Candace Owens Uncovers Romania Connection Between Erika Kirk Tyler Bowyer and Military Operations in Eastern Europe

Candace Owens continues her investigation into Erika Kirk's past, focusing on mysterious connections to Romania involving Tyler Bowyer, military operations, and family ties to the Black Sea Rotational Force. The investigation reveals a web of relationships centered around Arizona State University, Romanian Parliament meetings, orphanage projects, and military personnel from Reno, Nevada stationed in Eastern Europe during the early 2010s. Owens questions why multiple Turning Point USA figures have proximity to mass shooting events and challenges the lack of transparency from those involved. The episode also examines operations in Afghanistan, the opioid crisis origins, and what Owens describes as a pattern of evasion when basic questions are asked about timelines and relationships.

Breaking Down the Romania Timeline

Candace Owens opens this episode with a direct question to her team: What's happening in Romania, and why are so many people in Erika Kirk's story connected to this Eastern European country? Eight days prior, the team sent Erika an email asking specifically how many times and for what duration she had visited Romania in the past. The response came from a lawyer stating Erika was preparing for the State of the Union and didn't have time to reply. Owens notes that Erika's memory seems to get spotty around this time in her life, including not remembering how she met Tyler Bowyer.

Before diving deeper, Owens provides an update: the team determined which middle school Erika attended—Cahokpa Middle School in Scottsdale. This was confirmed through an email tip and verified by a tweet from the school referring to her as alumni. This fills in blank school years from 2000 to 2003 on their timeline.

Romanian History and the Fall of Communism

To understand the Romania connection, Owens takes viewers back to 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down. That same year, on Christmas Day, Romanian president Nikolai Ceausescu and his wife Elena were executed after a show trial. Owens compares this to the Nuremberg trials, describing them as predetermined outcomes rather than genuine judicial processes. The executions were filmed, and Owens shows historical footage of the brief two-hour trial where the Ceausescus were found guilty and sentenced to death by firing squad immediately.

Owens questions the narrative that this execution represented freedom and the end of oppression. She argues that what followed was a vacuum of power that allowed oligarchs to move in and plunder resources—oil, silver, and gold. She draws parallels to other regime changes, mentioning Gaddafi in Libya and recent events in Venezuela, suggesting a pattern where instability creates opportunities for resource extraction.

Under communist rule, Owens notes, Ceausescu had banned abortion, eliminated private and foreign usury, and banned gambling, calling it a Western decadence. On January 1, 2007, eighteen years after the executions, Romania officially joined the European Union alongside Bulgaria.

Gambling Laws and Military Presence

In 2009, just two years after joining the EU, the Romanian Parliament passed a law to regulate gambling, requiring expensive licenses to operate casinos. The EU Commission intervened, forcing Romania to allow online gambling as well. Owens finds the timing significant: in 2009-2010, the United States announced it would establish a military base in Romania, and the Black Sea Rotational Force arrived. Tyler Bowyer made his first appearance in Romania at the same time in 2010. Also in 2010, Lori Frantzve reinstated E3 Tech International.

Owens shares a description of what E3 Tech does, taken from Lori's bio on the now-removed Everyday Heroes website. The description is filled with technical jargon about disruptive cyber technologies, hybrid cyber-electrical-mechanical capabilities, and sustainability of critical infrastructure protection for the Department of Defense. Owens calls it a "word pretzel" that says nothing meaningful, comparing it to throwing together buzzwords without substance.

The Reno Nevada Connection

In 2011, the Black Sea Rotational Force was conducting operations in Constanta, Romania. Owens emphasizes how interesting it is that the majority of the Marines came from Reno, Nevada—the capital of casino and gambling. An article she displays shows that a unit of six Marines from Reno, part of Black Sea Rotational Force 11, trained military forces in Bulgaria, Romania, and Macedonia in counterinsurgency techniques.

But it wasn't just military personnel. Researchers and students were also arriving from Reno. Owens shows a May 2011 article stating that students from the University of Nevada, Reno were going to Romania to give lessons at schools. The cohort included two Nevada graduates and two "graduate special" students not yet formally enrolled in the program, plus two students from the University of Texas.

Owens remarks on what she calls the "synergy" of Nevada and Reno working on behalf of interests she describes as controlling Washington DC through gambling enterprises. She suggests America is controlled by what she calls a "gambling empire."

Tyler Bowyer's Ascent and Erika's Enrollment

In April 2011, at the end of his spring semester, Tyler Bowyer was elected by the Arizona Senate to serve as a student representative to the Arizona Board of Regents, the governing body of Arizona's public university system. His two-year term began July 1, 2011. Shortly after Boyer was put in this position, Erika Kirk enrolled at Arizona State University for her final year of college.

Owens points out that Erika's cousin, Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Frantzve, a retired Marine from Chicago, came out of retirement specifically to serve with the Black Sea Rotational Force in Romania. Before retiring, Dennis had been stationed in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom—the same operation for which E3 Tech won an award. Dennis was even stationed with a Sergeant Boyer who has since passed away, leading Owens to wonder if the families have long-standing connections.

Afghanistan and Poppy Fields

Speaking of Afghanistan, Owens raises questions about the real reason for the extended military presence there. While the official narrative centered on fighting terrorism after 9/11, troops who returned reported they were tasked with guarding poppy fields. This was before the opioid crisis hit America, and Owens notes the crisis was driven by the Sackler family based in Tel Aviv.

Owens questions how Tel Aviv, which doesn't grow poppy flowers, obtained enough raw material to create an opioid crisis. She points to Captain Curtis Kolvet, Andrew Kolvet's brother, who was stationed in Afghanistan commanding the 593rd Nevada National Guard Transportation Company. Curtis commanded 260 Bulgarian soldiers based at Camp Phoenix in Kabul and was administratively responsible for directing them through 100 convoy missions. Robert Kolvet, Andrew's cousin, served at the same time as commander of the 485th Military Police.

Owens emphasizes that everything from Afghanistan was running through Romania and Bulgaria, with particular emphasis on Romania. She plays audio of Erika from a 2020 podcast where Erika reflects on her time in Romania in 2012 or 2013, confirming that Romania served as a "halfway drop off point" for troops coming from Afghanistan.

Erika's Time in Romania

In the same podcast clip, Erika mentions that her distant cousin showed her around the base in Romania when she visited. She's referring to Dennis Frantzve, who was part of the Black Sea Rotational Force. Erika says she fell in love with what they call "placement centers"—essentially orphanages—and specifically mentions the Antonio Placement Center.

Owens wonders aloud whether the Kolvets, Frantzves, and Boyers all ran into each other in Romania during this time. She finds it much more likely that these connections existed than that Erika just happened to enroll at Arizona State University months after Tyler was elected to the Board of Regents, and that she genuinely cannot remember how or when she met him.

The 2011 Timeline

Owens presents a detailed 2011 timeline:

  • April: Tyler Bowyer elected to Arizona Board of Regents
  • May 4: College students from University of Nevada Reno travel to Romania
  • June 12: Black Sea Rotational Force Marines from Reno mentioned as training troops in the Black Sea region
  • September: Erika enrolls at Arizona State University for her final year, later graduating magna cum laude with a double major
  • November: Erika wins Miss Arizona competition, making her Miss Arizona for the 2012 calendar year
  • Curtis Kolvet commands Nevada's Army National Guard transportation company with Bulgarian soldiers working under him
  • Robert Kolvet simultaneously commands the 485th Military Police Company in Afghanistan

Erika's Crown Year and Johnny's Locker

2012 was Erika's crown year as Miss Arizona. In January, her reign began. In February, Everyday Heroes Like You launched what's known as Johnny's Locker Ministry. Owens plays a clip of Erika presenting the second Johnny's Locker, describing it as a program targeted toward enhancing the lives of children and teens undergoing hardships in hospitals, shelters, or protective facilities. The locker would be filled with gifts to remind children they are not alone.

In May 2012, Erika graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a double bachelor of science in political science and international relations, indicating she shifted her major at some point. On May 30, she competed in the Miss USA pageant at the Hollywood Resort and Casino Theater in Las Vegas.

Partnerships and Projects

On June 7, 2012, Erika teamed up with Tracy Martin, who she says they met backstage. Tracy was making handbags, and $25 from each bag sold would be donated to Everyday Heroes. In July, Erika was featured in a music video for Emerson Drive called "She's My Kind of Crazy" that went viral. Her boyfriend at the time, Tyler Sanford, was also cast in the music video.

Also in July 2012, Erika tweeted in response to criticism about not acknowledging the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting during the Batman premiere. She wrote: "One of my best friends was in the theater." Owens expresses suspicion about how many Turning Point figures have proximity to mass shooting events.

Romanian Angels Project

In August 2012, Everyday Heroes Like You visited the Black Sea Air Support team in Constanta, Romania. In November, the Romanian Angels project officially began in partnership with the US Marines. Erika thanked Colonel Otto Busher, who would later be accused of running a brothel and trafficking children. She also thanked Major General Hugo E. Salazar, who was formerly from Arizona and had worked in narcotics with the Joint Task Force in 1994.

Owens connects this to testimony from Mitch Snow about Fort Huachuca and how generals were working with cartels in the 1990s. She suggests the pattern indicates that those claiming to fight drugs or human trafficking may actually be facilitating it, using their positions as cover.

The Memory Problem

Owens finds the most suspicious element to be Erika pretending not to remember how she met Tyler Bowyer, and both of them changing their stories. Tyler responded to someone on social media saying he met Erika at the Trump rally, seemingly forgetting he had already given a speech at Charlie's memorial stating that Erika called him asking "How can I help?" and he then put her behind Trump at the rally. If she called him, he had to know her before the rally.

Erika told Owens she knew Tyler through some congressman or senator from Arizona but wasn't sure, and said she would consult her text messages. She has not yet done so. Owens questions whether it's all just coincidence that everyone in this story was in Romania and Eastern Europe at the same time with these military ties, especially given that Jeffrey Epstein was pouring money into Arizona State University and facilitating models from Romania beginning in 2009.

Justin Strife and the Kirkwood Shooting

Owens reveals another Turning Point staff member who was present during a mass shooting. On February 7, 2008, at Kirkwood, Missouri city hall, a man named Charles "Cookie" Thornton went on a shooting rampage at a city council meeting, shouting "Shoot the mayor." He killed two police officers and three city officials, injured a reporter, and shot the mayor twice in the head. The mayor survived initially but died seven months later from complications. Cookie died from gunshot wounds in a shootout with police.

Justin Strife, the current COO of Turning Point USA who became COO seven days before Charlie was assassinated, was there. Owens notes she has heard from Turning Point employees that Erika pushed for Justin Strife to receive more power, though she cannot confirm this and considers it hearsay until proven. Owens plays a news clip showing Strife speaking about Cookie and the shooting, sounding familiar with what was happening at the city council.

Owens expresses amazement at how many people close to Charlie Kirk could list multiple shooting incidents they were connected to. She lists Rob McCoy, who lost two congregants in the Thousand Oaks shooting at the Borderline Bar in 2018 (many at the bar that night were survivors of the Las Vegas shooting from 2017), and who organized the Nashville Covenant School memorial in 2023 because Turning Point happened to be having a pastor's summit nearby.

A Pattern of Betrayal

Owens concludes by pointing out that these same people are now being community noted on social media for making up things Charlie would have said or thought, particularly regarding the Iran war, despite all evidence to the contrary. She calls it an act of tremendous moral betrayal that they are trying to make people believe Charlie would have supported positions opposite to what he stated while alive.

Owens references journalist Elizabeth Lane's assertion that they are dealing with true psychopaths. She maintains her position that something darker is at work, rejecting the notion that all these connections are mere coincidence. She criticizes the lack of clarity and unwillingness to sit for open interviews to explain exactly what these individuals were involved in, particularly regarding E3 Tech International's actual operations.

The episode ends with Owens promising to cover how Erika met Charlie in the next episode, with Tyler Bowyer involved in that story as well, and Lori doing "some interesting stuff" during that time period.
