Jack Hibbs Honors Charlie Kirk After Assassination: A Martyr for Faith and Freedom

Pastor Jack Hibbs delivers a powerful memorial message following the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah. Speaking from his church pulpit while preparing for Fox News coverage, Hibbs reflects on their friendship, Charlie's spiritual maturity despite his young age, and his unique ability to stand with grace under hostile opposition on college campuses. Hibbs frames Charlie's death as martyrdom, arguing that what Satan meant for evil, God will turn for good, inspiring a generation of young people to carry forward the torch of biblical truth and constitutional freedom. This emotional service combines grief with hope, calling believers to find something worth dying for and to recognize that Charlie finished his race faithfully, now receiving his crown of righteousness.

Remembering September 11th and Facing a New Attack

Before addressing the main purpose of the gathering, Pastor Jack Hibbs reminded the congregation that the next day would mark 24 years since September 11th, 2001, when America was attacked. He expressed concern that the nation has forgotten that day, stating his belief that America has been under attack ever since, just working in the shadows. For those who remember, the memories remain vivid and in technicolor, while many young people in the audience weren't even born yet.

Hibbs shared that he would be joining the Fox News team from 8 to 10 PM that evening to discuss Charlie Kirk's assassination, requesting prayer as he attempted to be in two places at once through technology.

The Door of Death and the Valley of Shadows

Hibbs addressed how someone gets to heaven, affirming the answer is by believing in Jesus, trusting in Jesus, repenting and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. But he focused on the means by which we inherit this gift that Jesus purchased for us.

He referenced an old bumper sticker: "Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die." Death is the door you must go through to meet Jesus Christ. Quoting David's psalm, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil," Hibbs clarified a common misunderstanding. The valley is the suffering we experience as we head toward death in this world. There is no valley after death, only Jesus Christ and the glory of heaven. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord instantaneously.

He shared how Stephen, while being stoned to death in Jerusalem, saw Jesus stand up at the right hand of God the Father before Stephen even died. This is significant because Jesus is normally described as seated, but Stephen saw him standing. Hibbs concluded that whenever God's children are passing, they see Jesus standing to meet them, to say "Well done."

A Friendship Bonded in the Spirit

Hibbs shared the scripture that had been his go-to throughout the day as media and news agencies called: 2 Timothy 4:6-8. The Apostle Paul wrote, "For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."

Describing his relationship with Charlie, Hibbs spoke of "love at first sight" with certain brothers in Christ, including Tony Perkins, Frank Turek, and Charlie Kirk. He described it as the bonding of the spirit of the Holy Spirit within a brother that plugs you together, bonds you together, where nothing has to be said. He joked about how men communicate with grunts and groans, conveying a thousand words.

What amazed Hibbs was that in the last 24 hours, he had spoken with all three of those men, not knowing one of them would beat him to heaven. He had planned on being there before Charlie.

Daily Bible Verses and Faithful Counsel

Charlie would text Hibbs a Bible verse every day or every other day. He was always faithful to call before speaking on particular issues, asking "Where are we on this?" Hibbs loved this question and would respond with the biblical position and relevant verses.

They had a lot of fun together. Charlie once reminded Hibbs that he had "messed up his life" because after appearing on Happening Now to discuss the Klaus Schwab World Economic Forum, Charlie studied the topic for a few hours beforehand and wound up knowing more than anyone who had studied it their entire life. Two weeks later, Charlie called to say that thanks to Hibbs, everyone was now calling him to give talks on the World Economic Forum, and he had become "the World Economic Forum guy."

Charlie was always accommodating and genuine, with no shenanigans. When anti-Semitism began to rise among Islamic sympathizers after Israel took out Iranian nuclear bases, and some of Charlie's friends wavered or went to the dark side, Charlie called asking for books and messages to answer the questions. Hibbs told him the topic wasn't a one-sermon listen and directed him to books of the Bible to read. Charlie navigated those difficult waters and never backed down. Whatever the Bible said trumped Charlie's feelings, which is how believers are supposed to live.

Asking the Wrong Questions About Evil

In the worldly narrative, it looks like Charlie Kirk was assassinated by a professional killer, a very skilled marksman who knew exactly what he was doing. It appears to be a catastrophe. Reporters asked, "If you believe in God, why does this stuff happen?"

Hibbs told them they were asking the wrong question. The right question to ask ourselves is: Why are we allowing this stuff to happen as a culture, as a people? There is a poison in our culture that is godless and has been trained up by the godless.

When a Fox News reporter asked about these kinds of tragedies, Hibbs responded with sarcasm: Why not stab a young woman who fled Ukraine seeking safety and freedom, only to be stabbed three times in the neck and bleed to death while onlookers watched, killed by a man arrested 14 times and released again by a judge appointed through DEI policy? In his opinion, that judge should be held for murder in the first degree.

Hibbs emphasized the need to keep hearts tender and biblically focused. The question shouldn't be how a God of love could allow such things. God has made it perfectly clear: Satan has come to rob, kill, and destroy. Anyone who practices death is a disciple of Satan, following doctrines of devils and deceiving spirits.

A Culture That Teaches We Are Animals

America has lost its way because we have forgotten God. These are the fruits and manifestations of a godless age. Hibbs asked: Why not put a knife in a woman's throat? Why not pull the trigger and extinguish anyone's life? He addressed Nancy Pelosi sarcastically, saying the gun wasn't the problem, not the heart or evil spirit within an individual, but "those doggone guns that just jump off the table and shoot people."

If we outlaw guns, we need to outlaw knives. If we outlaw knives, we need to outlaw rocks. If we outlaw rocks, we need to outlaw hands that can strangle. It's not the gun. It's the heart. Until the heart is changed, there will be no change in our culture.

The political woke side of the nation has launched what Hibbs believes is either a covert or overt civil war against the Constitution and the nation. He asked: How dare we say killing is wrong when we spend 13, 14, 15 years telling kids in schools and universities that they're nothing more than evolutionary byproducts, animals with no God, at the top of the food chain? We have poisoned our culture to the degree that people can take life without batting an eye.

It's not God's fault. It's our fault. We've taught our kids to be animals instead of teaching them they're precious in the sight of God and all human life is precious. We need to honor and love one another. God's word is clear that we must have the rule of law, and those who perpetrate evil must suffer the consequences of their actions. We've lost that. The evil protect the murderer while good people remain silent.

A Teenage Christian Who Matured to Ninety Years Old

Hibbs watched Charlie go from a teenage Christian in spirit—not literally, as he didn't know him as a teenager—who was crazy smart with incredible memory, to someone who matured more quickly than almost anyone he'd seen. When Charlie's physical body ceased to function, he went to the arms of Jesus at about the ripe old spiritual age of 90 years.

Hibbs could prove it: He had never seen anyone sit in hostile settings on university campuses, most recently at Oxford University, and be attacked, cussed at, spit at, defamed, and threatened, and just sit there without ever firing back. Not once. Charlie never said anything like "Why don't you drop dead" or "You'll find out when you wake up in hell." He was a gentleman, winsome, standing in the lion's den and prevailing every single time.

Charlie loved the truth and knew the truth could not be killed. After the most hostile questioners finished their rants, Charlie would most often say, "Thanks for asking me that question. Remember, Jesus Christ died on the cross for you and He loves you and wants you to give your life to Him. Next question, please." He was an evangelist, a patriot, a Christian, and Hibbs's friend.

A Million Gen Z Followers and the Rise of a Movement

When another reporter asked who would step into Charlie Kirk's shoes, Hibbs said that was the wrong question. You don't replace Charlie Kirk. Charlie knew that, which is why he discipled and replicated believers and patriots so much across the land that it spread to many other countries.

Hibbs believes what Satan meant for evil, God will turn around for good. In God's infinite sovereignty and wisdom, He will comfort Erika and take care of the kids. But here's what's significant: On American soil, the world witnessed a martyr—not just a martyr, but an assassinated martyr.

Some might say you can't put those two things together because assassination deals with political issues and martyrdom with religious issues. But this is the uniqueness of Charlie Kirk. He stood in the culture and preached truth, logic, and reason because the God of the Bible is the same God of logic and reason. The political left, the progressives, the woke world hated him.

Charlie Kirk was the voice in one man that all of us should have been. He went out and spoke like we know we should have spoken. He lived out what he believed and preached, leaving us a witness.

A Message to Young People: Find Something Greater Than Yourself

Hibbs addressed the young people directly: Are you looking for something in your life that is so great it's greater than you? Satan wants you to think your life is the end-all to everything, that everybody was created for your pleasure. Satan has lied, telling you that you're at the top. But you're not.

The greatest thing you can do, as Jesus taught, is serve your brothers and sisters. Wash their feet. Jesus said if He, the Lord and Master, washes feet, we ought to wash one another's feet.

Whatever you're living for, you better test it now. This world is so crazy that you could be dying for anything. But whatever you die for, is it worthy of your life? Charlie went out doing what God called him to do. He was a patriot on one side and a brother on the other, with no problem bringing those together.

If you plucked Charlie from the 21st century and placed him 250 years ago with the founding fathers, he would have gotten a high five from Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Sam Adams, and the whole lot. Charlie wasn't unique when it comes to what it means to be an American—that God gave us our freedoms, that we've been endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. Charlie lived a life that in the 1770s, '73, '75, '76, or 1789 would have been one of thousands if not millions. He was a young man living out the foundation of America.

This Is Not the America We Knew

But this America is not the America Hibbs was born into. He doesn't recognize this country. He doesn't care what happens in Washington or Sacramento. If nothing happens in the house of God, if revival doesn't break out in our personal lives as individuals, it is the end of America, and it will be an end in short order because God has given warning after warning.

We're all going to die. When Hibbs saw Charlie shot out of his chair, he thought, "Well done, Charlie. Lord, if you might be so gracious in my life..." Charlie got up that morning, went to the bathroom, put on his clothes, brushed his teeth, kissed his family goodbye, and flew to Utah. He was throwing out TPUSA hats and 47 hats, doing what he does. Frank Turek was with him.

What are you living for, really? Are you ready to die for the porn you indulge in? For pot? For sex? The key in life is finding something to live for that's greater than you—a cause.

An Underground Tsunami Rising to the Shore

Hibbs believes there will be a tremendous rise, though it may not be seen on the surface. Much like being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with no idea that underneath your ship passes a devastating tsunami traveling 200 miles per hour below the surface, invisible until it reaches the shore and rises up.

Charlie Kirk's followers, disciples, and those kids are going to look down deep. Young people need to ask themselves: This guy told us to stand up for our freedoms, speak the First Amendment, use it because God gave it to us. He was an example with dignity and winsomeness.

It's time to surrender to Charlie's God and to how Charlie understood the founding documents of this nation while we still have a chance. Because it's on the young generation. The old are old. The young generation will face the growing rise of Islam in America and the demonic belief systems of godless woke culture, progressive culture, DEI culture, leftist, communist, socialist culture.

Don't lose heart. God is always working with the remnant. He loves the remnant. You might feel outnumbered, but Charlie taught you to never allow your feelings to convince you that you're outnumbered because God is always on His throne.

Speaking from the Dead

There might be young people who never heard of Charlie Kirk before, or detractors, and they're listening to his voice speak from the dead on YouTube or TPUSA posts. Kids are starting to think, "I didn't know that. Who's this guy?" They're sending videos to friends: "This guy that just got shot, you know what he said? That's radical. Yeah, but it's true. We should probably check him out."

Hibbs believes Satan made a big mistake.

God Numbers Our Days

The scriptures teach that the Lord has numbered our days. God knew the day you were born. In fact, Psalm 139 tells us God knew the day you were conceived. When your mom got pregnant with you, that whole system was designed by God. This collision of information so great that the depths of the observable universe and beyond pale in comparison to the technology of human DNA. That's you. God numbers your days.

Did you know that today was Charlie's day? It wasn't an accident. God didn't necessarily do it, but God knew about it. Why didn't He stop it? Stop what? For what?

Isaiah 57:1-2 says, "A man perishes and no one takes it to thought. A man is taken off from the earth by death and no man considers it, that the Lord has removed him from evil."

Today was Charlie's day. If it hadn't been the bullet of an assassin, it would have been by heart attack, car accident, airplane, somehow, some way. You don't change your number. Charlie, like Paul, finished the days that were allowed to him. He finished them honorably, gloriously, faithfully, powerfully. He finished his race. He kept the faith. The scripture says the Lord will give a crown of righteousness as a gift to Charlie, and not only to him but to all who have loved His appearing.

How Do You Want to Die?

Hibbs asked: Do you love the thought of Christ coming again? But what if Jesus isn't coming for the next hundred years? Were you hoping to get out of here painlessly? What if Christ isn't coming back for 100 years? You're going to die. How do you want to die?

Do you want to lay suffering like his sister with cancer for seven years? Or a friend battling unbearable pain who looks completely normal but was just given bad news about life-threatening medication? There are young people in the church suffering, like Elijah in his wheelchair with a death notice, told how long he will live while suffering.

Charlie didn't suffer. The last word out of his mouth was "violence." He said, "Everything's got to be done to stop violence." Then the bullet entered his throat.

Do you see the mercy of God in Charlie's passing? He was hit by a round designed to drop an 800-pound animal—a bull moose or elk. The individual delivered what is known as a kill shot. This was not a warning. This was an assassination. Charlie breathed in, and the next moment he breathed out in the presence of God. He didn't suffer.

Precious in the sight of the Lord are the deaths of His saints.

A Call to Prayer and Hope

Hibbs asked the congregation to intercede for Erika, who has two little ones to raise who look just like Charlie. Pray for the entire staff at Turning Point USA and Turning Point USA Global.

In the spirit realm, there has never been a day when we haven't been at war. We battle against principalities and powers and demonic forces and invisible worlds that manifest themselves in this physical realm. God has the answer.

People who criticize God need to remember: God is the only answer. We have to get out of this world somehow. If it's not by rapture, it's by some other means. Hibbs wants to go as quickly as possible. He's had that debate with the Lord and remembers the thought that wasn't his own: "Jack, don't worry about it. You can only die so long. You can only die so long and then you're dead."

But we have the answer because Jesus gave us the answer. We can cry—Hibbs had been crying all day between interviews, which kept him somewhat sane. We're supposed to cry. We're supposed to weep. We'll wake up tomorrow and it will hit us all over again. That's okay. We're supposed to do this.

Just don't do it without hope. Paul the Apostle told the believers in Thessalonica: "Let us sorrow, let's weep when someone dies, but not without hope. For if we believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again from the dead, He will also bring with Him all those who died believing in Jesus so that we are not without hope."

The dark enemy world can do whatever it wants to do. It cannot stop us because greater is He that lives within us than he that is in the world.
