common at a site where police have largely stopped responding. Turning Point USA activist Cam Higby was punched repeatedly in the face after attempting to film counter-protesters chanting against Charlie Kirk at a memorial vigil, with his attackers later arrested on robbery charges after also stealing his phone. TPUSA reporter Savannah Hernandez was shoved to the ground by an anti-ICE protester in Minnesota while agitators blew whistles in her face, prompting a Department of Justice investigation and new field-safety protocols from her employer. Journalist Katie Daviscourt was struck in the face by a thrown rock near the same Portland facility, her second assault at that location after a 2023 attack with a flagpole, while journalist Andy Ngo's 2019 beating by Antifa in Portland, which caused a brain bleed, remains a case with zero arrests despite video evidence.
