Charlie Kirk Analyzes CBS News Reporter Finding Only One Kamala Harris Supporter in Washo County Nevada
Charlie Kirk breaks down a CBS News segment where reporter Adriana Diaz went to Washo County, Nevada to interview voters at restaurants. What she found surprised even her own network: overwhelming concern about the border and immigration, with only one Kamala Harris supporter found after approaching every person willing to talk. Kirk argues that this ground-level reporting reveals more truth than any poll, showing voters from diverse backgrounds, including a black American woman and immigrants from Mexico and Portugal, all expressing the same priorities: border security and fairness in the immigration system. The segment reveals a disconnect between media expectations and voter reality.
CBS News Finds Unexpected Reality on the Ground in Nevada
Charlie Kirk shares an extraordinary segment from CBS News featuring reporter Adriana Diaz, who conducted on-the-ground interviews at restaurants in Washo County, Nevada. Kirk emphasizes that what she discovered was so overwhelming that it passed through editorial review despite potentially making the network uncomfortable with the results.
Kirk explains that this type of ground-level reporting is more powerful than any poll from Rasmussen or the New York Times-Siena. When CBS News sent Adriana Diaz into Washo County restaurants, what she found should give hope to those concerned about the direction of the country.
Strong Leadership and Border Security: The Top Concerns
The first voters interviewed, Sten Schaefer and his companion, arrived early to vote and expressed clear priorities. The voter stated he wants someone who is strong, demands respect, gets respect, and can deal with foreign leaders—believing Trump is that person. When asked about remaining hopeful about America, the voter revealed something striking: he had never owned a gun in his life but now owns four, saying he fears for the country.
Another voter, Rosie Martins, originally from Mexico, was interviewed along with her husband Gary from Portugal. Both expressed concerns about the economy and the border. Martins said she wants the border to be secure and wants it to be something where people will not be in danger when they cross with their kids and families, and to know who is crossing. Her husband added that if people are not following the rules, they have nothing to do with this country.
Four Women in a Restaurant Deliver Unexpected Wisdom
Kirk describes what he believes was the most significant moment of the coverage. Adriana Diaz encountered four women at a restaurant—a diverse group including a black American, a white American, and a Hispanic American. Kirk suggests the reporter was expecting easy responses about abortion, January 6, or Trump being unfit for office.
Instead, these women delivered what Kirk calls more wisdom than found at Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, and Dartmouth combined. When asked what issue was most important, one woman said she was extremely concerned about the border and that illegals have to go. When the reporter mentioned people coming for asylum, the woman responded with one word: "baloney." She said they're coming for the freebies.
Another woman made a powerful point: when people talk about immigration, others think they're saying they don't want immigrants of any kind, but that's not what people are saying. People are saying there are people who have come here legally—why do they get pushed aside to allow people who have not even worked one day in the country and have not paid into the system?
Only One Harris Supporter Found After Exhaustive Search
After reporting back to her colleagues in New York, Adriana Diaz revealed something remarkable: in every single restaurant, among all the people willing to talk, they could only find one Harris supporter. She emphasized they left no stone unturned and approached every single person.
Kirk points out that viewers have to wonder how long she spent on this assignment—perhaps six, seven, or eight hours trying to find a single Kamala Harris voter. He notes that her editors probably were not thrilled with an on-the-ground report showing just one supporter for Harris in Washo County, which has historically been politically split.
The one Harris supporter they found was Ken Lasker, caught with a takeout order of brisket and mac and cheese. He said he was watching the election very closely but was the only Harris supporter they met at lunch.
Trump's Campaign of Justice Resonates With Voters
Kirk concludes by analyzing why Trump's message is connecting with voters. He argues that Trump is running on a campaign of justice, which interestingly is usually considered a left-wing cause. He explains that in every human heart there is a yearning for justice—even a four-year-old understands when something isn't fair.
Kirk argues that Trump's secret weapon in the 2024 election is not his rallies or his base, but the question of justice. It's a classical question going back to Plato and Aristotle: what is just? Trump makes the argument that citizens should not have a lower standard of life at their expense so a foreigner can get freebies.
Just like a six-year-old waiting in line for ice cream will say it's not fair when someone cuts in line, millions of people who are not necessarily huge fans of Donald Trump are willing to tune all of that out because they believe at least the loud man is going to fix this injustice.
