Candace Owens Uncovers Dan Flood's Federal Connections and His Father's Law Enforcement Background in Charlie Kirk Investigation

Candace Owens reveals stunning new information about Dan Flood, head of Charlie Kirk's security team at the time of his assassination. After receiving tips from an anonymous source, Owens discovered that Flood's father, Robert Eugene Flood, spent 35 years in law enforcement with deep ties to the FBI, military intelligence, and Texas agencies. Both Dan Flood and fellow security member Brian Harpole have fathers with extensive military and law enforcement backgrounds, all with connections to Texas. Owens questions whether federal agencies can meaningfully investigate their own, while also exposing contradictions in Turning Point USA's statements about drone usage on the day of the assassination. The organization has now sent cease and desist letters to small YouTube channels asking questions about the incident.

The Anonymous Tip That Changed Everything

Candace Owens receives numerous emails daily, many of which she admittedly finds less than credible. However, one persistent emailer caught her attention with claims that seemed outlandish at first—assertions about knowing who killed JFK, connections between corrupt cops and mafia families, and even that former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir and Lyndon Baines Johnson were siblings. While Owens initially dismissed these claims, the source eventually pivoted to information directly related to Charlie Kirk's assassination, promising details about how the security operation actually worked.

The source alleged that bought and paid for police officers throughout America are part of what's known as the Cattleman's Ball or Cattle Baron Ball—a massive fundraising operation that the tipster claims functions as a money laundering operation. The Cattle Baron Ball is indeed a real event, the world's largest single-night fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, founded 50 years ago in Dallas, Texas, and now operating in multiple states including Kansas, Oregon, Florida, and Nebraska.

The emailer claimed he was once part of this system and that the same network involved in orchestrating events in Dallas in the 1960s was also involved in Charlie Kirk's assassination. While Owens cannot confirm these broader allegations, what the source told her next proved verifiable and significant.

Dan Flood's Father: Robert Eugene Flood

The anonymous source challenged Owens, asking why she and others investigating Charlie Kirk's death hadn't identified Dan Flood's father. This question led to a major discovery. Dan Flood, who headed Charlie Kirk's security team, is the son of Robert Eugene Flood, a career law enforcement officer with 35 years of experience across Illinois and Texas.

Robert Eugene Flood's credentials are extensive. He is an FBI National Academy graduate and a Texas master peace officer. His career included 33 years with the Texas A&M University Police Department, where he served as Chief Deputy. His final assignment was with the Bosque County, Texas Sheriff's Office. Before that, he worked for over a decade in Franklin Park, Illinois—just streets away from where Charlie Kirk was raised.

Owens found it notable that despite Robert Flood's prominent roles as crime scene technician, SWAT team leader, patrol division supervisor, and criminal investigator in Illinois, she could not locate a single news article mentioning him from that period. His LinkedIn profile reveals an impressive trajectory: Marine Corps staff sergeant specializing in surveillance and target acquisition, small arms and weapons, tactical radio communications, and aviation ordnance and weapon systems. His career later included work with a company operating between Tokyo, Japan and Chicago, service as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, and captain of police at University Park Police in Texas.

Perhaps most significantly, Robert Eugene Flood joined the FBIA—the Federal Bureau of Investigations Agent Association. This charity, founded in 1981, brings together 14,000 former and current FBI agents to "protect and advance the interests of their profession," according to their website. Owens questions the implications of such an organization, wondering whether large donations to this charity could effectively buy influence with federal officers across every state.

The Illinois Connection

Both of Dan Flood's parents are from Illinois, specifically from the same area where Charlie Kirk grew up. Owens believes it's highly likely that Robert Eugene Flood knew Bill Montgomery—the Air Force veteran who convinced Charlie to start Turning Point USA in Illinois and who later arranged and initially paid for Charlie's full-time security. Montgomery chose to hire Schaefer Security, run by Greg Schaefer, another former FBI agent who worked on the elite hostage and rescue team, supervised the Dallas joint terrorism task force, and was stationed in Budapest, Hungary among other global FBI offices.

Owens maintains her belief that Charlie Kirk was monitored by the government from a young age. She points to Charlie's attendance at Quest Academy in Palatine, Illinois (formerly the Children's Creative Academy), where he was sent after his mother refused to allow him to be medicated for his exceptional brilliance. Bill Montgomery organized the security arrangement that would employ Dan Flood and Brian Harpole under Greg Schaefer's company, creating a security team with deep federal and military connections that would stay with Charlie throughout his career.

The Cattle Baron Ball Connection

An intriguing detail emerged from one of Dan Flood's high school friends, who posted after the assassination: "Bro, the head of Charlie Kirk security team, the guy they say is in on it, was my friend as a kid. We grew up together. I went to middle and high school with Dan Flood. Matter of fact, last time I saw him, he was doing security for some Dallas billionaire at the Cattleman's Ball. What a crazy small world. Yeah, this dude has been in private security for at least 20 years."

This confirms that Dan Flood has connections to Dallas billionaires and attended the Cattle Baron Ball in a security capacity. Owens would like to know which billionaires Flood was working with at this event, as it may provide crucial context for understanding the networks surrounding Charlie Kirk's security detail.

New Braunfels, Texas: A Common Thread

Owens had previously reported that Erika Kirk's plane repeatedly traveled to New Braunfels, Texas, which made sense because Turning Point USA's number one donors, NDA and Carl Buckman, who cut a $10 million check in June, live there. What Owens didn't know until recently is that Dan Flood also lives in New Braunfels, Texas. The question becomes: what or who inspired Dan Flood to move from his hometown of Allen, Texas to New Braunfels?

Brian Harpole's Similar Background

All of Charlie's security on the day of the assassination were from Texas—Rick Cutler, Dan Flood, and Brian Harpole. Like Flood, Brian Harpole was also born in Dallas, Texas. His father, Bobby Harpole, ran for county sheriff in Erath, Texas in 2018 and gave an interview about his background. Bobby Harpole stated: "I was born in Denton, Texas, and grew up a quote unquote military brat, living in numerous states and Europe. I started my law enforcement career in 1968 with the Texas Department of Public Safety, living in Amarillo, Childress, Amarillo, Floresville, and Stephenville. I retired from TDPS as a sergeant in highway patrol. I then went to work for the Erath County Sheriff's Office and after 12 years of service retired as captain."

Bobby Harpole now works at a funeral home, which Owens finds to be an interesting career change. When examining Brian Harpole's extensive military and law enforcement family ties, the connections span the Pacific, through Europe, and throughout Texas, just like the Flood family, going back decades.

Questions About Federal Investigation

Owens poses a critical question: Are we expected to believe that federal agencies are meaningfully investigating federal agents? She asks hypothetically, if Dan Flood and Brian Harpole were actually guilty of organizing Charlie Kirk's assassination, would the federal government turn them over? Her conclusion is that they would not. This, she suggests, is the point her anonymous source was making—that corruption goes back to Dallas in the 1960s and there's nothing anybody can do through official channels.

Turning Point USA Sends Cease and Desist Letter

In what Owens characterizes as a public relations disaster, Turning Point USA sent a cease and desist letter to Zach De Gregorio, who runs a relatively small YouTube channel called Wolves and Finance. The channel has produced videos examining the finances of Turning Point USA. Owens had previously shared one of his clips and even corrected him publicly when he identified the wrong person in one video—which Gregorio immediately took down and corrected.

Gregorio explained in a video that he received a letter from Turning Point titled "Demand to Cease and Desist Defamatory Comments," which is the first step when someone intends to sue for defamation. The letter states it is not intended as a lawsuit threat, but as Gregorio correctly notes, that is exactly what a cease and desist letter represents. He points out that if Turning Point simply wanted corrections, they could have emailed him as a human being, just as Owens did when she spotted an error.

Owens criticizes this approach as emblematic of a "I have lawyers, I can sue you, I'm rich" mentality that should have been left behind. She argues that organizations with substantial resources shouldn't be sending legal threats to small content creators asking legitimate questions, especially when the organization claims to stand for free speech. The move backfired immediately, as it put Turning Point USA on record with yet another contradictory statement about the events surrounding Charlie's death.

The Drone Controversy Deepens

Turning Point USA has provided multiple conflicting accounts about drone usage on the day of Charlie Kirk's assassination. Initially, Frank Turek stated that while driving to the event, he showed Charlie live drone footage on his phone and Charlie loved it. Then Brian Harpole told Shawn Ryan that there were no drones because the university denied their request to fly them.

When people noticed this contradiction, Andrew Kolvet attempted to clarify. He explained that they initially tried to fly a drone for a security survey but were told by law enforcement to ground it despite having FAA clearance. He said they left campus, flew the drone off campus to get the survey, then returned. Kolvet claimed the image people thought was drone footage was actually just a wide-angle shot from a second-floor walkway or bridge that the events team used to show Charlie the crowd size. He said Frank Turek simply mistook this elevated shot for drone footage.

However, in the cease and desist letter to Wolves and Finance, Turning Point USA's lawyer provided yet another version of events, stating: "There was no discrepancy. UVU prohibited Turning Point USA from flying drones for security purposes during the event, but did allow a Turning Point USA media production drone to briefly fly over the location before the event to collect limited B-roll footage."

This directly contradicts Kolvet's explanation that the footage Frank saw was merely from an elevated walkway. Now the official position is that the media team was allowed to fly drones temporarily for B-roll footage, but security was not allowed to fly drones for security purposes. Owens finds this explanation absurd, questioning why a media team would be granted temporary drone access for footage while the security team would be denied temporary access for security surveillance. She also questions why, if the media team had drone footage that made its way to Frank Turek, it didn't also make its way to Brian Harpole and the security team.

Erika Kirk: China Contradictions

Owens continues to investigate inconsistencies in Erika Kirk's public statements. In a previous interview, Erika described creating an organization called Everyday Heroes Like You, initially focused on bringing funds and awareness to grassroots organizations. She stated: "It kind of grew into something more global. I was living in China and doing a lot of work with the victims from sex trafficking."

When Owens asked Turning Point USA about this through official channels, she received a response claiming Erika never actually lived in China—she only visited for two weeks as a tourist. However, Owens uncovered a video of Charlie Kirk debating Ben Corollo where Charlie states: "Unlike you, my wife lived in China for 6 months and she'll show you the videos. She'll show you the images."

Owens points out that you cannot simultaneously claim to have lived somewhere and also claim to have only visited for two weeks. She notes that she found a real estate profile where Erika mentioned this work was affiliated with her charity Everyday Heroes, which aligns with her interview statement. Owens is requesting specific information about which charity in China Erika was working with and what exactly she was doing there, as she is building a comprehensive timeline of Erika Kirk's background.

Operation Mocking Pastor Returns

Cornerstone Church, where a pastor previously called Owens "Cameron Owens" and criticized her and Tucker Carlson for their views, is hosting another event focused on combating alleged anti-Semitism in churches and conservative politics. Pastor Gary Ham announced a special Wednesday night service for January 21st, stating: "We're going to talk about anti-semitism. It's on the rise in churches and in conservative politics. Consider Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson. We'll talk about them, too."

The event will feature Rob McCoy, leader of Turning Point Faith, and Samuel Smaja, described as an Israeli businessman. Owens sarcastically refers to "Operation Mocking Pastor" as "an Israeli business" and suggests that perhaps more relevant questions could be asked about McCoy's efforts to rehabilitate people who went to prison for harming children, rather than focusing on critics of Israeli government policy toward Palestinians.

Israel Honors Charlie Kirk

Fox News reported that Israel will honor the late Charlie Kirk with an award for opposing anti-Semitism. Owens finds this timing shameless and questions why the country of Israel is so eager to claim Charlie Kirk's legacy when the circumstances of his death remain uninvestigated. She notes that it makes the situation feel even more suspicious when foreign governments rush to memorialize an American whose death has not been properly examined by American authorities.

What's Next

Owens reveals that Turning Point USA recently purged employees they suspected of leaking information to her. The problem is they fired the wrong people, and now those wrongly accused employees are actually providing her with information. She promises more revelations this week, including another text message that was sent to Charlie Kirk containing what she characterizes as a veiled threat from one of his donors.

Owens announces that Baron Coleman will be joining her for a joint show where they will discuss a tip they both received that she describes as "mind-blowing." She emphasizes that the decentralized intelligence of her audience has been far more reliable than official channels, praising her viewers as "way more reliable" than institutional sources because they defend children and protect the vulnerable rather than serving elite interests.
