Alex Stein Defends Erika Kirk Against Candace Owens' Bride of Charlie Series Accusations
Alex Stein offers a candid response to Candace Owens' upcoming documentary series "Bride of Charlie," which appears to cast suspicion on Erika Kirk regarding her husband Charlie Kirk's death. Stein, who knew Charlie Kirk personally, flatly rejects any notion that Erika was involved in the tragedy at Utah Valley University. He suggests that Owens' motivation stems from jealousy over Erika's position as CEO of Turning Point USA, an organization Owens helped build alongside Charlie in its early days. Stein acknowledges that while criticism of leadership is fair game, accusing someone of murder crosses a clear ethical line.
Alex Stein Speaks Out Against Candace Owens Series
In a revealing interview, Alex Stein addressed the controversial upcoming documentary series from Candace Owens titled "Bride of Charlie," which focuses on Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk. The preview footage shows dramatic imagery and ominous narration suggesting questions about the circumstances surrounding Charlie Kirk's death at Utah Valley University.
Stein made his position unequivocal from the start: "Erika Kirk had nothing to do with her husband's death. That is just ludicrous to think that she would be involved whatsoever with killing Charlie."
The Jealousy Theory
Rather than accepting the series at face value, Stein offered his own theory about Owens' motivation for creating this documentary. He pointed to Owens' history with Turning Point USA and her relationship with Charlie Kirk as key context for understanding the project.
"Candace was a big part of Turning Point at the beginning of it. She was close with Charlie," Stein explained. "She is incredibly jealous that Erika is now the CEO of this thing. And I think that she is really sad that she's not the leader of it."
Stein revealed that he has seen multiple clips of Owens saying "Turning Point USA should hire me," which he interprets as evidence of her disappointment at not being chosen to lead the organization after Charlie's death.
A Jilted Professional Relationship
Stein described Owens as "a jilted lover," though he clarified he wasn't suggesting a romantic relationship between Owens and Charlie Kirk. Instead, he was referring to a professional jealousy stemming from Owens' early contributions to building Turning Point USA.
"She was there at the beginning, she was very close to Charlie, did help build it up," Stein acknowledged. "So to me, I think a lot of this comes from jealousy because you can criticize Charlie, he was criticized, and now that she's CEO I think that, sadly, she's going to be fair game, she's going to get critiqued."
Where the Line Gets Crossed
While Stein recognized that public figures and organizational leaders are subject to legitimate criticism, he drew a firm boundary around what he considers acceptable. "To accuse her of killing her husband, that is just, that crosses the line in my opinion," he stated.
Stein expressed his belief that Owens herself knows Erika Kirk wasn't involved in her husband's death. "I truly believe Candace knows that Erika didn't have anything. She knows that Erika did not plan her husband's death. That's just ludicrous. That's insane."
The interview highlighted the complex dynamics at play when tragedy intersects with organizational leadership transitions and long-standing professional relationships. The "Bride of Charlie" series is set to debut later this month, and Stein's comments suggest it will arrive amid significant controversy within conservative movement circles.
