Katie Daviscourt Attacked by Rock-Throwing Protester Near Portland ICE Facility, DOJ Launches Investigation

Investigative reporter Katie Daviscourt was violently assaulted near a Portland ICE facility when an alleged Antifa protester threw a rock at her face from close range. The attack, captured on video, shows Daviscourt stating she's in danger moments before being struck. The Department of Justice's Rapid Response Team has launched an investigation into the incident. This marks the second assault on Daviscourt near the same location, following a 2023 attack with a flagpole that left her with facial injuries. The investigation comes shortly after federal indictments were issued for three individuals who allegedly attacked Turning Point USA contributor Savannah Hernandez during similar coverage.

Reporter Assaulted Near Portland ICE Facility

Katie Daviscourt, an investigative reporter for The Post Millennial, was violently assaulted near the Portland, Oregon ICE facility over the weekend. The attack was captured on video and shows a protester throwing a rock directly at her face from approximately five feet away. In the moments leading up to the assault, Daviscourt can be heard on camera stating, "I'm pretty sure I'm in danger" before attempting to leave the area.

According to Daviscourt's account of the incident, she was "violently mobbed and chased by Antifa" before the alleged assault occurred. The severity of the attack has led her to believe the assailant intended to cause serious harm. "I believe that this suspect was trying to kill me that night," Daviscourt stated. "The individual ran at me full speed and threw a rock directly at my face from five feet away, as if he were on like an MLB pitching mound. And then he continued to pursue me."

Department of Justice Launches Investigation

Within hours of the video being posted online, the Department of Justice's Rapid Response Team responded on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that an investigation has been launched into the assault. The swift response from federal authorities highlights the seriousness of attacks on journalists covering protests and demonstrations.

Daviscourt has made clear that she wants to see criminal charges filed against her attacker. The investigation is currently ongoing, with federal authorities working to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the assault.

Second Attack at Same Location

This incident marks the second time Daviscourt has been assaulted while reporting near the same Portland ICE facility. In October of the previous year, she was allegedly struck in the face with a flagpole by an Antifa-affiliated protester. That attack resulted in facial bruising and a black eye.

The repeated targeting of Daviscourt at this location raises concerns about the safety of journalists covering protests and the escalating violence at such demonstrations. The pattern of attacks suggests a deliberate targeting of media personnel attempting to document activities near the facility.

Part of Broader Pattern of Attacks on Journalists

The investigation into Daviscourt's assault comes less than a week after a federal grand jury indicted three family members in connection to an alleged attack on Savannah Hernandez, a contributor for Turning Point USA. Hernandez was reportedly attacked while covering an Antifa-related event, indicating a troubling trend of violence against conservative journalists and media figures covering protests.

These incidents highlight the dangerous conditions journalists increasingly face when covering politically charged demonstrations and protests, particularly those involving militant activist groups. The federal government's response through investigations and indictments signals an effort to hold perpetrators accountable and protect press freedom.
