At a congressional hearing on whether groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center helped create the conditions for Charlie Kirk's assassination by labeling mainstream religious and free-speech viewpoints as hate, Family Research Council president Tony Perkins took part in the proceedings alongside a Turning Point USA official who testified that it was, in his words, ironic for a self-described civil rights organization to marginalize the views of roughly half the country. The hearing examined whether federal agencies and outside groups had effectively been used to designate ordinary political and biblical speech as extremism ahead of Kirk's killing. A separate video features Pastor Jack Hibbs delivering a memorial message for Kirk, calling him a modern-day Christian martyr and reflecting on their friendship.
